This is a quiet, 2 star hotel offering room and breakfast (optional). It is located on a narrow street opposite a largish church which has a loud clock, which fortunately only chimes during daylight hours. It provides breakfast only in a small breakfast room on the ground floor, the breakfast is a cold buffet with cereals, fruit, yogurt, ham, cheese,...

This hotel is two-star rated so there are no frills. It's in a really nice residential part of Paris, though, and just a few steps from Jourdain metro station on Line 11, which takes you direct to Chatelet station. There is small lift (really only room for one person with luggage), which was very welcome as we were on the...

We stayed at that hotel for 6 nights. Our room was on the 5th floor with a great view to the cathedral. The wifi worked very well. As we arrived at the beginning of March we were afraid that it could be cold in a room, but the heating was working very well so it was warm and comfortable. The...

The rooms were cleaned. I noticed it is better to book a room by calling them directly. The staff was helpful. The metro station is very close. They give you a discount of 10% (in June) if you go to their restaurant. Friday is the day of couscous and pailla. The couscous was very good and the waiter is very...

Nice clean hotel, reasonably priced and easy to find being next to a church.(on the left of the church as you look at it with its front windows looking out at the side of the church). It has a nice bar next to it and plenty of bars/ restaurants in its vicinity. The Jourdain metro station is about 60 m away...

The hotel is right next to metro, excellent location and my room 206 had an excellent view looking at the chapel next to the hotel. There's a bar open until late right underneath the hotel. The room was clean and everything was nice. Overall very good for money. Breakfast was extra though.

Best ideal location. Only 20 steps away from the metro. Room as usual, was extremely small but very comfortable. It is managed by individual owner. Family managed. There are 2 restaurants just next to the hotel. One managed by local French and the other, local French-Chinese. Both served very good coffee, beer and breakfast. I stayed there for 4 nights....

I visit Paris every year. Generally I rent an apartment in the 20th arrondissement. Often I will arrive a day or two before my rental apartment is ready, so I stay in the perdrix rouge (red partridge). I have always found the staff to be very kind and the rooms clean and comfortable. After the last few stays, the desk...

We choosed this hotel by chance and was actually a very good choice, particularly comparing the location (just in front of the church of Jean Baptiste) with the reasonable price of our double room, clean and comfortable even if small. I definitely recommend this choice, even for the pleasantness of the surroundings and the neighborhood of Belleville, which maintains a...

I found this hotel to be very clean (although still traces of cigarette smoking even though people aren't supposed to be) and in a pleasant residential area. We didn't use the lift (I suffer from claustrophobia) as it was tiny - and then there was the attempt at overcharging scenario... The night before we were due to leave, the person...

Staying in Belleville / Pere Lachaise

Neighbourhood Profile
Belleville / Pere Lachaise
At the eastern edge of Paris lies Belleville / Père Lachaise, an understated wonderland of local treasures. Alongside the world-famous cemetery, family-owned delicatessens and cafés nestle between local stores and establishments. The richness of the population here has created a little Chinatown of Asian restaurants, and the area comes to life at night by a funky underground scene. Façades change from one street to another as one passes from white walled provincial homes to tall blocks and reconverted homes. The whole area is an inspirational mix of people from all corners of the world frequented by artists, students, immigrants, and Parisian families. Once home to supporters of the Paris commune, its rebellious nature is now offset by its rural charms.
