Once you have made your reservation at the last minute to celebrate the night of the Réveillon in an unusual way, we find availability in the chalet "La Batie". We also take advantage of this by briefly reading some positive reviews. The chalet is located lower and just away from the main structure. A small problem if the short but challenging slope to reach it is snowy and icy. So much so that as soon as we get there, they hand us crampons. Another small problem is that being not really close to the main chalet, in winter, it is not easy to reach the sauna and the Turkish bath, but you have an outdoor heated jacuzzi with a view. La Batie is a chalet on three levels. On the ground floor a room used as a small living room for breakfast, on the first floor however connected with an external staircase another small living room which is in fact the main bathroom and, this time internal, another staircase leading to the bedroom upstairs. From here priceless views of Chamonix thanks to the large windows. An efficient fireplace will make the moment of sunset and dusk even more pleasant and relaxing. However, it should also be noted that the large windows are free of blackout curtains. This has a negative impact on a proper rest, as until after midnight powerful headlights are switched on that also illuminate the bedroom of La Batie during the day. There are also, for obvious reasons of space, cupboards for storing your clothes. It is therefore necessary to carry as little as possible and better if in backpacks or small suitcases and in numbers not exceeding one / two. To emphasize that toilet and shower do not have doors to close but only a curtain that separates them from the living room area. The restaurant is located in the main chalet. The New Year's Eve menu on the whole to be considered good in a typically mountain location with details that denote a refined style, which made the evening pleasant and harmonious. Breakfast equally good and full in both versions. Services that suit the structure that does not fit into the hotel fees you expect. It's something different, closer to a particular "widespread hotel" experience, not recommended for those who love situations of absolute comfort and for those with mobility difficulties even temporary. For every request you will meet the kindness of the highly efficient Jean-Claude, always ready to meet any customer needs. Also pleasant to be able to exchange a few words with the owner Philippe. Prices overestimated, but the period was clearly very high season and therefore understandable. Overall, therefore, it will remain a pleasant memory.

We spent 2 days at Philippe's house, with family (couple + 13 years old + 17 years old). No recommendation, no waiting, it was a last minute reservation.

If we had to be brief, we would recommend anyone to try this rare and authentic experience, just a few minutes from the center of Chamonix.

Arriving early and lucky that the rooms were already ready, we went hiking directly in front of the hamlet to walk to a magnificent viewpoint over the arrival of the Mer de Glace. Back, we enjoyed the jacuzzi with the glacier in the background, surrounded by beautiful alpine vegetation and flowers, then enjoyed the hammam and sauna. But the experience would become unforgettable by dining at the Chef's table, in a small group: the cuisine is as authentic as this hamlet, the dishes come in reasonable quantities to be able to savor each of them, and the cooks, who we sees the work behind a large window, are clearly happy to work with this quality. But what makes this meal special is the presence of Philippe, passionate about everything, having had 1000 lives, never monologuing, and repeating over and over again that he "didn't go to school " when we could sit and listen to his stories every day.

We noted this address and we will definitely come back.

Three days in love in hiking mode, jaccuzi and good little dishes from the chef's table in the evening. AMAZING!! I highly recommend it. Philippe, the property owner, will welcome you with open arms and will give you the best tips to discover the area.

I come regularly for several years to Chalet de Philippe. Obviously the bucolic and enchanting setting, the outdoor jacouzzis and the atypical side of the accommodations make the stay pleasant. Despite everything the value for money is not there at all and it would deserve to improve the services. When you pay 800 euros a night, the least you can do is to make available to guests 2 small bottles of crystal water ( 20 cents per unit). My friend had a nosebleed and he couldn't find a simple tissue box. A curtain was missing in front of my bed I had to caulk with a terry towel. The bathrobes are of poor quality (or in the middle of winter when you leave the jacouzzi and it is -2 degrees it is essential to warm up quickly or risk catching death) . At one time the soaps offered were from Hermès , this is no longer the case (it saves everywhere ) .. And for 800 euros do not expect to have a small beauty kit with cotton stem , small toothbrush emergency etc.. My friend was snoring and therefore tried to go to sleep on the sofa bed.
He literally slept on springs, the mattress was 3cm thick. He never managed to sleep. Is it complicated to put on a proper sofa bed? It does not seem to me that it costs a fortune though!!
It would take little for things to improve but there is a manager who does not take his job seriously and who obviously does not care about perfecting the customer experience. Too bad!!

The setting is superb, the decoration sought, but it is a shame that in a hotel of this category tissues and papers or a beauty kit are not found in the rooms
Also note on the quality of the bathrobes and honeycomb towels, that is to say that do not sponge anything. When we offer Jacuzzis on the terraces, quality linen would be desirable and sizes that allow a person of good build to close them, as is done in all hotels of good standard, at these price levels we must take care of the details

TO ESCAPE!!!!! A SHAME: The place is beautiful when you don't look in the details!!
We had rented the baroque suite: a shame (stained sheets / insect in the shower / toilet brush with residue present / dust and spider web and a smell!!!!)
After 10 min I had an asthma attack that took me 30 min to calm down.
We decided to leave after 1 hour 30 minutes because it was not possible to sleep in this suite so unhealthy and I weigh my words ( attached photos )
When we announced our Check-out showing why we were offered an “upgrade” but how to trust the cleanliness of the other cottage!!!!
We asked for the cancellation of this Reservation but we were kindly told that we had enjoyed the whole afternoon (when we arrived at 6pm and left before 8pm ) of the suite and that we had been offered another chalet so dismissive attitude because the property owner saw the state of the suite and the sheets and in his place I would have offered myself the refund....
In short, the dream of spending a night in this establishment turned into a nightmare and even if we lost money we do not regret having fled this establishment
The property owner boasts of welcoming stars like Kylie Minogue but is not respectful of guests who meet a justified concern and limits himself behind excuses to refuse the refund: offer of upgrade (in a cottage where we are not sure of the cleaning either) etc.
The photos prove my claims (soiled sheets , dust on the curtains , on the decoration, state of the sockets, crawling in the shower, brush and garbage in the toilet and even the cactus placed on the coffee table says a lot about the lack of maintenance of this establishment or at least this suite )

This Pension which claims to be upscale is very aging .. under the pretext of being authentic it is very poorly maintained. Flaked paint, falling tiles... The height is that for the restaurant if you want a fondue (which is commonplace in Haute Savoie ) well they tell you that it is not possible to eat it in the restaurant room because it inconveniences other guests! So they suggest you help yourself in the room! Great Fondue in a Pension Room... Never seen it! Having refused they relegate you to a sober and completely isolated room, downright sleazy! And obviously you are served any way. We bring you the fondue and the glass of wine and then nobody comes to see if everything is okay ... we still wait for the carafe of water and the salad that goes with the fondue ... incredibly lame

My stay at this Inn in Chamonix was absolutely amazing. The location, nestled in the heart of the mountains, offered breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere, perfect for recharging. The chalet itself and the rooms are charming, combining modern comfort with mountain authenticity, with impeccable cleanliness.
But what really made the difference was the welcome of the manager. With an extraordinary kindness and attention, he made my stay even more special. Always available for advice or to make sure everything went well, he created a family and friendly atmosphere.
I recommend this place without hesitation and I can't wait to go back!
Honestly, go ahead with your eyes closed!

To improve:

-Virgin room, double glazing would be required with a sealed door with seal, because the air passes underneath and on the sides.

-Hammam the air passes underneath, it takes too long to warm up, the ground was frozen, it is very unpleasant.

-Restaurant meat too hard (rum steak requires blue cooking) and biscuit dessert too hard. For people who have toothache or who have had complicated surgery to eat the meal.

Good points :

Excellent jacuzzi and sauna
Amazing breakfast
Magnificent panoramic view
Very warm welcome.

Absolutely horrible experience. We booked a king sized room with a private jacuzzi and an ATTACHED bathroom. We showed up and our room was in the restaurant, the jacuzzi was on the restaurant terrace among all of the tables and our bathroom was in the dining hall, outside of our room, with only a curtain for privacy. We were horrified when we checked in and the staff didn’t think it was a big deal in fact they said, “private means nobody else can use it” — but everyone can see you. Really awful service overall, we weren’t allowed a seat at dinner in the restaurant and the staff berrated us for complaining and told us that it was none of their business if we were upset. Really horrible room — feels like we were in staff quarters although we booked the king delux. I would suggest any other place nearby. Plenty of beautiful hotels and chalets in the area.

Response from Philippe Courtines, Propriétaire at Les Chalets de Philippe
Responded 25 Aug 2024
Our customers left the hotel in the morning around 9am, without paying the tourist tax, without reimbursing the 40 euros that our receptionist had given them the day before, it was our manager who had to stop them at the exit to settle their debts. In addition, they gave a very bad rating to our restaurant, (1/5 on Google), while they did not have dinner with us, and they did not have breakfast with us neihter. We have informed the hotel union of this fraudulent and lying behavior. Kind Regards,
