This was my second time to stay at Hotel Boquier in beautiful Avignon. It is a charming boutique hotel in an old building located about a five-minute walk from the train station in one direction and also an easy to walk to all of the main sites. I chose to stay there a second time because Frederic and the staff are so kind, attentive, and meticulous. They are very helpful and take wonderful care of you. The rooms are kept clean and well maintained, and the breakfast room is well-stocked and provides a pleasant, cozy place to eat in the morning. I also love their house cats in the lobby and the pleasant conversations each day. I highly recommend the Hotel Boquier.

We booked for a double room on the 2nd floor. It was clean, recently updated, good wifi and better than I expected. We stayed for 3 nights . The owners were very friendly and accomodating. There was breakfast with a minimal fee and tourist books in the lobby. It is close to the center but not noisy. I would highly recommend this place. I found this hotel while I was reading one of Rick Steve’s guidebook.

Located on a quiet backstreet half a block from Rue de Republique, the main avenue towards Palais des Papes. The staff, Frederich and Pierre, were very helpful. Wifi and breakfast were alright. Pretty tight stairs and corridors, but it's 2-stars, after all.

The room had very intensive smell of chlorine which was imposible to get sleep even with open window. No elevator, but very nice location and close to the old city center. Also you can hear the noise of the 2nd floor if you are at the first!

Sorry but we don't work with chlorine in our room. I don't suggest you to come during festival of theatre because of the prices. You have better prices during other months.

Amazing value in this recently renovated hotel. Frederic was a fantastic host. The location is great, too. My only minor complaint was that the "full bed" was actually two twin beds pushed together. However, given the price and all the other pros, I would highly recommend this place.

This hotel is in a great location. The host is also very kind and friendly. Facility wise, however, it’s an extremely basic hotel with old facilities and little amenities.

Make sure to read the fine print when booking - No elevator. No parking.

My husband and I just returned from a 15-day trip in France. We booked all of our accomodations directly with each hotel as we were on the road (the only reservations we made prior to our trip were in Paris and the rest were on-the-fly). Anyway, we chose hotels based on Rick Steve's France guidebook. All hotels except this were exemplary. We had a great welcome by the hostess (I believe she and her husband own the hotel) and were promptly shown to our very large Moroccan-inspired room. We went with very open minds regarding accomodations (i.e. size of room, size of bathroom, etc) but this bathroom was actually shower and bathroom in one. The shower curtain just pulled around the shower head and the floor of the bathroom was the same as the floor of the shower. Curtain did nothing, and everything in the bathroom was wet by the time you were done. That's not the huge issue, though. The issue is that we were awakened at 3:15am by dozens and dozens of mosquitos in our room!!! The already-existing bug guts on the walls and already-present bottle of bug spray should've been enough to tip us off that they might have a bug problem, but we didn't notice these things until 3:15am rather than when we checked in. So after 20 minutes of swatting at mosquitos and dodging their repeated attempts to divebomb our heads, we hunkered down in the bed under the sheet where we remained for the rest of the night. The next morning the hostess asked how our evening was and we told her (rather diplomatically) about the problems. She reacted with mock horror and then pointed out that there was bug spray in the room to use. ??? And then we paid full price for our night of no sleep in a bug-infested room. I will say their breakfast was pretty good (7 euros each), location was good, but I would never recommend this hotel to anyone

We bought the hotel in june 2007, the first thinks we made was to put an electric plug against mosquito in each rooms, and explain to all guests there are some mosquitos in Avignon ( not only in Hotel Boquier and in morocco room ) because of the rivers ( Rhone and Durance ). We are one of the only ones otherwise the only one hotel to put the the electric plug repeling mosquitos in each room. For the bathroom, please, keep in your mind we are in Europe and buildings in city center are not recents. Here, we work hard to provide a good comfort and excellent service. For the moment we don't find the way to make a bigger bathroom in this room but we are thinking about.

It is difficult for me to write a review that is negative, but I believe that other travelers need to know more about this accomodation. First, everything that is said about the owners is true. They are lovely hosts, with excellent English, and work to accomodate all of your traveling needs. We ate in wonderful restaurants for five nights.....all at their recommendation. My complaint stems largely from the actual rooms, which are furnished with an eclectic mix of items that must have been gathered from a recycling store. The worst part of this is the towels, which are not changed....and smell terrible. If the owners would only purchase white towels and wash them in hot water with clorox and change them at least every other day, it would have made all the difference in our experience. I felt like I was staying in a youth hostel. I know Rick Steves tries to find value oriented hotels, with nice people, but sometimes I think he misses the mark when it comes to the things females value.

First, i want to remember that we are a 2 stars european standard familyrun hotel. We redecorate the rooms to our taste, it can not please everybody, but you have a photo of each room on our website. We try to reduce our ecological impact, also we ask our guests to stop aircond and switch off the lights when they leave the room and change the towels every 3 days. But if guests prefer that the towels are washed everyday, they have just to leave them on the groundfloor in the bathroom. Generaly, when people have problem, they tell us and we try to fix quickly. As indicate in you review, we speak english and try to accomodate all needs, not only traveling needs, Rick Steves comes every year in our hotel and verify that our service is the service that is wanted in 2 stars european standard hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Boquier for 5 nights in September, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is close to the train station, and all areas of the old city are easily walkable. We had a good-sized double room with a large bathroom and comfortable bed. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as we preferred to go out. The hosts were friendly and helpful. As well as exploring all the areas of Avignon, we did a wine tour with Avignon wine tours, which was really enjoyable, and took the bus to St. Remy for their Wednesday market day. The market there was fantastic, with lots of delicious samples on offer. We also really enjoyed visiting the Van Gogh sights in St. Remy. The Hotel Boquier was a great base for exploring Avignon and the surrounding areas.

Romantic, charismatic and characterful.

You just have to stay in this gorgeous boutique hotel. The themed rooms are all finished beautifully, it's so close to the centre, and the staff/owners (and their dog) are great- always willing to give good recommendations for eating etc.

Really you won't be disappointed by booking this place.
