Stayed here for one night. This is a former Abbey with bags of character, a big pool and views across the valley to die for. The room was very gloomy and the bathroom access through a small door in the wall. Assume it had been a monk's cell at some point, however, he wouldn't have been asked to pay 300...

Dear Host, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding the Abbaye de Sainte Croix. The staff and myself are pleased to read that you appreciated your stay in our hotel, its character and its accommodation. However, I am disappointed to read your remark about your room. It’s true that the room is in old monk cell...

The hotel is a Relais et Chateaux in a old abbaye. The place is stunning, on the top of a hill with a beautiful view of the area. The rooms are OK for a R&C, would need refurbishing, but is clean and very quite. The pool is nice. Breakfast is very good and copious. The restaurants are OK although expensive...

One other wonderful experience. We stayed one night at the Abbaye with a small group of friends, 16 all together. We had a very warm welcome, our luggage were distributed in each respective room while we were having an aperitif, the rooms were well appointed, large bed , soft linen, robe, sleepers, lovely shampoo, soap and lotion in the luxurious...

The place is absolutely unique and it's difficult not to fall in love with it! It appears to have been a medieval abbey, built approximately in 12th century. Time hadn't spared the place and by the end of the second World War it was lying in ruins. A family of enthusiasts purchased the grounds and took pains to carry out...

My wife and I stayed here for three nights Sept. 21-24. We had made a reservation for a superior room but were quite pleased to be upgraded to a suite with two terraces. The furnishings were very simple, although much more luxurious than they were in the 12th century when the place was built. The setting is beautiful, hugging a...

We stayed at this hotel with our family based on the hotel's website, Relais & Chateaux brand and other ratings. However, we were sorely disappointed with our stay. The views and atmosphere are undoubtedly great, but the whole place needs a serious upgrade if it is to charge the rates it does for a one night stay. Our room looked...

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding the Abbey. I am certainly disappointed that your stay was not all that it could have been. We stayed at Abbaye de Sainte Croix 9/2012 and LOVED the place. The hotel property is just beautiful in a relaxed upscale country kind of way. Perfect hilltop setting with stunning views of Provence. A converted monastery, the main areas and rooms are attractively furnished in neutrals with lots of antiques spread thru the place. They have 2 choices for...

Stayed 3 nights in August and certainly a beautiful location and peaceful, apart from screaming kids in the pool but then it was August. I did find service sadly lacking here. We enjoyed the drive across country and arrived just in time to enjoy the beautiful views, a swim, and a lovely sunset. Our room was spacious, and perfectly clean. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the rocky outcrops of Salon-de-Provence, a tiny Provence town, which is ideally located to explore everything this delightful area has to offer, there is a tranquil spot where time would appear to have stood still. This 12th century abbey in the hearth of twenty hectares of Provencal gardens and garrigue offers spectacular views of the Alpilles Valley and the countryside surrounding Salon-de-Provence. The rooms still bear traces of the Cistercian monks who once occupied the abbey and boast a decor that blends charm and authenticity and provides a calm and restful atmosphere. You will be delighted with the hotel's attentive service and the culinary delights served in both restaurants which offer delicious dishes based on seasonal local ingredients. ... more   less
