Our second stay at Hotel Schlicker and both times have been great. This time we were in Munich to take in the Christmas Markets and Hotel Schlicker is wonderfully located just off Marienplatz. Our room was modern, clean and nice, the breakfast delicious and everyone at the hotel were very pleasant and helpful. The festivities outside can be a bit noisy so you might consider a room in the back. I unfortunately left my sunglasses behind when we left and all the staff at the hotel were exceptionally great finding and then arranging to send them to me in Canada.

There are many plus points for this hotel:
1. It's close to the S and U bahns which makes travel extremely easy, even going to the airport.
2. Key attractions are within walking distance. You just feel like you are at the center of everything.
3. The property is recently renovated, old building but with modern amenities, even a USB charging port.
4. The architecture is good. I got a room that faces the inner courtyard.
5. The rooms are ample sized, something that's hardly the case all across Europe.
6. There are many grocers and restos nearby which makes it convenient for getting a proper meal or just a grab and go snack.

Overall, I'm very satisfied. I'd likely stay again if I'm back to Munich

Our stay at the Hotel Schlicker was great. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean. And the breakfast was phenomenal- there were so many options. The location was perfect too. In addition, the rooms were cool, the beds had a top sheet and the cleaning staff never interrupted us during the day, unlike other hotels we’ve stayed at. I would highly recommend spending your time in Munich at the Hotel Schlicker.

On a recent visit to Munich, we had a 3 family group of 10 people and ultimately split everyone up into 5 rooms. The rooms aren't spacious, but they are very clean, comfortable in terms of bedding, and had nice bathrooms with towel warmers, etc. Showers aren't large, but you kind of get used to this (almost cruise ship) size bathroom while traveling most places in Europe.
Upon arrival, the receptionist/host was extremely nice, knowledgeable and helpful getting everyone setup with keys quickly.
Some really great things about this hotel.. It's very close to Marienplatz, which is a lively hub and incredibly visual/exciting place above ground, but also has a subway hub directly under it allowing you easy access to get almost ANYWHER in Munich in minutes. That also means you can get off the train, and only have to tow your luggage a few hundred yards. The hotel is also less than 100 yards from the Viktualienmarkt, a fantastic outside market, and great restaurants.
Location wise, the hotel doesn't get any better.
The hotel desk is manned 24 hrs, so checking out and getting to the subway (for a 530am ride to the Airport) is really convenient.
The absolute best thing (IMO) about this hotel is the breakfast, with delicious (everything)!. Seriously, best breakfast we had during our entire trip throughout several EU countries.
Not a plus, but just to point it out - there's a McDonalds right next to the hotel so (if you must, kids, etc.) its decent option if you need a break from schnitzel and spätzle.
Only one minor con, but nothing that would change my review.. Not all rooms were as cool (temperature wise) as others, and some bathrooms were slightly different (some larger) amongst our large group - minor inconsistencies. The hotel manager did seem more than happy to change anything we didn't like so ultimately we felt the hotel was doing more than most in ensuring our comfort.

If returning to Munich, this Hotel would absolutely be the one we would choose again. Everything (in our opinion) was great.

We just returned from Munich and had a great stay at Hotel Schlicker! Location, location, location! Not only is this hotel charming and friendly, it is close to the main plaza, Marienplatz, the Viktualienmarkt, the Hoffbrau House, churches, museums, subway, you name it. The city hop on/hop off tour bus also stops right out front. You can hear the church bells chiming and people watch all the day. Also close to shops and stores of necessity.

Paul and all the other staff members there are excellent! I was able to email with them directly ahead of our trip and make all the arrangements without going through a third party. There is air conditioning here, parking and free breakfast!

Basic rooms are European in nature, on the small side, but we were only in our rooms to sleep so it was no problem. One night we did stay in the junior suite room and it was large, spacious and gorgeous.
This hotel is very reasonably priced too!

Can’t say enough! They have umbrellas for their guests in case an afternoon shower pops up and bicycles too for their guests. Book today before they get full!

Location is the draw to this little hotel as it is next to Marienplatz and the Virtualmarkt. The rooms are a bit small and the front rooms can be noisy, but the price is right for this premier location. Note that the Hop on Hop Off bus stops across the street along with a Taxi stand. There are excellent restaurants, bars and stores all within a few minutes’ walk.
As an added plus, the breakfasts are good too.

We ended our 16 day Germany adventure in Munich and stayed 3 nights at the Hotel Schlicker. I'm very happy with our choice. We had a rental car when we arrived and were able to park in their courtyard parking lot while we checked in and put our luggage in our room before returning our rental car (as we wouldn't need one in Munich). This parking is also available for overnight guests at a cost if you have a car. We had booked a room overlooking the street as I wanted to feel like part of the Munich action. We did not find it too noisy to sleep. The hotel also has AC which is sometimes difficult to find. We were there in August and had hit an odd weather pattern of chilly weather and rain so it ended up not being needed. Our room was small (which we expected) but very comfortable and well appointed with everything we needed.
The breakfast room was very nice with a good selection.
The hotel is pretty - It was wonderful to enter it after a day of sightseeing.
The location cannot be beat. You are a mere minutes walk from Marienplatz, Vitualienmarkt, the S-bahn Marienplatz station, shoppiing, many restaurants, sites....etc etc etc. Literally cannot be beat. We walked everywhere and only took public transit to get to the airport at the end of our stay (which was easy to do).
The location made it possible to pop in and out of our room during the day if we needed. It also allowed my husband to grab a nap while I did some shopping on my own which I felt very safe doing so.
We loved Munich and it was a great ending to our vacation and would highly recommend this hotel.

Let me start with what was good about this hotel.
The location, as others have stated, is excellent, only a couple of minutes from Marienplatz and the S-bahn so easy to visit all the main sights. The breakfast was lovely, lots to choose from, as long as you got down early enough, otherwise you were just left with the dregs. The air conditioning in the bedroom was great and with 30 degree + temperatures it was very welcome.
Now for what we didn’t rate.
The bedroom was awful for the price we paid. It was dark and dingy with a small window overlooking a fire escape although, because the window was so small, it was difficult to tell exactly what it was. We booked a courtyard view room, but we couldn’t see anything, let alone a courtyard. The furniture was dark brown, old and tatty. My granny had the same carpet in her house over 50 years ago.
The staff generally were quite abrupt with little warmth and showed little respect for their guests. The guy on reception at night was just downright rude. We had to check out at 4am due to an early flight. We arrived at reception to check out (I’d checked earlier in the day that this would be possible), he didn’t look up or acknowledge us. We stood there at 4am like a couple of lemons while he continued to look at his computer screen. Eventually I had to say ‘ excuse me, sorry to bother you, but can we check out please’. He snatched the door key out of my hand, looked at the screen and said it had been settled. So rude!
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. For over £200 per night, there’s got to be better hotels out there. Sacrifice location for a nicer hotel and less rude staff.

I had a great time here as a solo traveler. I loved my tiny room which had everything I needed and a nice view of the courtyard, and they allowed me to check in at 10am after a long flight which let me shower and enjoy my first day in Munich. The location is perfect for walking through town as everyone has mentioned, and I also borrowed one of their free bikes and had a great time riding through the Englischen Garten and eating at the bier garten on the lake there. Breakfast was perfect, just what I wanted with tons of options and good coffee. I will definitely stay again when I come back to Munich!
