We stayed here overnight so that we could maximise our visit to the castles of the area. While it is very basic and bathrooms are shared it is extremely clean and smells fresh. The restaurant serves a good breakfast and the outlook and location at the base of Neuschwanstein Castle is hard to beat. The only downside is that meals...

Ok you come here for one reason only, to visit Neuschwanstein castle. And there simply isn't any accommodation closer than Schlossrestaurant. The pros: Unbeatable location, literally steps from the castle. Super comfortable rooms, spacious and an excellent latex king bed. Nice breakfast. The cons: It's in the middle of nowhere, so you're stuck here unless you feel like the big...

You cannot get any closer to the castle than this! Staff were really friendly. We got there after 6, so checked ourselves in by calling the staff member, who gave us a code to access our key. Fantastic being there over night, as all the tourists leave after 6, and you literally can experience all the beauty without the business....

Staying in this hotel allows you to drive to within a 5 min walk to Neuschwanstein castle. It is a very basic older hotel above a tourist restaurant that closes at 6 pm. We booked a shared bath room but were upgraded on arrival to a room with a bath. The bath is obviously added. The shower stall is actually...

This location cannot be beat! It was a bit of a challenge driving up the first day, but if you try to limit car trips to first thing in the morning or later in the evening when the tourist traffic has died down it is no issue at all. Our room was clean and comfortable. My husband states it was...

The location absolutely can't be beat. The hotel is directly below the castle. Access can be a bit confusing, as only those staying at the hotel can drive up the access road. Otherwise, it's just walkers and horse drawn carriages. This led to some dirty looks. There is a person manning the road (1/2 way up). Make sure to have...

Unfamiliar with the area, I booked this Gausthaus and could not have been happier. Not only is it the closest hotel to the Castle with fabulous views from our window, you can drive up to the hotel on a pedestrian street open only to guests of the hotel. This saves you approximate 1 mile hike up the mountain. The restaurant...

While traveling through the Bavaria region, we had planed to visit the castle and decided to stay at Schlossrestaurant Neuschwanstein. This was a grand and historical building with free parking and a short walk to the castle, However it did not have air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Non the less, it was a great place to stay.

Stayed here for one night in September to visit Neuschwanstein castle and the surrounding area. This is the only hotel which is located at the top of the hill near the castle, I'd stay here again for this reason alone. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and they offer you a voucher with 10% off admission to the castle,...

Stayed here for an evening prior to visiting Neuschwanstein castle. The location is perfect and couldn't be better - the hotel is right at the top of the hill, and only about a 400m walk from the entrance to the castle. We visited the Marienbrucke when we arrived, and were able to get up early the next morning to visit...
