Hotel MIO by AMANO garners attention for its stylish decor and prime location, favored by guests for its proximity to Marienplatz and shopping areas. While the hotel's value proposition receives mixed reviews, particularly during peak events like Oktoberfest, many travelers commend the property's cleanliness and modern rooms. However, some visitors have noted the rooms are on the smaller side and suggest that amenities, including pillows and Wi-Fi, could be improved. Service experiences also vary, with the breakfast staff often receiving praise, in contrast to the less consistent service reported at the front desk.

A small hotel located in the pedestrian road of Sendlinger Str.
The place is excellent for walking in downtown Munich. All are within walking distance.
A couple of parking spots are within 5 minutes where one can park his/her car (cost about 20 euros per 24 hours).
The only drawback is the size of the rooms. Even the largest rooms are small, if compared with other establishments. Nevertheless the proximity of the hotel to all important places in downtown Munich is what’s important. Larger hotels can be found outside central Munich.
The hotel is new and clean and the staff is mostly helpful (with very minor exceptions). Breakfast is average.
Overall a good experience.

Modern hotel in a great location. Great shower! Rooms are definitely on the small side. Ask for a rooms at the back half of the hotel if you need to use the free wifi; it doesn’t work in the front half.

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at this hotel while we were in Munich to see the Christmas markets. The hotel's very convenient to the train station -- it's an easy walk of a mile or so. It's also convenient to the Christmas markets; the few stalls at Senlinger Tor are very close, and it doesn't take long to get to the markets at Marienplatz. The hotel is very modern and clean. Bedrooms seem to be on the smallish side; there's not a lot of room to maneuver around the bed(s). But bathrooms are a decent size. We didn't try the breakfast, which seemed rather expensive (19 Euro per person!). But there are many restaurants and stores nearby where you can purchase food. All rooms are several floors up (the lobby is up a flight from the ground floor, and guest rooms start on the floor above that), so there's virtually no street noise even though the hotel's located in a fairly busy pedestrian area.

Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Stayed at this hotel and honestly feel like we were robbed. The ‘art and luxury’ style they are trying to achieve completely detracts from the very essence of what a hotel should provide.

The ‘nice’ room we were given was basically a converted attic with one small window, no cupboards to place our things, cold wooden floods, rock solid beds and pillows that were the most uncomfortable things I have ever laid on and no kettle or tea or coffee making facilities.

The hotel insist on full payment on check in and probably the reason they do this is because they know that what they are providing in terms of comfort is way below par.

In the end, we checked out a day early it was so bad and they told us the hotel was fully booked so they couldn’t offer us a refund for the night. We noted that when we left our room was instantly advertised which further illustrates their lack of sincerity and very questionable customer service.

Avoid at all costs.

The hotel is quite new and modern, perfectly located in the center of the city in one of the shopping streets. Reasonably priced considering the location with modern interior/furniture. The regular rooms are small but convenient and the toilets are equipped with modern utilities. People from the front desk were very friendly and helpful, especially Marina who was always very nice and assisted us in all our requests with a smile. The place is definetely worth staying at.

We were very satisfied with our stay, loved that the hotel was clean and modern. They had GHD air dryers, premium hand soap and shower soaps, and great AC unit! Breakfast is not included but still was a good choice if you wanted to eat down stairs. The location is great as everything was within walking distance (marienplatz, Deutches science museum, Viktualienmarket) and there is lots of shopping both directly on the hotel street and luxury shopping within walking distance. Be aware that eating the restaurants right on the street is more expensive than walking 5-10 min away (yes for traditional German food/beers)

Pros - This hotel was in a great location. The room was small but had very nice furnishings and a comfortable bed. The rooms were also very clean.
Cons - When I arrived, the front desk personnel checked me into a room that belonged to another guest. Fortunately, the guest was not in her room. I was then assigned a room on the top floor. The window in the new room was very nice but I didn't realize until later that the window was broken...as it wouldn't close. It was fine in the early evening when it was relatively quiet. However, there was a lot of street noise in the middle of the night that kept me awake. The next morning I reported the window issue to the front desk personnel; the personnel inspected the window and told me that I would need to change rooms. I was issued a key to move into the new room. Later that night when I was sleeping in the new room, another hotel guest woke me up, as he was opening the door to my room with his key. Apparently, he had been assigned to my room. I soon discovered that the hotel personnel had changed my room key so I was unable to enter my room. I had to discuss this problem with the front desk personnel to have them reissue my room keys. Also, the WiFi didn't work well (I had to log in a couple of times a day). The Customer Service IPad in the room indicated that it was out of service and directed me to the front desk, to address my concerns. My husband and I also had laundry. The tag on the laundry bag indicated that if we brought our laundry to the front desk by 9am that it would be ready by the end of the day. As instructed on the form, we brought the laundry to the front desk before 9am on a Monday. Tuesday was a holiday so I was advised that the laundry would not be ready until Wednesday afternoon. This was not explained on the laundry forms; the forms were misleading.
My stay was during Octoberfest, when the hotel was sold out. My hope is that a guest staying at a different time of year might have more luck with this hotel.

The location of the hotel is great and the room was nice and well arranged, despite being a little small. However, the service of the hotel was quite bad : the reception desk was not friendly at all and there was a loud private event taking place at the hotel bar the night we spent there : we could hear the music from our room until late at night. The cherry on the cake was the housekeeping staff knocking on all the doors to do the rooms and vacuuming the hallway at 8:30 in the morning. When we complained about that, the only explanation we received was that this was a recurrent issue already signalled to the housekeeping staff, but that they keep « forgetting » that they were not supposed to do that… not very convincing.

This is a great hotel. It is modern, clean, and in a great location. The rooms are not large, but it is enough for one person to sleep in at least. I had to keep my luggage on my bed because there was no where else to really place it. The bathroom was fine, the bed was fine, and the pillows are very soft and plush.

We were staying one night overnight before flying out of Munich airport the following day so had one day to jam pack all we could. The hotel is in an excellent location, we had a room at the back of the hotel so noise was not a problem. We did have a larger room and it was worth paying. Breakfast was excellent and staff were most helpful if we needed anything

Hi, how easy to get to the airport by train?
Answer from Georg
Belleville, Michigan16 contributions5 helpful votes
The Hotel is in walking distance to the "Sendlinger Tor", no problem even with luggage. From there you can go directly to the airport. Sendlinger Tor to Munich Airport (MUC) train services, operated by Deutsche Bahn Regional, arrive at Muenchen Flughafen Terminal station. The driving distance between Sendlinger Tor to Munich Airport (MUC) is 37 km. It takes approximately 27 min to drive from Sendlinger Tor to Munich Airport (MUC). I am pretty sure there is a direct connection, therefore you will not have to switch trains, but you might need to double check. Hope that helps.
