We were given a free room upgrade which we were very impressed with including the spacious size of room, comfortable beds and a superior bathroom/shower room. The buffet breakfast covered every dietary preference and requirements and was served in beautiful dining rooms. The staff were very attentive and the whole experience was enjoyable each morning. The Bar team also provided an excellent service and again the magnificent surroundings are what you would expect from a five star Hotel.
Although our experience in Munich was somewhat stressful as our luggage never arrived until late on our final night we loved staying in the Hotel so much that we are eager to revisit next year.
Our two connecting rooms were good with plenty of closets and nice bathrooms although I find these Toto toilets really annoying as they keep turning on and making noises even if you are not near them.
The indoor pool here is good, but there is no swimsuit spinner; they removed it for covid and haven't brought it back. There is a steam room as well. The problem here is that they close all this down at 9, including the gym which is really small for a 5-star hotel. I was told that they recently enlarged the gym, which makes you wonder how awful it was before. They need to enlarge this, especially since if more than 2-3 people are there, it's cramped. There is a large machine there which is not intuitive to use even though there is a video playing on the wall that describes it, and it takes up half the room. They need to look past enlarging that space and just find a better place to put the gym. If I were here on a business trip, I'd not want to be stuck at this hotel without a a real gym and no facilities after 9pm. But if location were key and you were here for one night, you don't need to look further than this place. Otherwise, the Bayerischer Hof or the Charles hotels would be worth a good look.

Yes, the hotel is a 5* superior hotel - yes, it brings everything with it to be exceptional and this categorisation is right about it too. Upon arrival, the door area is always well staggered and you always have the feeling of 5 stars luxury as soon as you enter.
The food and beverage offer is very good and varied.
The design of the lobby is of course phenomenal and captivates with timeless elegance - quite contrasting but by no means contradicting the style of the house.
Staff are professional, service-oriented and attentive in all areas at all times. Smaller deficits are of course also due to the general shortage of skilled workers on the market. My special gratitude goes to the two ladies in Red Pia and Romy.
The rate was good and I received a nice upgrade, even flexible check in and check out times were no problem - thank you to the hotel for that.
But this was immediately clouded by the following things (room 601) / Among the criticisms:
-There was a door malfunction throughout the stay, the key cards had to be recoded several times. I probably had to call someone three times. In this latency, of course, very annoying for the guest. Only on the day of departure did a technician take care of this.
-The window in the sleeping area was broken and came loose from the anchorage, which is quite a safety risk. Again, training. Something like this must be noticeable before renting the room.
-I had to kill two creepers in the shower area, extremely unappetizing
-The TV sometimes had a frozen image and was often a bit slow in response speed
-It's extremely strange that as a houseguest you don't get a seat despite notice of a visit evening at the bar and external guests are sometimes even given preferential treatment.
Some things may seem a bit meticulous, but I think above a certain offered and advertised standard a hotel must maintain a certain level of service permanently.
I addressed things both at check-out and in the guest survey, but apart from a very thin apology, no feedback was received. The gummy bears from the minibar were still billed as if nothing had happened. I think everyone knows what is meant...
A good hotel with potential to go up!
First, while the rooms have been nicely renovated, I was struck by the contradiction between the hotel’s environmental messaging and its actual practices. The air conditioning system cools the rooms down to a chilly 18 degrees Celsius, which makes their appeal to reuse towels for the sake of the environment feel somewhat insincere. This gives the impression that the hotel is more focused on marketing a green image rather than genuinely committing to sustainability.
Another disappointment was the restricted hours of the gym, which is only open from 7 AM to 9 PM. For an international hotel that aims to be among the best in Munich, these hours are impractical, especially for guests traveling from different time zones who may need access to fitness facilities at unconventional hours.
While the hotel’s location is indeed fantastic, I found that its services and overall approach feel out of touch with the needs of today’s travelers. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected more in terms of both convenience and a genuine alignment between their values and practices.
The Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski München, located on Maximilianstrasse, is centrally located and an easy walk to restaurants, shopping, Christmas markets, and beer halls. Service is outstanding. Beautifully decorated lobby.
Bad:
Not a 5 star hotel - rooms are extremely small even for European standards. Bedding was more 3-star level.
Bar is nice but small and terrible service.
Lobby has a lobby bar and limited food service but it's too small and on weekend evenings taken over by primarily non-guests. Frustrating as a guest that you are told they can't reserve seating only at night to see areas with reserved signage.
Ugly
The pop-up gondola bar & restaurant at the hotel entrance made it almost impossible to enter or leave the hotel. The hotel doesn't advertise it to potential guests nor are guests given special preference to booking time slots - check out the Ritz Vienna's website.
The hotel is not ADA friendly so if you are handicapped stay away.
1) They improperly handled and disrespected my religious items, squashing the items and not handling with care. This is completely unacceptable and a violation of my rights.
2) They lost a very important and confidential SIM card and took no responsibility for this.
3) They used the card I had put down for a deposit to attempt to charge me for an additional half a day, which I did not even stay and they did this without my permission or awareness. This is a financial breach of contract.
4) And lastly, the worst level of service I have ever had, was that they entered my room without me being present and removed all of my personal items and possessions, throwing it outside. They opened the safe in my room, removing all of my expensive and confidential items and shoved it into various pockets of my suitcase. This is a serious breach of privacy and should be reported.
I am a very private and discreet individual, and have stayed in hundreds of hotels, always of the best and top service, and have never been disrespected in this manner. This is the most unprofessional service I have encountered in all my years of travel.
This hotel will not handle your items with care or respect, they will lose your items and take no responsibility, and they will throw your items out without your permission. They should not be considered a 5-star hotel with the way they treat you. I felt extremely unwelcome throughout my stay. Do not stay here.
