We had a wonderful, relaxing stay. The food was delicious, breakfast was excellent and the spa and pool were just heaven. Not the easiest place to drive to but well worth it once there, a really special place

We stayed in the Aquabella for a week as part of a group tour of Provence. We had a room on a higher floor and it was excellent with slippers, dressing gown and bottled water supplied. Our room did not have a balcony but it was quiet as it looked out over the lovely gardens.
The restaurant was very popular with local people and we had two meals included there both of which were very good. Breakfast was very good with a fresh orange juice machine and another to make coffee. There was also a good selection of fresh local breads and fruit.
The staff were very friendly both in reception and in the restaurant. The night porter even made us strong black coffee when we had to depart at an unearthly early hour due to a flight change.
The hotel is in a perfect situation for exploring the city and yet away from traffic noise: a short walk takes you to the centre which is bustling with bars and restaurants.

The pool is one of the nicest, surrounded by old historic ruins, but things go downhill from there. The air conditioning in the rooms did not work, in early October, and I am sure that they turned it off to save money, because if you screamed and swore at whomever was behind the counter, after first asking politely every time that you went to your room, then they would turn it on in your room for a short time. This is not luxury. Spa treatment was normal. Street construction appears to have been in progress for years, and it is extremely difficult to find the front entrance in a car. Later, on foot, we figured out the small one way side street and that we could go backwards long enough to reach the hotel, but this is not luxury. Breakfast was not good at all for quality of food, quantity available, and lousy staff, and they started picking up everything 15-20 minutes before the 10AM advertised closing time. Location at the outside edge of the historic district is not ideal, but that just gave us the chance to do a lot of walking, which was good for us.

Dear Guests, We are deeply sorry that our hotel did not correspond to your expectations, however the description given here does not correspond to our level of service. By reading the main comments, this will appear as an evidence. Of course, everything is not perfect but we find your feedback very severe. Concerning the AC, we remind that we are in Aix en Provence and in October, at 99% it is not comfortable to put it on. It may appear evident for you but most of our guests will request the contrary. Nothing to do with saving money, this is not our mindset. Be assured that we take into consideration your comments on the breakfast service, we will pay attention on the schedule even though opening and closing hours are clearly announced. Best regards Gana GUEYE

We stayed for a couple of nights in the Aquabella Hotel, and booked a comfort double room. The hotel is very conveniently located, and has a car park round the corner. Parking can be difficult in Aix so we were particularly attracted by the car park which was included in the price.

However, the stay was really ruined by the room, which is simply too hot. There is heating in the room, but no air conditioning, and unfortunately the rooms can get really hot. In the middle of the night, our room was 26 degrees, which meant that even after removing the covers, neither myself or my partner could get to sleep. There is a lot of noise outside, so opening the windows does not really help. There is also building work going on which starts very early in the morning.

We asked about this at the reception the next morning, but the gentleman on the desk, Didier, could not have been less helpful. He blamed us for leaving the heating on (we hadn't) and said that he could not help, and promptly went back to checking his computer. He also tried to charge us for parking, even after I had explained that our rate included free validation of parking.

I would also note that the bed is actually two smaller beds pushed together. This means that if you roll over in the night, you might find yourself falling between two mattresses!

The hotel itself should be lovely, but would really recommend they sort out their heating and the attitude of their staff.

Dear Guests, Thank you very much for your review. First of all, we apologize for the situations you experienced during your stay. This is far from what guests used to live in our hotel. Concerning the air conditioning our technical staff took the case for entire check up in this room and we can assure that we will follow this very closely. we hope this situation will not prevent you from giving us a second chance and better appreciate our services. GO ANYWHERE ELSE-

Website states “Air Conditioning” A/C does not get turned on until June.

Room looks like a refreshed Holiday Inn

Front Office Staff wear a smile, makes promises and doesn’t keep them.

Housekeeping staff are mean and slam doors constantly.

They have no rights to the Parisian attitude they spew. We left early.

The Aquabella Hotel & Spa was our base for our Timeless Provence group tour.

We had a room on the second floor overlooking the main entrance. Down below us was a table where the smokers would sit. Not a problem unless you had the balcony door open and there were smokers below, so you did get the smell of smoke at times.

We are not sure why the smoking area has to be just at the front entrance to be honest. It seemed to be used by non-residents on some days.

The room itself was functional.

We had a fridge, and the bottled water was replenished daily.

Sleep quality was excellent.

There was a hand shower in the bath. It could be attached to a wall mounted fixture to be used as a shower but to be honest it was not very effective as it was not powerful enough and the water tended to run out onto the floor under the sink area.

Breakfast was ok.

Fresh orange juice was available and there was a great choice of different local breads each day. The scrambled eggs were lovely and fluffy but if they had been standing a while would be lukewarm at best.

We dined in the restaurant on just the 2 evenings (this was included in our tour). We had a more limited menu and in one sense we were disappointed that the menu was very touristy. The service was a bit hit and miss at times and we were forgotten about at one point.

We had a much more enjoyable experience dining outside of the hotel. There are some great restaurants within a stone's throw of the hotel.

We did use the outdoor pool on a couple of occasions. The pool was clean, and it was a nice spot to unwind as it was a lovely sun trap even late in September.

A great plus point for the hotel is its location so close to the heart of the city yet it was so quiet and peaceful with no traffic noise.

A 1 night stay at this 4 * hotel. A nice room refurbished with a fine duble bed and a big bathroom, but it all had some lack of things. There were no information in the room about the hotel services such as breakfast hours, possibilities of having served food or drinks in the room, phone numbers, Spa prices and hours etc. In the bathroom the shower was not effectively covered with glass protection so the water was spread out on the floor and no place to store your shampoo when showering. The check in and out at the reception was made by 2 persons only, of which one of the all the time was on the phone or doing other things but serving the guests. So you had to wait quite some time for this service. They had a P-park nearby but with no direction instructions at the reception. The pool area was nice but fairly crowded and you could only get towels at the reception so you had to walk back to this and stand in line again. The towel service should have been near the pool area. We did not use the restaurant as the menu was quite ordinary
but the breakfast buffet was very fine, but the staff was not well organised as there was a lack of tabbles prepared for you and you had to call the staff to get everything you needed, glass, serviette knives and forks etc. The hotel is though nice situated just a short walking distance from the old town center. As for prices it was much too high for this standard. The management should deal with all of this before you can call a stay 4 *.

Dear Guests, Thank you very much for your stay in our hotel. We have paid great attention to your feedback and we wanted to answer some of the points you raised in. Concerning the room we took out all the documents to avoid contacts and this information is clearly given during the check-in and noticed in document at the reception desk. We will remind our colleagues to be most informative on that point. Also during your stay our staff is there to help for any request. As for towels for the pool, we have made the choice to give them at reception ; we know by experience the difficulties it represents to let them there. For the restaurant it is a pity that you did not use it ; it is all renovated and until the reopening on july 10th, guests who have really been there unanimously congratulate our chef and restaurant team. Be assured that everyday we are on the field and our single preoccupation is to give service. We know that all is not perfect but our services are mainly appreciated by most of our guests. Aa a reminder, we have 85% occupancy at least every year. We take into consideration any comment that may help us improve our quality of service. You are our mirror. Thanks for taking your time. Best Regards Gana GUEYE

After being in chilly Norway, coming to this hotel was a warm and beautiful introduction to Aix. We stayed in a clean, lovely suite on the top floor called Jardin de Provence, with a gorgeous mural on the walls in the bedroom and living room, and a beautiful bathroom tiled all over in blue tiles that made me feel like I was stepping into the Mediterranean Sea. Very comfortable bed, soft, thick towels, flat screen tv in two rooms, fridge and a view from our balcony of the cathedral, Mt. St. Victoire and the wonderful swimming pool, which opened early due to the warm weather. We were in heaven. And it was so quiet. Blackout blinds in all rooms meant a truly good sleep. Bring your bathing suit and enjoy the spa too.

Buffet breakfast was included. A terrific selection of breads and cheeses! Omelets, delicious sauteed potatoes with little mushrooms, and sausage and bacon made up the warm entrees. Only complaint was that the bacon was crisp, and the scrambled eggs were runny. Four different juices offered, as well as Palais de The teas. Dinner here was very good also, available by reservation, although the portions are huge, and one meal could easily suffice for two people.
The front desk staff, all of whom spoke English, were very friendly and helpful, especially Luca and Marion. We can't wait to return! If you want to dine at excellent nearby restaurants like Mitch or De l'une a l'autre, do make a reservation. The front desk can help with this.

During a spell of 100+ degree (Fahrenheit) heat, this hotel was a spot of cool tranquility where I could escape and rest. The room has great AC, which isn't a given outside the United States, and I slept well at night despite some noise from the street. The hotel is located near the Place des Cardeurs, which is full of restaurants and bars – so you're going to get some people wandering past the hotel late at night. The restaurant was great for both breakfast and dinner, and the pool was pristine. I also booked a few spa treatments, and I'm glad they were able to fit me in! The spa was the highlight of my trip. Not only was it incredibly relaxing, but it is a unique spa in that all of their treatments center around water. I believe this is because the hotel is built on the ruins of old Roman thermal baths, which have been preserved and you can see pieces of the baths behind plexiglass in the spa. Very nice spot, and it's so close to the center of town!

Nice, in general, but there are issues that shouldn’t be happening in a hotel like this.
I went to the spa, there were no towels. The floors were dangerously slippery and I almost fell 4 or five times. The locker locks didn’t work. The Jacuzzi was cold. There were no regular showers where you could get hot water that you adjusted. Overall not very pleasant. Additionally the bathroom outlet in my room pulled right out of the wall exposing bare wires. The glass shelf for toiletries was falling off the wall and slanting so that you could not put anything on it without it slipping into the sink, including my full coffee cup. Otherwise the room is great with nice amenities in a very pretty location.
