Been to this camp site many times but not recently, was a bit worried about some of the comments on here, however I needn’t have been, new sanitary facilities since we were last here, (pre covid) it was early in their season so snack bar was still being set up and no pool open, pitches grass not cut, but there again not enough campers to warrant it. Staff lovely and will be back. Cognac is a beautiful city to visit and lots of cycling.

We stayed at the municipal campsite of Cognac. Camping top. Very nice welcome, shaded pitches, very decent size. Sure, better to ask for a pitch along the Charente or at the bottom of the campsite (road a little busy without being too annoying) Sanitary really clean, cleaned 3 crazy per day. Restaurant that is in the campsite is run by a young and adorable team. Good pizzas, a nice menu and fresh produce. Very good price. Do not hesitate if you pass by.

Very shady and spacious location on the banks of the Charente. Thanks to the managers for the welcome and cleanliness of the site. Impeccable toilets. Bread and pastries in the morning c is appreciable. Walking or cycling Check-out from the campsite to the city.

A peaceful campsite, a bit far from anywhere to eat. We did cycle to Cognac quite easily though. Showers and toilets were fairly clean. one block was closed at the time of our visit. Friendly staff, who helped with any queries etc. Probably wouldn’t visit again as once visited Cognac I feel no need to visit again.

This little campsite, tucked away right next to the river, is a really nice place to stay. Just outside Cognac, you can easily walk the 2-3km into the City alongside the river for most of the way. Each camping plot was shady, grassy and had its own electricity supply. There are shrubs and trees between the plots. The facilities were clean and not busy. The site itself was very clean with a small playpark, a swimming pool and a small cafe which is open lunch time and evening. It was not expensive and we were able to hire the caravan electricity adaptor. It was quite a drive to a decent supermarket but they did sell some items in the shop.
Cognac itself was an interesting visit. There are boat trips along the river and you can hire pedalos and canoes. The shops look nice and there are the brandy houses to visit.
All in all, I would recommend both the campsite and the City for a visit.

Excellent site found by chance. Very friendly staff and fluent English. Pitches well kept and pool clean and tidy. Well worth a visit especially to explore Cognac which is only a few minutes cycling along the river

This is an excellent site suffering, as many are, from lack of funding. I understand that improvements to the rather dated sanitary blocks are to be made in the near future.
The site is well wooded with a good range of pitches that are sunny or shaded. Most of the pitches are large with room for caravan or tent, car and room for camp furniture, even a gazebo. Electricity is extra - be sure to have a long extension lead - although most have a nearby power point just a couple are quite a distance away. Some of the power points have French plug sockets, others the European socket.
The sanitary blocks are good and clean with hot water. In one block there are three "normal" toilets and two "turca", in the other block they are all "normal". Toilet paper is not provided. There are eight showers in each block, all with hot water and two with combined sinks. There are separate sinks for washing in cubicles. The blocks are raised up with steps leading up to them so a disabled sanitary block without steps stands beside the main block. Access, I believe, is by a key obtainable from the office.
In the sanitary blocks there are separate sinks for washing up and a laundry room with large sinks and a washing machine for which tokens are available for sale at the office.
There is a small swimming pool and a games area with table tennis tables and a boules ground and a children's play area.
A snack bar serves drinks and snacks although it is only open at certain times of the day and in the snack area there is a television. Bread etc can be ordered at the bar for collection the following morning. There are two supermarkets within a ten minutes' drive away and others only slightly further. A twenty minute idyllic walk along the banks of the river takes you to Cognac with its cognac producers, most of whom do guided tours, fine market and old town. Look elsewhere for more information on this.
The days of animations for children, scuba diving in the pool, visiting magicians and performers and cognac tastings are gone and for those of us who have coming for some years, missed, but this is still a good site and I would gladly recommend it to anyone.

We have been travelling in our motorhome, staying at Aires de camping cars, large sites and municipal sites for the last week, we had planned to stay in Cognac at a camping Aire but it didn't feel right with our two kids, 9 and 7. So my husband googled and found this one, rang ahead and they said they had space for us. It was such a relief to find this site, the reception guy was welcoming and when we drove it our pitch we were thrilled. The kids were happy as there was a pool, park and children to play with. Quite a few English campers. The toilets had seats on, the showers worked and were hot. We had water and electricity. The site was friendly, relaxed and quiet after 9pm. We stayed one night as we are travelling for 2 weeks, but would return to this site again. It's pretty with shaded private pitches alongside the river.

Booked this site because it had a pool and snack bar. We emailed and spoke to the site before booking and at no point were we told the pool and bar would be closed. The site was quiet and the pitches were a good size. The toilet blocks were a dated but clean. Nice shady pitches under trees. Near the river and a nice but long walk into Cognac via the woods and river path.

This site really would benefit from some upgrading of the facilities and some cutting back of trees and hedges particularly along the fence line. Some pitches are in complete shade and therefore good habitats for insects!
It’s within walking distance of the town centre and the old port, and close to the river.
