Lovely boutique hotel. Ideal location with excellent staff. Room very comfortable with excellent products and faultless breakfast. Will be back in 2025!

Very nice local hotel in Saumur. Very friendly staff, recognised that the small room at the top floor under the ceiling was a bit too low for a Dutch guy like me and gave me another, larger room with a proper shower in stead of a bath. Typical French breakfast, simple, but good. Will certainly return.

We spent the weekend in the hotel for a friend's birthday and the experience was really great! We were able to check in early, the staff were really attentive, we found birthday balloons in the room (I had specified in advance for his birthday). The room was magnificent, the view of the castle really nice. We took a pack with SPA and wine tasting/visit and it was incredible. In short, I'm thinking of coming back, or making Christmas gifts for the family in this establishment :) Thank you for everything

September 2024 the hotel and rooms and bathrooms are all renovated, nicely appointed (softest robes of the trip so far—interesting with a sensor so previous guests may have found them so lovely that they took them (?), L’Occitane products in the bathroom) and air conditioned. The hotel is beautiful and the location is perfect, just blocks from the main shopping and restaurant area. There is an elevator. The rooms are each unique and different sizes with different views, some of the river, the chateau, the courtyard. The owner greeted us with the local sparkling wine and told of the building’s history starting as a private home in 1730, to its most recent renovations. He seems very proud of his accomplishment in keeping its beauty (do look at the staircase, railing, and ceiling above which are magnificent). The only reason I give it four stars rather than five is that my room was a small single with a double bed, and another couple also ended up with a double bed, not so happily, so ask about your bed size and possibly select a larger room in advance, but do stay at this beautiful hotel in Saumur.

What a delightful boutique hotel this is! Loved the interior design - a stylish contemporary twist on the original C18th features. Our room was gorgeous - small but beautifully styled and with a lovely high ceiling. Occitane products in the bathroom were a delight. The staff and 'vibe' of the hotel are highly professional but also friendly and cool in the best way. The breakfast, with the highest standard of products, was absolutely delicious. We had a Chateau view but wouldn't have minded a River or Courtyard view as it's all quite special. Paying €15 for Courtyard parking isn't essential (lots of parking on quayside) but worth it - and very pretty! We love a treat hotel stay and Ann d'Anjou may be one of our most favourites - and at a very competitive price in November. We can't wait to return!

Excellent stay at the Anne d’Anjou hotel.
A very friendly team and a wonderful setting.
The hotel is very well located, a stone's throw from the center of Saumur while being perfectly quiet.
We took the gourmet getaway and spa package, including nights (with the chance to have a view of the castle), dinners in restaurants (with an excellent selection made by the hotel), a visit to a local cellar with tasting, access to the spa and duo massage. We had a perfect weekend. I highly recommend.

A beautiful stylish hotel in the heart of Saumur overlooking the castle. Historical interiors (but without mothballs), fantastically tasty and varied breakfast, you can even sit in the fresh air. There is a bar where it is nice to sit in the evening after long walks. We would have happily spent a few more days here.

Something broke at the booking and our reservation was lost - we almost ended up on the street in the evening. Fortunately, a tiny room was found available (apparently for 1 person) and they gave us a good discount on accommodation - the staff tried their best to help in this situation.

Excellently located at the foot of the castle of Saumur. Historic building with small swimming pool overlooking the castle. With 12,50 euros you can use the jacuzzi always with castle view and sauna (40 min total). There are limited parking spaces within the courtyard at a cost of 15 euros per night, so Recommendation to book in advance. Alternatively on the road there are free places. Great continental breakfast with also French products. Costs consistent with a 4 star.

We enjoyed a stay here 22 years ago and were interested to return. We were not disappointed. Fantastic location on the banks of the Loire and right below the Chateau. There is a small paid car park (€12 daily) which is on a first come first served basis.

We had Room 210 on the second floor. Good size and well equipped with large bathroom and bath with shower over and Chateau views. Loved the expensive toiletries. Staff all very efficient especially the young female receptionist who recommended restaurant and made our booking, There is also a small swimming pool and jacuzzi for which a €10 charge pp per use applies when perhaps this should be included in the room rate?

It’s a very old and characterful building so you do hear doors closing etc but we generally slept well. The room was very cold on arrival (it was 5c outside) but soon warmed up after adjusting the radiators. The main gripe is the dreadful bedroom floor coverings which are cold and hard - made of a plastic weave and more suited to a cafe or industrial location!

There is a bar and buffet breakfast is served daily at €15 pp. There is a separately owned and run restaurant connected and adjacent to the hotel which is Michelin rated and superb (see separate review) but do book in advance. Room is well cleaned also daily. An easy level walk into the town centre for bars/shops. Very nearly marked as a 5 were it not for those carpets and the extra charges for amenities.
