Detailed Reviews
Arrived after a long day cycling. I was recommended it as being good value for the money and it was. Exceptionally clean with an extremely friendly manager who spoke excellent English. A great breakfast was provided. Only it's location, near the station, stops it from 5 stars.

Really enjoyed our stay here with "MarchFrance" see detailed write up below. Only other comment would be there is no lift so it's good exercise if you are on the 3rd floor. The walk to the town is about 10 minutes. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

Absolutely horrible hotel owner! The hotel owner has listed onsite car parking being available on one of the booking search engines without making any statements about a car parking fee, and then demands a car parking fee when checking in. It was initially a small issue but then turned completely bizarre when I attempted to point this out to her stating that she at least needs to correctly update the facilities available section on the booking engine to reflect this so that customers are not given false or misleading information. The owner then became totally unreasonable and stated she absolutely would not and that it was the customers fault that the car park charge is not listed on the booking engine!!! She subsequently cancelled my booking and refused to let me check in! Extremely bizarre and one of the most weird experiences I have had. I would never trust this owner and certainly never stay here. The owner appears to be attempting to deceive customers in order to get bookings and has no interest in providing any customer service.

I was staying here with family and we occupied 3 rooms. All 3 rooms had views over to the castle. The rooms were clean and spacious, there was a kettle which is rare in French hotels. The breakfast was very varied with cereals, croissants, different breads, with a variety of extras and at 8€ worth it. Loved the fact there was free private parking in an enclosed area (to book when you reserve your room as parking is limited). Merièle & Stephane are such helpful and friendly hosts.
We stayed through the very hot weather early August. Two of our rooms were on the top floor with no air conditioning so we needed to have our windows open therefore we were bothered by some freight trains through the night and this is the only reason why I have not given this establishment 5 stars. There is a ceiling fan and there are double double-glazed windows so at any other time of the year this would not be a problem. Also loved the pre-dinner and digestive walks to and from the town centre on a nightime.

This little hotel is ideal for a local area base or stopover at Saumur. The owners are more than friendly and our room had recently been smartly refurbished and was clean and bright. The City Centre is a ten minute walk and has many excellent restaurants and some lovely old areas. The walk is across two big bridges over Le Loire and is a pleasure in itself. The Alcyion is right on the main railway line and some trains to pass at night. This did not bother us but is worth knowing about.

This was the final hotel on our Loire cycling tour arranged by bicyclette-verte and the best of the tour. The rooms were recently refurbished and clean, the beds were comfortable and the breakfast hearty. All that topped off by very warm and homely hosts. My only problem would be the noise from the nearby train tracks which is not too severe given that the owners installed an extra window to block out the sound. The location is good but not prime - being a ten minute walk from the centre and two minutes walk from the train station. Overall I recommend a stay here.

Stayed last night at this hotel. Located near the train station and approximately 10 mins walk from Ancient Quarter. Immaculately clean, very quiet and very comfortable. Lady at reception extremely helpful. Parking is €5 per day but plenty of free parking on street. Reception closed between 11-3pm so no access during then but tabac next door for coffee if you arrive between those times. Very nice hotel

We stayed just overnight whilst cycling the Loire a velo trail. A great welcome, comfortable room, and a short stroll to the town. A really nice, traditional small hotel and a lovely host. Cannot recommend enough.

The hotel is lovely and clean, just a couple of hundred metres away from the river Loire, and in a good location to walk into the town, that is about 10 minutes walk away. Muriel, the owner makes you feel very welcome right from the point of arrival. The breakfast is well worth the money, there is a good selection of breads, cereals, fresh fruit, jams etc. Although the hotel is next to the station, apart from a couple of freight trains during the evening, we didn't experience any disturbance.
