Although this is quite a nice hotel, we stayed in the older part inside the medieval village. It is shown on Google as 3 - 3.5 star, the sign outside says 2 star which is what I would personally say it is. The plumbing is very noisy and I would suggest thay maybe some soundproofing of the bathroom is introduced...

Fabulous location! Right at the beginning of the medieval city. The staff was prompt to answer questions and even called to check that we were okay when we hadn't arrived yet. The beds were comfortable and the shower was fantastic! Since it's right on the main street, it could be a little noisy at night, but not for long. The...

We stayed two nights in this hotel as part of a coach tour. It is basically very old but has all modern amenities. village itself is a bustling and noisystreet on the side of a hill but went quiet in the evening givving a quiet night and a good night's sleep in the well sized clean room. The meals were...

Firstly I must emphasise that this hotel is in several parts. One part, the newest, is just outside the gateway to the medieval village. The older part, and the part that this review is about, is just inside the 13thC gateway with the restaurant is just across the narrow street directly opposite. I stayed, with my wife, whilst on an...

A coach load of tourists took priority here before the other clients. Good choice of menu, plenty of different Duck dishes if you like it, it is typical in the area, slow service, tasty food and large portions. Nothing special really though. Price average.

We have just spent a week walking the dordogne region. The hotels included were rated 2 and 3 star. Our expectations were not high. However, as the week progressed we became more and more pleased with the standard of the hotels. Our agent had advised that we would be very happy with our final stay. One cannot argue with the...

Across my reviews the class/mode of travel varies enormously and this one is of an Alfa Tours experience - excellent value for money! The block booking, with tight money margins, into this hotel in this village was the first surprise. Proprietors, French chef Mannu and his English partner Sally are excellent managers, providing lovely rooms overlooking the street which are...

We stay at this amazing hotel in this wonderful village as part of a Alfa travel coach holiday. The hotel has an oldie world charm about it, complete with creaky floor boards and shuttered windows. The room was very clean and comfortable The staff were very friendly and nothing was to much trouble for them. Sally and Mannu owners of the...

I stayed at this hotel as part of a coach party. OK it was not modern or state of the art but it had character and was comfortable, scrupulously clean and homely. The staff were helpful and friendly - I even tried my French with them! Sally, one of the owners, was English and was very helpful and friendly. She...

Stayed at the Lion D'Or as a coach group. Entry to the village was through a rough-hewn angled tunnel through the rock which tested the modern-day coach driver's ability! The Hotel is set against the cliff face on one side of the single village street, with the restaurant across the road. The lift was tiny - very intimate when four...
