So - if you want modern luxurious chic go elsewhere - if you want some character but still have fantastic views, hot water, nice clean white sheets, comfy bed and lovely staff? read on.... Breakfast has fresh bakery, continental style plus eggs and good coffee machine whilst looking at Mont Blanc through huge windows. Our room had views to the mountain and yes - in desparate need of uplift, but lovely. Its run by family. Claire is lovely and will tell you all the history of the place - very knowledgable and charming - makes you feel very welcome. Evelyn will put a smile on your face wth her wit! The location is perfect - ski buses leave from the rear of the hotel (don't have to walk that alleged 'steep' slope people talk about on other reviews - it just a drive!!! The front of the hotel leads to the main road with everything you could need. Noise was not an issue for us and we were at the front with a balcony. So.... if you want luxury go elsewhere - if you want a lovely time and something to remember - come here. We would recommend it and hopefully will return. Thank you Claire. (Clare & Andy - Scotland)…
This hotel is pure funk. It should star in a Wes Anderson movie. I loved every little detail, the mosaic floor, the wood floor, the carpets! If you go in the winter you’ll have to negotiate an icy circle drive that’s a challenge on the way up and a slippery hazard on the way down, but once you’ve exited you’re right in the thick of things, restaurants, shops, and lots of people.
The location and front desk staff are amazing. Breakfast is good but could be more expansive. My room only had a claw tooth tub and no shower. The housekeeping only gave me one soap and two small packets for shampoo the entire four nights I stayed there.
This is a superb 2-star hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly and the location is right on the pedestrian walkway with close restaurants in both directions. In addition, the bus stop for Les Houches is close behind the hotel. The breakfast is fine-- fairly typical for hotels in this area with an assortment of breads, cereal, eggs to boil and yogurt. If you're considering accessibility, there are about 7 steps to get into the hotel and a fairly steep, somewhat bumpy driveway down to the pedestrian walkway. There is a lift inside. There is a pub right across the street and as our room was on the front we could hear people there, but not so much that we couldn't fall asleep. There is parking available at the hotel.
A great place to relax after TMB hike. The room is very spacious (may be 50 sq metres) with the full view of Mont Blanc. Located in the city centre, and though it is a little way out of the main road, some noise from the restaurants nearby can still be heard in the wee hours. Some maintenance is needed, but overall it is clean and neat. Breakfast is definitely above par, with good qualities and selections. From the breakfast table, you can see the total unblocked view of the mountains from the full length glass installed at the restaurant. We were very fortunate to be able to get a room on the day as immediately the next day, the hotel was closed for the season.
