"The Avancher spirit remains in a brand new setting. Built more than 60 years ago, the Avancher Hotel has completely been rebuilt during Summer 2017. Frédéric Monneret and his team have managed to reconcile the warm and friendly atmosphere of this historic cottage with the comfort of a hotel of today. The 37 rooms from 24 to 61 m² have got all the equipment for a cozy stay: king size bed, large flat screen TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, bath, refrigerator, safe, kettle... Nothing has been forgotten, a renowned restaurant where we kept the same recipe: a gourmet cuisine with fresh and local products. A bar with two atmospheres: wine bar on one side, lounge and fireplace on the other side. A spa with a Jacuzzi, 2 Saunas, a Hammam and a massage room, all with a breathtaking view of the mythical Bellevarde Olympic face, a children's playroom, a covered parking area with a Tesla charger located in the basement of the hotel. A 5 minutes’ walk from the center of the resort and 50 m from the free bus stop, you can enjoy the animations of the resort without undergoing its noise. In addition, you will return directly skis to the feet to the hotel. Finally, Frédéric and his team know how to make your life easier: they will organize your transfers or ski passes bookings. "

Here is what I appreciated about this hotel:
1) It is new and a little bit outside of town, so it is in a quiet location.
2) Rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious.
3) Parking is underground and we very much appreciated that, as it snowed the whole time we were there.
4) It is very well managed, and the front desk clerks were all extremely accommodating.
5) The meals are excellent. I would recommend not getting the half board, otherwise your dinner choices are limited. The meals all get an "A+" for presentation and taste.
6) For 20 Euros, you can get a bag full of laundry cleaned. It's a great deal!
7) The hotel is close to bus stops in both directions.
8) Across the street from the hotel are a grocery store and a ski shop; they did the best job of tuning our ski's that we have ever had. Really!
9) We enjoyed meeting some of the other guests, who were delightful.
10) The ski room is VERY nice, clean, and spacious, easily accessible to/from the outside.
11) We both had massages and the masseuse did a fairly good job.
This place is a winner!

We stayed at Hotel Avancher for 8 nights for a winter skiing holiday and were impressed with every aspect of the hotel.
The reception staff are very friendly and helpful and you can organise a transfer (€100) from Bourg St Maurice with them as well as buy your lift pass making your arrival a little easier.
The rooms are spacious, offer a huge bed and a very good shower. Good quality pillows and duvets.
The rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard.
There are dressing gowns and slippers in each room as well for your comfort.
The spa facilities are impeccably well maintained - there are 2 saunas, a steam room and jacuzzi.
The breakfast offered is fantastic - there is a range of fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, cold meats and cheese, fresh bread and pastry, bacon/sausage/egg. There is always plenty and it's always hot and fresh.
The hotel bar / lounge area is cosy and quiet. There is a lovely fire making it warm and friendly. The drinks menu is very inclusive including an impressive wine selection.

The only points of feedback we have are:
The roof sauna was never hotter than 50 degrees during our stay - unsure if it was broken?
There are few ( only hand wash and a shampoo/body wash combo) toiletries in the room which surprised me given the standard of the hotel
Despite the spa being for >16s only, there were regularly multiple small children running around. I understand this sounds very pedantic but its a small area making it difficult to relax.

Other than that, we don't have a bad word to say about this hotel. We are actually planning on returning again next year!

Thank you!

Good morning, The whole team is mobilizing to make you have a pleasant holiday: this is our goal. Thank you for your encouragement. To address the negatives you identified: - We had a little breakdown with the sauna on the roof when you came in. It is now repaired! - As for the children in the spa, we are trying to prevent them from coming to this place of relaxation, but some do not listen to the rules... And we are sorry that we were not present at that time to address the issue. We hope to see you soon. See you soon to share other good times together!

Stayed here for two weeks at the beginning of March 2020. Very comfortable and nicely finished, clean rooms, excellent spa facilities, friendly staff. Felt really relaxed and safe here, it was quiet (which we like) only a short walk into the main village, and it's conveniently across the road from a small supermarket and pizza takeaway if you don't fancy eating in an expensive restaurant every night. Reception happily sorted our lift passes for us, and were very helpful with restaurant recommendations. Had to get the bus to the ski lifts in the morning which was sometimes quite crowded. The lockers in the ski room are a bit small and it would have been nice to have a couple of chairs to sit out on the balcony. Overall very happy with this hotel and we would come back.

Overall, very charming and friendly personnel. Rooms very much too our Taste, big enough. Very clean. Excellent breakfast with quite some variety. We had half board, and got each day of our week different but tasty plates (each day two choices for starter and mains, and three dessert options). All was as we had hoped for. And the wellness accomodation is a much appreciated benefit after a day in the cold.
One remark: one waiter was rather distant, as if uninterested in his waiting job.

Hotel Avancher was perfect in every way! This was our first visit to Val d'isere, and we couldn't recommend this hotel enough! Should be 4 stars, not 3. The receptionist was helpful and very responsive with all my pre arrival questions and with anything else we needed ie. Ski passes, dinner reservations, etc. The entire staff was incredibly nice, including everyone at the restaurant and bar. They even
arranged for a take away breakfast and opened the breakfast room early for us for coffee our last day as we had an early morning departure. Breakfast was yummy and plentiful. We ate there for dinner one night, and food/service were very good.
The location is perfect, a few minute walk to the convenient bus which drops you feet from the lifts, and directly across the street from the ski shop and grocery store, and close enough to town to walk to and from town for dinner. We took advantage of the heated boot room and sauna with a lovely view. The rooms were spacious enough, with ample storage, nooks, shelves, etc and good lighting- more than much larger condos that we have stayed in. We are from the US and thought this hotel was an incredible value.

This is our second time staying in the hotel, and we had a fabulous stay. The hotel staff are all so welcoming, friendly and helpful, and this gives a lovely vibe.

I stayed here with my husband and two teenage children. The hotel room was very clean and nicely decorated. There was plenty of space for clothes, luggage etc, and it was a nice space to relax in.

There is a boot room with heated lockers to store your skis and boots etc overnight.

The breakfasts were perfect to set you up for a day's skiing, a real varied selection on offer and there was gluten free bread available for my daughter. It was always very clean and calm, despite the number of people rushing to have breakfast before ski school!

We ate in the restaurant most nights and the food was excellent. Quality ingredients used and all presented to a high standard. Again, the staff in the restaurant were fantastic.

I would definitely recommend L'Avancher and will definitely stay here when we next go to Val d'Isere.

Very welcoming to our group of 9 men from England.
Excellent food, drink, service and ambiance.
The price for the quality was very fair and we ate and drank here twice in out week holiday.
There is a lovely separate bar to move to after food.
Every member of staff was great at their job and made us feel very welcome (despite being a group of lads 😁)

This is a really excellent hotel. The room was clean, spacious and warm with lots of natural light, it had all the amenities needed and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and had lots of options. The restaurant, bar and spa were all amazing, and the ski room and luggage room were also very useful! The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is nice because being slightly away from the slopes and centre of town means it's quiet but still close enough to walk to anything you need, and Val is a gorgeous place to stay! We would definitely visit Hotel Avancher again!

We stayed here in February 2022 as a group of 6 friends for a skiing holiday. We had a self contained 2 floor apartment which was great.

The hotel is modern and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was pleasant and has everything you need. We dined in the restaurant one evening and the food was excellent. The bar was is very nice although expensive even for Val d'Isere standards.

You can ski in/out of this hotel which isn't mentioned on other reviews. As long as you don't mind a small amount of polling out in the morning. Alternatively its a 5-10 minute to the ski lifts or you

what spa facilities are open and closed during Covid-19?
Val d'Isère, France
Hello Rita, Thank you for your enquiry. We are able to make either separate twin beds or a large double bed in most of our rooms ; and we always enquire about our guest's bedding preference. All our rooms have private bathroom and toilets inside the room. Most rooms have bathtubs and a few ones have showers. We always do our best to fulfill our guest's requests. In this case a room with a bathtub is available, so we will be happy to book it for you. We do have a half-board option : the rate is 30€ per person per day for a meal with starter, main and dessert ; drinks not included. Please note that this has to be booked with the room ; and that the restaurant is closed on Mondays. If you wish to book, you may do it online on our website, or send your request via our contact form and we will get back to you with a detailed booking offer. We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you in L'Avancher !

Sandra
