This is what the French call a maison d'hôtes. Warm welcome with offer of refreshments which included homemade cake and other goodies. As we were only there for 1 evening Tanguy the host gave as a brief rundown on the must-do's, along with a map, which helped us make the most of our few hours. Accommodation had masses of character, from the raw stone walls to the tasteful furnishings...

We spent 3 nights in this B&B. While the building itself dates back to the 16th century, once inside, Tanguy's impeccable taste shines throughout. Our first floor suite (that means second floor up a pretty narrow staircase), consists of a sitting room, bedroom with king sized bed, a shower room and a separate toilet room. There was plenty of closet...

We stayed only a night in La Banasterie, but have really enjoyed it. The little narrow roads in Avignon can be quite claustrophobic, some of them looking a little neglected and grubby or deserted. When you walk into the B&B you feel like you have been transported .. Its cosy, warm and so stylishly designed you feel immediately relaxed and...

We stayed 2 nights at La Banasterie and had an amazing time! The place is absolutely beautiful - old and charming but completely renovated with every amenity you could need. Tanguy gave us restaurant recommendations that were fantastic, and his home made breakfast was incredible. The location is perfect for walking to all the sights in Avignon. I would absolutely...

The warmth of this home away from home is felt the moment you walk in the front door. The attention to detail is remarkable. We have stayed in many hotels in France, and this one has been the best...by far. La Banasterie is situated so well, on the cobbled streets behind the Palais, with many quaint boulangerie and restaurants on...

Nice touch also the home made pastries in the rooms and in the lounge. Walking distance to all main attractions, really very nice place to stay...

This house has been beautifully restored and has many interesting features and a great vibe. Fantastic location within the old city walls, without losing that neighbourhood feel. Our host was very informative and booked us a restaurant for dinner when we arrived. Wish we could have stayed longer.

My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights in September 2016. We loved it, as did the other guests we spoke to during our stay. The house retains a basic 16th century layout (obviously with some modifications) and it's clear that some reviewers find that difficult but we found the narrow staircases, quite dark rooms and the thought and...
