We got a decent rate for this quality of hotel. Great location. Walking distance to everything in Lyon including the old town. Rooms are comfortable. never tried food but it is pricy. Try Sud restaurant (turn left outside the hotel and five mins walk (faces the river at the end of Place Bellecour). Sunday morning market on the other river...

The Sofitel Bellecour was an overall disappointment. It isn’t a bad hotel, but based on my one other Sofitel experience, I expected better. With that said, the magnificent city of Lyon more than made up for it. The hotel’s location is just a short walk from an amazing array of restaurants, bistros, shops, clubs, and the old town. It is...

The Sofitel Lyon really is fantastic - you get what you pay for! The rooms are plush and comfy, the bed was magically comfortable, the location is excellent, the staff were terrific - nothing was too much trouble, the room service was impressive, breakfast was sensational, the very funky lobby bar is great (especially the whisky cart!), the top floor...

We stayed here for a week in September. I have had some great stays with Sofitel worldwide and arrived expecting the same. I was unpleasantly surprised. This hotel looks like a tower block & needs major refurbishment. Our room looked liked a bad hospital from the 80's cheap laminated furniture that would not be out of place in a skip....

Just a note to say that this time the penthouse restaurant & bar were being renovated, more's the pity. Fantastic Sofitel beds as ever, views on the Rhône river and a very friendly barman to pour the champagne. Attentive service Downside: Breakfast simply too expensive and wifi not free, there's no excuse for that and it's the only real downer....

We stayed at the Sofitel Hotel in Lyon, Bellecour, for 3 nights in Sept.2009. The hotel was centrally located directly on the Rhone river, near the tourist office and public transportation. The room was large, and well equipped, however there was an opaque window between the bedroom and the bathroom so when I used the bath, my companion complained about...

Great location near shopping district in Lyon. Convenient to major highways and attractions. We used this hotel as a one-night stopover on the way to Avignon. Service and reception was very friendly and helpful.

This hotel is very expensive, but does have one abiding virtue - the restaurant and bar offer great views of the city from the top floor. My family (5 people) visited last year, but my eldest son was in Borneo so unable to come with us. Booked again this year while travelling through, but despite explaining the purpose of the...

We chose the Sofitel in Lyon to start our weektravelling down the Rhone and were very glad we did. The hotel is in a great location on the banks of the Rhone just two minutes fronm the main shopping area and five minutes walk from the old town. There are at least twenty places to eat in the area but...

We drove to Lyon & spent 6 nights there (not wishing to use the car particularly in the city), so needed a central hotel with secure parking, & the Sofitel was a real gem. OK, so it's not cheap, but what a treat! Getting there was easy (literally 200 metres off the autoroute, which goes right through the centre of...
