Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not a 4 star hotel. No parking on-site despite the website saying parking is available. It had to be booked ahead (which was not explained on the website). We booked a junior suite and the room was old and tired and not 4star quality. The air conditioning did not work, they only supply Nespresso for the first night. After that you must pay 1€ per pod and also have to pay for the water after the first night (we paid over 500$ per night). That is unacceptable. The breakfast was of poor quality - the food was always gone and we had to ask to have it replenished. There was no cutlery no glasses etc. we had to ask to have them put out. The tables were left uncleared. Would definitely not recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed the comfortable stay in a clean environment. The fresh cold water on arrival was highly appreciated and staff is lovely. If you finally know where your hotel is located, than it takes you only 5-10 minutes to la Croisette

It was very clean safe and the reception were very helpful and they were able to help me through any questions I had . Very smooth check in just had to deposit 100 euros for the mini bar. It wasn’t the best mini bar but it was ok . I wish they’d consider having a coffee machine in every room .

We booked a room at the Hotel Verlaine through booking.com for a decent price and even received an upgrade upon our arrival. The hotel is really lovely already from the outside and even offers the possibility to park directly at the property. Also on the street in front of the hotel we would have found a parking space without any problems. The hotel is modern, but at the same time beautifully and stylishly furnished. Of course, the central location is particularly fantastic. In less than five minutes we were at the beach and also the main shopping street is reachable in just a few minutes. On our next stay, we will definitely stay at the Hotel Verlaine again (if the room rates are similar).

We had a minor issue with our first room, but the staff happily and quickly gave us another room with no issues at all. Really amazing location just a few minutes from the beachs, great restaurants and shopping. I highly recommend Hotel Verlaine.

We stayed in Hotel Verlaine for 10 nights as a family of three. The hotel is nicely located in a quiet neighborhood, close to the promenade, main shopping street and the train station, which is a very convenient way to explore Côre d’Azur. There is a large grocery store just outside the hotel, that is open 24/7. The hotel is very pretty, clean and has good design. There is a small beautiful garden, where you can sit and enjoy a coffee. Hotel has a very friendly staff. We stayed in a large family room and we had a very comfortable stay. There were many shelves and storage areas in the room to accommodate all our luggage, clothes and other personal stuff. One of the features of the hotel that it offers premium bathing accessories and liquids. I will miss the honey soap. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.

We were upgraded to a superior room. Very clean, neat staff and lovely breakfast. Just by the city centre, 5 min walk. Receptionist was very kind. The promenade is also 5 min walk away. There is a parking by the hotel, but you have to call them to check if it's possible.

It was amazing, everyone was very very nice, super helpful and the room was perfect! Just the breakfast was a little poor because when we arrived we just had two pain au chocolate, one slice of bread, one glass for the juice, and scrambled eggs, nothing more , but I believe that maybe someone was missing because you could tell that they were a little confused But even that , thank you all for everything 🙏🏻 I hope we can see you soon again ☺️

What a wonderful stay at Hotel Verlaine. It was a hidden gem amongst the the busy Cannes stay. Carlos at the front desk made everything easy and made it feel like home. They even gave me a shoe shine kit to use. Would stay again!

WOULD GIVE ZERO IF I COULD! Hotel is in a prime location but that is it! I left an item of clothing on the back of the chair in the room and when I returned to the room later that day the blazer had disappeared. I searched the whole room and my baggage but couldn’t find it. The room is limited to where you can look as there are no wardrobes. I alerted the night staff and the guy on reception said he would check with housekeeping. I left it a few hours and checked with him to which he said he did everything he could and they couldn’t find the blazer and to check with the staff in the morning. His exact words ‘it’s 9:30pm now and I can’t have everyone running around looking for a blazer’ well I alerted him of this hours before. I waited to the next morning and spoke to the receptionist the following morning who merely repeated the same information as the guy the night before. Given I was about to check out there didn’t seem to be any urgency to find my possession that was taken from my room. I was then told the manager would arrive at 10 and to speak to her when she arrives. 10am I go downstairs again to find the manager is off until Monday (convenient) it’s the lady that checked me in on the first day. I begin to tell her what happened which she responds they’ve done all they can and have searched everywhere for the blazer but can’t find it. After 30 minutes of her talking over me, telling me I lost my blazer, in a round about way accusing me of lying, telling me it was a police matter when I asked her to check the CCTV footage, I offered to have someone come to the room and search the room and baggage to prove it wasn’t there, she continually told me she could do nothing and to call the police. What would the police do? Nothing! It’s a hotel matter. I asked for compensation and she told me they would not compensate me for my lost blazer. I corrected her and told her my blazer was not lost, as she was implying I had misplaced it myself. I told her my blazer was taken either on purpose or in error. She then proceeded to tell me that my blazer would not have been taken in error by housekeeping if left on the back of the chair so therefore it’s been stolen. She also tried to offer me ‘advice’ as a ‘human’ as after 6pm when she clocks off she doesn’t care what happens in the hotel (her exact words!) Shortly after, housekeeping went to look again in their laundry room and returned with my blazer. Suddenly the blazer they couldn’t find was found. 30-45 minutes later and over 12 hours later since I originally reported it and was told they’ve looked ‘everywhere’ and couldn’t find it. When housekeeping returned my blazer the two receptionists smiled and said ‘we’re glad you found it’ To which I responded, ‘you’re glad I found it? It was taken from my room and you made me out to be a liar!’ No apology from them for the inconvenience they caused me, for the way they treated me/talked to me, for the mere fact it was taken from my room in the first place! At that point alone I’d have expected compensation of some kind, money off my booking, let alone a simple apology! Despite the hotel being in a great location, when you don’t feel safe for yourself or personal belongings then there is no point staying in a hotel where staff talk and treat you like a lying criminal. I was utterly stunned by the way they handled this situation, I appreciate people attempt to make false accusations however I offered them to check CCTV to see the blazer I wore earlier and then offered for them to come up to the room at which they declined and told me only the police can check the CCTV. Had this not happened, I would’ve stayed here again, but never again. When a hotel employees staff that think it’s acceptable to talk over guests, imply they’re lying, take no urgency to deal with important matters, and then when proved to be wrong, don’t apologise or compensate, will never get money from me again!
