Perfect hotel for our needs. Very centrally located. Great breakfast. Would recommend. The hotel is across two buildings and some of the layout quite quirky but that just adds to the charm. Very pleasant reception staff and we felt good value.

The location is very convenient: a few steps from the main attraction (palais des Papes), many restaurants and shopping streets nearby
A parking is also nearby. It is costs 12-15 euros over night, after a rebate obtained from the hotel.
The hotel is close to the city walls allowing a quick exit to take off to nearby destinations.
The place is nicely kept. Feels 'fresh enough' despite the age of the building. Bedding, heating, water pressure, coffee machine, water-heater, bathroom amenities ... all were good, providing for expected comfort.
We were a bit disappointed by our room's decoration. The furniture feels outdated and too simplistic for the price range.
But globally a good stay. The staff were very amiable.

We were pleasantly surprised at how nice this boutique hotel was during a quick two-night stay after a long week of traveling throughout Provence. It has a great location and although our room was small, we were very happy to have the extra space provided by the terrace--well worth the added expense. The room also included nice toiletries and slippers, and the staff was very helpful. The included breakfast provided plenty of offerings, including delicious croissants. We enjoyed our room's top floor corner location which had what must be the best view in the hotel. The terrace faces west overlooking the city steeples so we could hear all the church bells (silent while we slept though) and watch the sunset each evening while we sipped a bottle of wine.

We spent one night at this property during a stop over in Avignon. We choose it for its locations and for an interesting offer while booking online directly on their website (cheaper than Booking.com). However we were disappointed. The location is great, in the main square of Avignon, less than five minutes form the Palace du Papes and its parking. Check in was fast, as I had done the advanced check in online (good feature), so far so good. The room has been the real disappointment (room 301). Small, dark and smelly! An awful odor of smoke, probably there since the years when it was allowed to smoke in the room. Old forniture, the bathroom also old, with a bath tub and a shower with a shower head partly blocked by limestone. Old looking small white tiles and floor covered with a kind of very sad gray linoleum. Depressing! However, on the positive side, the bed was large and very comfy, we slept well, in spite of the persisting smell. The breakfast was good, with a good choice of sweet and salty food. Fresh orange juice, good tea or coffee. That why we are giving a three star rating at the hotel, for the bed (after all the most important thing in an hotel is the sleeping quality) and the breakfast. The service was fast but totally impersonal. So if you plan to stay in the Hotel de L'Horloge make sure you check your room, before accepting it, We should have refused it and asked for a better one.

Dear guest, We thank you for your feedback and for having chosen the Hotel de l'Horloge for your stay. Thank you as well for mentioning the fact that the best prices are on our own website, the good location, the check in service, and satisfying breakfast ! As well as the quality of the bedding. For the Tradition room you have booked, the dimension is well indicated on the description. If you have had asked for a larger room we could probably helped. We always try to make the stay of our guest the best as possible. The same for the smoke smell, we could have try to find a solution. For information, our ranking as a four stars hotel has been re-confirmed by a certified organism the summer… We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again during a future stay in Avignon, Sincerely, Myriam Fernandes - Costumer Relations

We had a wonderful short break in this delightful and excellently located hotel. We would highly recommend this as a location for exploring the historic city of Avignon. The staff were all welcoming and helpful and the hotel was well maintained and clean. The breakfast for a hotel of its size was full of choice and appetising, it was regularly refreshed throughout whenever we were in the breakfast area. There was even the ability to make your own freshly squeezed orange juice which went down particularly well with myself and my wife.

I stayed 3 nights at Hotel de l'Horloge in mid September 2021. The hotel is perfect located if you want to be close to all the major attractions. Just a straight 10 minute walk down rue de la Republique from the Avignon train station (not the main one you take from Paris, you need to take another train from there to Avignon Centre, it's 1.60 euros and takes 4 minutes. There was a manifestation the Saturday I arrived and many streets were blocked, so this was the quickest way into town). The hotel is around the corner from the main square Place de L'Horloge which is full of restaurants with terraces for a drink or a (maybe touristy) meal. The Pope's Palace is less than 5 minutes away and you are walking distance from anything you want to see. The staff was very warm and welcoming and offered to lend me an umbrella on my last day when it was raining so I could continue to explore. The room was very clean, and had everything I need as a solo traveler. Like many European hotel rooms, it was a tad on the small side but since I was only there to sleep after wandering all over Avignon all day, it was fine. I would happily stay there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quaint, welcoming place to lay your head after long days exploring this historic city.

The hotel is located in the heart of the town, right next door to the historic building of the old town. It is worth splashing out a bit more on a more expensive room, nr 505 on the fifth floor has amazing views of the Papal palace from the rooftop and even an outside shower on the terrace for warm days. The hotel is very proud of their breakfast and rightfully so, especially giving its very pretty, verandah-like location. The breads and pastries as well as their butters were absolutely outstanding. The staff were reserved and non-intrusive in a very French way but always ready with help and answers when needed. Would definitely consider staying here again on a return trip to Avignon.

WOW!! Great helpful staff and Fabulous location in the middle of Place de L’Horlage! We spent 4 nights here! Very clean rooms and comfy beds with AC as it was 34 Celsius! Great breakfast with eggs bacon sausage and anything else you wished for! Steps to great restaurants Carre Palais restaurant with a breath taking view of the Popes Palace. Staff has great recommendations stay away from restaurants in the square especially L’Opera and the one beside hotel very rude staff and terrible food.
We got the best room 505 on top floor with a lovely patio and view of the clock tower which was great for resting in the evening with a glass of wine. Ice is on 3rd floor. Separate toilet room is convenient. Everything is walking distance!! There is an amazing Crepery on the street behind hotel 3 Euro for a Chirizo cheese and tomato crepe!! And 5 Euro for Chocolate & Banana. So filling could only eat half 😜 Delicious Gelato on walk to Pont Avignon! The train station is at the end of Rue Republique where we caught the train to Arles for the Saturday market. Ubers are not available most of the time only Taxis We took a taxi to Gordes it was beautiful and worth the cost to stay as long as we wished as we missed our tour due to date mix up and glad we did! Pont Avignon is walking distance and recommended the little train for 10 Euro to take you around the town and hear the history. Monoprix grocery store is a few minutes walk for snacks and drinks. I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone visiting Avignon 🥰 Thank you Baphste & Priscilia for all your help!!

The hotel is in a great location. Staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Rooms are surprising well equipped and well thought out with everything you might need, including a coffee machine, excellent toiletries, slippers and air-conditioning. Windows are double glazed so wonderfully quiet nights! I had a lovely room overlooking the Place which was a peaceful start to the day. I would recommend taking the breakfast, which is served in an airy room with an orangery and an excellent selection of food and drinks. I found my superior room just about ideal for me, but would perhaps upgrade to a larger room if I had been with my husband. The staff did all they could to meet my requests for double bed, bath etc so definitely worth asking. The WiFi is a bit unreliable, so if on a business trip where coverage is important, it might be worth asking the hotel for a room with good connectivity.

An excellent experience in a charming hotel, with a great location, good amenities and excellent cleanliness. I would thoroughly recommend.

Right in the center of Avignon, just a two minute walk from the Palais des Papes and an easy 10 minute walk from the train station, this hotel was a nice find. The rooms are well appointed, including a mini bar (overpriced, of course) and coffee/tea service. The hotel breakfast buffet is about 15 euros but it's quite good. The staff is very helpful and cheerful.
Just be sure that if you have any mobility issues, you notify the hotel upon booking because, although they have an elevator, some rooms are reached by taking 4-5 steps once you get off the elevator.

Dear Guest, we indeed have an elevator. Please note that because of the configuration of the buildings, somme rooms are not directly brought by elevator, some stairs are in between. We suggest you to specify your special needs at the booking time. Hoping having answered to your question, I wish you a good day. Myriam F.
