We stayed two nights at the Hotel Stefanie in June 2006, during the World Cup. The room was spartan but clean, with a private bath and televsion. The breakfasts were included and were very good, with a selection of good food in a nice atmosphere. Good basic lodgings.

Comfortable room, clean, quiet and so well decorated. Bathroom of the highest class. I think I was in the newest part of the hotel.
Great location. Lovely staff.
I'd give 5 stars if the following could be helped:
1) Could have a working area in the room (a desk and chair)
2) A slight improvement on the breakfast. I didn't find there was much protein available for non-meat eaters (no eggs), and the coffee could have been nicer. But that might have been bad timing on my part.
Such a lovely place though. Thanks for making my stay so 'bequem'.

Overall this hotel exceeded my expectations but one serious flaw prevents me from giving it a better review so here we go..
Pros: relatively large room (compared to a teeeny tiny European rooms in most places), location is great (very close to a U-Bahn stop to get to city center, lots of restaurants around), breakfast was good (the usual spread of cold cuts, cheese, yogurts, etc), pillows are great (compared to crappy flat pillows we had experienced in other places in Germany).
Cons: the place is a little dated, the furniture in the room mismatched, and the bathroom smelled. And not just a little bit...when we came back to our room the first night the bathroom seemed to have developed a strange sauerkraut-like smell. The smell seemed to improve if you took a shower (but not much and not for long). We kept the bathroom door closed at all times to not let the smell come into the room and kept window open to try to circulate the air. Honestly, if it wasn’t for the smell I would give this place a solid 4.5, but it was hard to use the bathroom because of the it. When we left, the sauerkraut stayed.

Absolutely not recommendable. We booked 2 premium double rooms in this hotel for the only reason of having air conditioning in the rooms but we found none of this in both rooms that we booked. Hotels.com helped us through this problem but the hotel denied partial refund. We were given a coupun by hotels.com, thanks for all your help. but if we knew we would have booked another hotel. Also we had a problem with hot water. We showered with cold water for 3 days out of 4. When we complained we were told that they have checked it and found no problems. But then they told us that maybe the hot water has been used up. Bathroom sink of room 113 was blocked for all our stay. I have complained also but problem remained.
No privacy at all , terraces are linked with no privacy area.
Moreover no security as the terraces can be accessed from the fire exit, even from public.
Such a pity for this hotel since rooms are very big and did not expect these problems at all. We spent so much time of our holiday on the phone trying to solve the problems.
Cleanliness was also not so good. Buffet breakfast is pretty good and with a variety of pastries. Rooms size and breakfast are the only thumbs up for this hotel.

Location of the hotel is amazing. You get a chance to stay right in the center of the city, with a lot of good "non-touristic" restaurants nearby.
Atmosphere is cozy and pleasant.
Rooms are quite big and clean. Breakfast has everything you might want.
The owner is very attentive and caring.
I would highly recommend to stay in this hotel for both work and leisure trips.
Thanks a lot for such an amazing stay.

Stayed 2 nights. The dust bin smelled of vomit. I asked someone at the reception in the first morning to have it cleaned. Didn’t happen.
Dust in the corners. Also in the bathroom the shower clearly hadn’t been cleaned.
Also the ironing table cloth had some very ugly stains on it.
A shame considering location and how nicely the rooms are decorated.

I stayed here for a night while in Munich for business. I was thrilled to find out that it was only steps from where I needed to be, and the cost was far lower than I had anticipated given Munich's reputation for being an expensive city. the room was quiet, even though it was very close to the check in desk and the breakfast was exceptional. I would happily stay here again next time I am in town!

This is a lovely hotel in the University part of town, close to the University U-Bahn station, two supermarkets on the same block, 5 minutes walk to the Englischer Garten, and 10 minutes walk/5 minutes bus journey from the Pinakotheken and Koenigsplatz. I had a large ensuite room in the annexe at the back of the hotel, which was comfortable and clean. Wifi was good too. The staff at reception were very helpful and the (continental) breakfast was varied and plentiful.

Usually when a hotel is called something as generic as 'Das Hotel', the chances of a comfortable stay are slim, but this Das Hotel exceeded all expectations. This is a great base to explore Munich from.

We were in Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands) for 2 weeks and this was by far our worst hotel.

We stayed the whole time because we were too tired to find new lodging and you pay for it all up front so you would simply be out of that money. (In my experience, this is always the case in Europe which is too bad because you're stuck.)

Problems with the room: It was FILTHY. Dust, lint, sand, fingerprints, dirt, hair, soap scum was on every single surface. It reminded me of an uncleaned bachelor pad. I turned on the hair dryer and dust and hair went flying as the breeze from the dryer it the floor. I accidentally dropped my toblerone on the floor so I picked up the big pieces figuring they would have rags to clean up the remainder. Nope, they left it. I would have wiped it myself, but you only get 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels so I didn't have anything to spare to clean it. Also, the metal soap dish in the shower was rusted, the shower soap dispenser was falling apart, the sink leaked a LOT ( we had to use a trash can to catch it to avoid slipping on the river it caused), there wasn't air conditioning and it you opened the windows all you could smell was cigarettes, there was weird brown dots all over the end of the toilet paper roll, and handles were missing from some furniture.

To add insult to injury, everything was crooked! Mirror, toilet, TV, shelves, sink pipes (maybe that is why they leaked) were all crooked. The chandelier was not attached fully to the ceiling. Also, the room was really dark and lacked ample lighting. It was really bland and unwelcoming too. The baseboard was not painted. The walls were white/beige. The room was big, but the overall dullness and dinginess of the room and decor made made you feel really uncomfortable.

The linens were clean, but that was it.

To be fair, I would like to mention that the front desk people were all very nice and helpful, but unfortunately that didn't make up for all of the issues with the room. They also do have some parking, but it is VERY limited. Breakfast was decent as well.

We booked this hotel at short notice for its location. Reception staff friendly. We were put on the 5th floor in an attic. Lift only went to 4th floor and we had already walked up one flight of stairs from ground level to reach reception. Our room had a fan but the only window in the room would not stay open and we had to rig up a makeshift arrangement so that we got some air into the room in the middle of a heatwave. Recommend you avoid rooms in the attic. One bottle of water was left in the room but never replaced. A dirty glass stayed there for all of our stay and bathroom toiletries were never replenished. The choice at breakfast was excellent but there were insufficient staff to keep it serviced. One day used a cup instead of a bowl as none available and no one to ask. The location of this hotel is good and maybe we were just unlucky with our room but we will not be returning to it when we next visit Munich.
