I have hesitated to write this review. This was the worst accommodations we have ever experienced! We booked 3 nights over 6 months in advance. We were told which room we were to receive in the house and after several good phone conversations with Rosemary were we certain we had picked the right place- WRONG -The week before we left...

The Colonel has a room with interesting things about the landings. And there are always other guests who are interesting to converse with at breakfast.. The place is old and could use some updating but still it is charming and comfortable. It is very convenient for going to the Beaches and into the main part of Bayeux. The only caution...

We realy enjoyed our time here with Rosemary and the Colonel. I was a little concerned after reading a few of the earlier reviews - but although the decor certainly could use some refreshing, we had no issues with cleanliness or comfort. After a long night and day of travel from the U.S., Rosemary welcomed us warmly and offered tea...

MIchael and his wife are charming hosts in this wonderful ancient manor house. Given they are 79 and 80 years each this is a huge place to manage with the good humour and interesting stories they share. For Bayeux you are perfectly placed for either a 20 minute walk into the town or to drive and visit the landing beaches...

We stayed with our 2 toddlers in the gite, it was perfect for us, thanks Rosemary. The Gite was very comfortable and quite clean, and was very good value. Great character place to stay, and a charming and helpful hostess

Manoir des Doyens is a perfect British beachhead in the middle of Normandy. The inn, it's charming hosts Rosemary and the Colonel, and peaceful setting provide for a rich experience. The inn is cosy, very much like staying with relatives and perfect for the price. The daily continental breakfast has local fresh assorted breads, pastries, homemade jams, fresh fruit and...

It is very hard for me to write this review because Rosemary was outstanding communicating with me. She was very sweet, and very accommodating. She left shortly after we arrived to attend a family function, but left us under the care of her friends, Caroline and Collin, and they were terrific. The location is wonderful; it is a very pleasant...

Stayed for 4 nights. Great place, lots of character (French building, English hospitality). Rosemary very welcoming and full of advice when asked for local eateries. Room large and plenty of storage. Narrow gateway to get the car through but plenty of space in the courtyard to park. Breakfast continental with lots of home-made preserves, excellent, everyone sat at one table...

quirky old manor house which was used by the allies as a field hospital in WW2 - and the barn was used to house German prisoners; very reasonable price; good breakfast; the Colonel had lots of advice to give on where to go and the background to the battlefields; library full of interesting books on the area and WW2 in...

We absolutely loved our week with Rosemary and the Colonel, but you should read the other reviews to see if this is the place for you. Someone else hit the nail on the head, it is exactly like staying with your Grandmother - if your Grandmother happens to own a manor in France. We enjoyed our conversations with the Colonel,...
