Rating would be between 3 and 4 for "Good".
The Hostel du Manoir forever was our favorite accommodation with its authentic cachet and proximity to the center.
This year we have seen a change of direction confirmed by the welcome which also results in a decrease in services but on the other hand an increase in room rates and parking (exorbitant)!
In the room more mini bar (either), more proposal of small cheese or cold meat boards, defective bulbs in the 2 occupied rooms and a drop in choice at breakfast, absence of orange juice on the 2 days (yet offered by the machine), more individual butter etc...
Absence of staff who care if everything goes well in the breakfast room.
Fortunately the rooms are still as comfortable and the view does not change!
We were surprised at this drop in services for the 3 stars we knew. Considering the potential of the property it would be a shame to see it leave in stride for small savings and lack of staff while increasing rates.

We stayed in a Junior Suite with direct view from our bed to Mont Blanc (room no. 4)
The room was very spacious and super clean! If you arrive by car, they have a secure car park, which is payable, but as the hotel is placed within 5 - 10 minutes walking time from the centre, you can just leave your car for the time you are there and walk everywhere.

The price of the room was a bit steep, but that was because Chamonix was holding the UTMB that weekend, so rooms in Chamonix were in high demand. We could have booked a cheaper room, but wanted that view and the space!

Breakfast comes at an extra cost, but is very good and plentiful.

A special mention to Mathilde at Reception! What a lovely, helpful and friendly person! They were a little late getting our room ready and she was just at hand making us welcome and comfortable with drinks on the house. She was also always at hand with good tips and guidance about things to do in Chamonix. Her male colleague at reception when we checked out was just as helpful! Staff like
this is what makes a hotel! We would definitely return!!

Tip for things to do on a nice clear summer’s day: take the telepherique to Aiguille du Midi. It’s not for the faint hearted, as it’s 3,840 metres high, but the views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains is just breathtaking!!!

Dear NewEur0pean, Thank you very much for your nice comment! We are glad that you had a good stay with us at Auberge du Manoir! Indeed, we have a revenue management policy (like many hotels) when the time is very busy in Chamonix. Thank you for your nice comments about the staff, we are making a point to welcome our guests as members of family. We hope to see you soon again at Auberge du Manoir! In the meantime, please take care. Kind regards, Lauren, Hospitality manager

Small hotel with a very familiar atmosphere, it is very close to the center of Chamonix, but at the same time it is secluded in a very quiet area, without noise or locals around.
The staff is very friendly and attentive, they make you feel at home, they are all attentive and helpful for anything.
The room was a triple loft on the top floor, spacious and food, all very good and with views of MontBlanc and Aguille du Midi. The only drawback would be that the closet was a bit tight for 3 people.
The breakfast, for my taste, ideal. Small and cozy room, little variety, but just enough and, most importantly, everything very fresh, quality and local. Cold cuts, cheese, fruits, yogurt, all excellent. Even the coffee is very good.
There is a bar for the afternoon, but I don't know how it serves lunch or dinner.
Good parking for the car.
We had a fantastic and quiet stay in a few days when Chamonix is packed to the brim.

The Auberge du Manoir has an extraordinary character that new managers must keep. The rooms are clean, the bedding is quality as well as the shower/bathroom. The self-service breakfast is simple but hearty. However, given the prices charged in the higher average, guests would be entitled to have in their room a mini-bar (or mini-fridge), shower/shampoo samples in the bathroom, a small fruit basket, etc. As for the housekeeping - although I have a lot of understanding for those people who do a job that is not always easy - their attitude absolutely needs to change: “I’m tired, I have to hurry home, so leave the room” even though the room was available from 10am to 2:30pm... In short, an attitude that completely serves the establishment.
Finally, the price of parking is exorbitant: 20.--/nuit!!!!!

Great central location and the hotel itself is very rustic and cute. However, certain things were lacking compared to other 3 star hotels I've visited in Chamonix.

Easy check in and we were able to store our luggage until our room was ready. Staff at check in and on reception very friendly and welcoming.

Room itself very spacious (we had 2 x junior suite) with balcony and great views of Mont Blanc.
Bed and bedding very comfortable. However room/bathroom was not well maintained/attended/serviced. We requested daily service by turning the door sign to green and asking at reception before we left for the day. The first day neither room was serviced. Toilet roll ran out on day 2 and we had to ask for more which was then not put into the toilet roll holder until our last day (we stayed 6 nights). Shower gel ran out and we had to ask for that to be replenished. Bulbs were out in the bathroom vanity mirror. Shower curtain yellow at bottom and smelly. Bedroom and bathroom floors were dusty and not swept or vacuum at all during our stay. Smoke alarm (or whatever style of alarm was supposed to be in the room) was missing. The only thing we noticed the room attendant do during each visit was make the bed and empty the bins. No vacuuming or sweeping, rinsing of shower, replenishing of loo roll etc.

Perhaps it was due to it being end of the summer season and just running a skeleton staff but only one member of staff was on duty at any one time. Breakfast was chaotic with things running out, juice and coffee machine regularly running low and the only staff member (who was VERY helpful) was rushed off their feet trying to replenish. Breakfast was also disappointing in terms of items offered compared to other 3 star hotels in Chamonix I've used and did not include any hot option except boiled eggs (no scrambled egg, no porridge etc). Just bread, jams, cheeses, cold meats etc.

For the money (close to €250 per room per night), I expected better servicing of the room and a better breakfast selection.

All in all an ok stay but I won't be rushing back.

Nice little family hotel and we appreciate taking only a 3 night booking over such a busy period. Our rooms were large but found the beds fairly uncomfortable and the bathrooms tiny and not to a great standard (toilet rolls in a dispenser, hairdryer attached to the wall, awkward shower screens....) made the place feel more like 3 star. Having to pay to play pool in the lounge area made it feel more like a backpackers!
Great location for an easy walk to town and the bus stop for skiing
Staff were lovely and very helpful
Skip breakfast although the coffee was ok

Dear Mr Wise, We thank you for taking the time to write a comment about Auberge du Manoir! As a 3 star hotel, we indeed do not have all the facilities of a 4star or a 5star hotel. However we are glad that you had a good stay with us! We hope that your stay in Verbier was good too. Hope to see you again very soon at Auberge du Manoir! Kind regards Lauren, Hospitality Manager

We loved this boutique hotel, which oozes charm, & has a rustic Alpine Lodge vibe.
Located a short stroll into the picturesque town of Chamonix, set in gorgeous grounds full of beautiful 'flora & fauna', & cuddled by the Mountains which are viewed from every angle at this cute small hotel.
Rooms vary, & our room was spacious, with a super balcony looking onto the mountains. A comforting wooden interior, with lovely fabrics & a good comfortable bed.
Staff are welcoming, friendly & very helpful, & helped providing us with good suggestions for the local area. We also received a complementary Bottle of Fizz & Chocolates in our room, upon arrival as a gift for my birthday & our anniversary celebrations.
The hotel offers a spa area, consisting of an outdoor Hot Tub, & Sauna, which sadly we did not have time to use, but it was a nice touch.
The continental breakfast was good, fresh & set us up for the day of exploring.

Pension very noisy a few meters from a national. Unable to open the window.Very disappointing breakfast, 19 euros per person!Does not match the description made by the Inn. After having taken the first day a breakfast not according to what we expected , impossible to get refunded 5 times 2 or 10 breakfasts already paid and not taken during the rest of the stay despite our multiple requests, mail, mail... No contact, no answer. Pension with anonymous and invisible management.

This hotel deserves five stars mainly because of its hard-working manager, Andrew, who bent over backwards for us. He gave us good recommendations for restaurants and activities. We also enjoyed the chatty young British woman who ran the breakfast room.
The hotel did all of our laundry for free, which is unheard of! We were at the end of a 2 month skiing tour of Europe, so we took full advantage; I can't tell you how much we appreciated that from them!
The hotel is nicely located near the Old Town, and so there were tons of good restaurants and shopping in walking distance.
Chamonix is not a Ski Station, so you must take a bus or drive to the ski lifts. But there were several lifts close to the hotel so it was not a problem. Our favorite by far: Legere.
The hotel is within walking distance of the train station if you wish to go to "La Mer de Glace". It is a short 5 minute drive to the lift if you wish to go to L'Aiguille du Midi", which I highly recommend - but for scenic only, not to ski!!
Our room itself was a little tight, and there was perhaps a cleaning product used that had a strong smell and gave me allergy problems. Still, it was quite comfortable.
We enjoyed using the hot tub and sauna on the premises for a small fee. We were also allowed to use the spa area at a related hotel in Les Houches for free, and it was really fantastic.
Breakfasts were excellent, with lots of delectable sweets and fresh squeezed orange juice, and we really wish that the hotel served dinner.
As we were leaving, we discovered that the room had motorized blinds that came down. We hadn't really needed them because the curtains made the room dark enough.
All around an excellent stay, and we loved Chamonix!

Lovely boutique hotel in amazing location. Very convenient for skiing. Staff was lovely, breakfast was standard international breakfast. Only complaint is you needed to reserve and pay for hot tub and it would have been nice to be able to hang out in the game room past 8 pm when hotel closes

Hello! We will be happy to welcome you during your next stay in Chamonix. The hotel is situated only a few minutes away from the Domaine du Brévent, where you can take in the breathtaking setting of the French Alps. The Domaine du Brévent is the closest ski resort to the hotel. From here, you can also reach the Domaine de la Flégère via cable car. For families, we recommend Les Houches ski resort, a bright and sunny, tree-lined resort which is always open, even in bad weather. There are slopes to suit all abilities. Advances skiers will enjoy the slopes of the Domaine des GrandsMontets. The bus to get there stops only 3 minutes away from the hotel. The hotel is only 5 minutes away from the start of the cross-country skiing trails. There is also a walking path alongside these trails, just a few minutes away from the town centre, so that hikers can appreciate the mountains too! Ski passes from 2 to 9 days are available to purchase from the hotel reception. If you wish to improve your skiing with the help of a professional instructor, you can contact: - Pierre Bernier, HighaltitudeMountain Guide and Ski Instructor - Natalie Pfab, Ski Instructor - For snowboarding lessons, please contact : Chamonix Snowboarding School Kailash Adventure offers a whole range of winter activities in Chamonix, including skiing lessons, high altitude courses, snowshoeing hikes, ski touring, ice climbing and paragliding.
