Good place for an overnight stop before catching the ferry but limited staffing and hours make it a little soul less. Rooms quite nice but bathrooms a little tired and little things like shower heads needing attention let the place down

We stayed in a family room for one night after arriving by ferry from Portsmouth. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We left our car in their garage so didn't have to worry about finding a space. Great breakfast too.

We stayed for one night. Our room was lovely, clean and big , sea view was an added bonus. Didn't like the shower, very small and tight. Kept losing the free wifi but sat in bathroom and it was perfect LOL. Would I stay again? Yes, overall it was a very comfortable clean room with friendly staff

This is a very friendly small hotel located in central Cherbourg. The staff are extremely friendly and the rooms were spotless. We enjoyed a small breakfast in the hotel which was reasonably priced. I would happily recommend this hotel.

Up front: My husband and I did not stay in this hotel. We were stopping in Cherbourg on a cruise and we had walked around the town, then decided to walk back to the ship. But we went left instead of right, and even though the ship was in sight, we couldn't get to it without walking all the way...

Clean, comfortable stay at the Renaissance. Only criticisms the hotel was closed upon arrival at 13.00 despite advising them of our time of arrival upon booking and there is no lift to the rooms. I would stay here again and I would recommend anyone looking for a hotel close to the seafront and centrally located without suffering from a noisy...

When we visit Cherbourg we always stay at the Renaissance. It's a small hotel (12 rooms?) but very clean, comfortable and conveniently located. Olivier, the patron, makes you very welcome (in French or in English). The hotel is part of the Contact group which offers a free stay (up to a value) every 12th night that one stays in a...

We'd stayed in this hotel before, in 2006' and chose it again because of its convenient location. The small bedroom was clean and bright, and had a good view of the harbour. The electric external shutters meant that we weren't woken up by the morning sunshine. We couldn't park very close to the hotel this time - perhaps because it...

We stayed with children having arrived from the UK. The family room is poorly equipped for families, the curtains are see-through, there are no facilities. Be careful about the price as it is oddly expensive. We were charged for our 10month old daughters breakfast - they claimed we ordered a croissant and 1m baguette for her and also a jug...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The hotel Renaissance, located in the center of Cherbourg behind the Trinity's Basilica, is open all the year except for christmas holidays. The sites of DCNS, CMN and "La Cite de la Mer" are at two minute by car or five-ten minutes by foot from the hotel. The reprocessing plant of AREVA and the Flamanville nuclear power plant are, for their part, at a half-hour by car, easily serviced by the road in front of the hotel. Each of its twelve large and spacious rooms plays a different setting, with the opportunity to offer a truly magnificent panoramic view of the sea and the port. ... more   less
