My sister booked a room for 2 nights when I was visiting her in London (from Perth Australia). We both love Paris and have been many times and make a point of staying in different places. She booked twin beds which was supplied after querying at check-in with only minor fuss. Our room was on the first floor (ground) so...

We've just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. It was a perfect choice ; good location , nicely decorated and spacious rooms, friendly helpful staff and a delicious breakfast not to forget the small garden. Being close to the Vavin metro station all the Paris highlights are near while you can enjoy a more quiet and very...

We booked our trip to Paris for Thanksgiving week, 2007. We booked the hotel as part of a package deal with AAA. We got an amazing deal, but were a little apprehensive given the mixed reviews. We had room 404. There was a queen bed, a single bed, and a twin sofa bed in the room. Plenty of room to...

A charming hotel with spacious rooms - bigger than anything else we've experienced in Paris in the same price range. Location may not be an obvious first choice, but it's very close to a Metro station with a direct link to the city and Gare du Nord. Jardin du Luxembourg and Montparnasse Cemetary are a short walk away. We stayed...

Our recent visit to Paris was made even better by our stay in the very friendly and comfortable Villa Des Artistes. The staff was kind and very hospitable, and all spoke excellent English. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was modern with a huge tub and lots of hot water! We were amazed at how quiet it...

I read all the other reviews of this hotel and have to admit to feeling a bit apprehensive as they seem to be split 50/50 good and bad. I should not have worried. I have no idea what the people who say "awful staff" are talking about. The two gentleman and the woman who work the front desk throughout the...

I was one of seven family members who stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in August. I had booked the hotel on the internet, hoping that it was close to what we wanted: A place to relax and get a good nights sleep after running around in Paris all day. We were not disappointed. We arrived a few hours...

I will never disregard negative reviews again, I wish we would have paid attention to the ones about this place. It is depressingly outdated and the rooms look nothing like the ones on the website for the hotel. The staff, which consisted of 1 or 2 men at the front desk, were very rude and unfriendly, making us feel like...

We chose this hotel after what felt like an endless online search, it was our first trip to Paris and we do not speak French. This hotel and it's staff were fabulous. They were very helpful and accomodating. The hotel is literally a 2 minute walk to the Vavin Station on the metro and is in a very nice neighborhood....

We moved to this hotel after our initial hotel was dreadful! This hotel was small but lovely! Everything you need for a city break! It was in a superb location with the metro station 1 minute walk away. It was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were not that small at all and very modern and clean!...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
