Hotel and room were clean and the staff was friendly. They also spoke English well, which was helpful as it’s been a long time since I last spoke French. Price was good. Only problem was the soap dispenser in the shower didn’t work, so we had to put some liquid soap into a plastic cup to use. All the soap was liquid and is in tamper resistant dispensers. Bed was comfortable and clean, television had a decent selection of English channels.
Avignon is a beautiful French town and well worth a visit.

This hotel was used by our tour company as a base for 3 days. The location is great, within an easy walking distance from the city center. We found it very very clean, our room and bathroom were small but sufficient for just sleeping over and showering every day. The bed was comfortable, the only problem we found was with the upper bed included in the design - my husband banged his head on it while reaching for some thing on the bedside table. We did not use the upper bed it’s used for a child or a third person. There was a very small desk with a seat and a tiny closet in the room. The number of electrical plugs available was sufficient to charge all our watches, cell phones, and battery banks. There were three towels for the two of us, very clean and large enough, liquid soap dispenser in the shower, and a hairdryer. The breakfast was continental I guess. Different kinds of breads and croissants, cheese, butter, jam, plain yogurt, cereal, some canned fruit and juices. Coffee machine supplied decent cappuccino but there were other choices. I would’ve welcomed eggs for breakfast. The staff was polite, spoke English, EU vaccination passport was requested upon signing, face masks were required to be worn everywhere inside except for when eating.

You can not expect a lot for 110 eur for a room but the room was not as clean as advertised in the pictures of the site.
Bed was ok but stairways, windows, douche , and floor was not cleaned like it should.
The service of the staff was perfect , very friendly , very helpful but you can feel that the hotel is managed to limit costs and this has its effects on the overall feeling of the stay … cheap .

I’m not a snob but I’d like to think there’s a minimum level of cleanliness every hotel should provide regardless of the price. Well this Ibis Budget defied all expectations…in the worst way possible.

Never have I felt so dirty staying at a hotel. The walls and floors were covered in a bizarre sticky residue. The bathroom was covered in water stains and the toilet paper was oddly crispy. Not to mention the mice scurrying around the courtyard during breakfast. As for the positives, at least the staff were nice.

Good location on the same road as the railway station about 5 minutes walk away and about 10 minutes to the city centre. The room was basic but a good size, clean and comfortable. Breakfast again was a bit basic but enough to start the day. The staff that I met were helpful and friendly.
The only minus point is that there is currently building work going on nearby so don’t expect a long lie.
Great value for what you pay for. I would stay here again if I’m ever in Avignon

Good location in easy walking distance of city centre and main attractions. But this place is in need if refurbishment. I know this is an Ibis Budget, but the room cleanliness left a lot to be desired and I don't think this is the fault of the staff. The bathroom in particular was in a poor state of repair and cleanliness. See photos.

Second visit to this hotel. Absolutely fine inside the hotel but there is still building going on next to the hotel and the work starts around 7:30, so as long as you don’t want a long lie it is absolutely ideal. Staff are friendly and helpful and the location is good.

I don't know what our Canadian cousins in the prevoius review expected but we found the hotel comfortable, clean, and the staff very pleasant. Its very near to the centre of Avignon, with everything within walking distance. It clearly states that the reception is closed in the afternoon between 2 and 5 p.m. but check in is easy with a credit card. The breakfast is typically continental with various breads which you can toast and have various jams and marmarlade with, and fresh coffee. A nice restaurant is open in the evenings with reasonably priced food and drinks. We would definitely stay again. We saw the tramp meantioned in the previous review, but never saw the prostitutes, no matter how hard we tried.

My husband and I have stayed at an Etap hotel before and thought this one would be an inexpensive option for Avignon. After our 3 day visit was over, we vowed we would not return to that hotel again.
For starters, there is no one working at the front desk during the day. We had to check ourselves into the hotel, and it was not an easy process. For those who are not great with computes or who are not very familiar with the French language, beware.
Once we did get into our room we noticed that it was not very clean, there was hair and dust on the floor in the bathroom and I don't think the carpets had been vacuumed in some time. There was also exposed wires in the ceiling and unfinished tile flooring the the bathroom.
During the evening, we noticed that being outside the walled city was not really a great idea. There were countless drunk, homeless men begging for money in the area surrounding our hotel and there was also a prostitute who milled across the street one evening.
Of course we were staying there in high season and the rest of the hotels in the city in our price range were already booked. If we were to do it all over again, we would certainly stay inside the walls of the city and never again at the Etap Hotel.

I had a real bad experience in this hotel: someone entered into my room (which was duly closed) and stole some things I had in it. Moreover, what made this experience even worse is that when I went down to the lobby to complain and ask for any type of help the staff not only did not do anything to help me but also made me clear that they did not care about the theft (they should at least be worried if there had been a theft in their hotel, but they just told me that "these things happen"...). A real bad experience specially for the behaviour of the staff of the hotel.
