My wife and I spend three nights at the Hotel Hospitel. Location is simply the best. Every morning, we strolled into Notre Dame, which was about a hundred yards from our front door. Also, a couple of minutes to Sainte Chapelle, and a quick walk to the Latin Quarter for good and cheap food. Two Metro Stations within five minutes.... More

This perfect spot is situated where you can walk all over Paris and within a few minutes walk are some of the most famous attractions, the Latin quarter where every type of food can be enjoyed. The staff at this hotel in the roof of the hospital are very helpful and I did love the huge skylight above the bed... More

This place heightens the excitement of visiting the architectural power-house, Paris. The courtyard, the vast structure, the spiral staircase, the views from the fourth floor of the courtyard, and the assurance that you are in the heart of zone 1, why go elsewhere? I love Paris and I want to live there as an American citizen. Maybe I can get... More

If you're looking for a convenient hotel in the center of Paris, look no further. This funky hotel, located on the top floor of a working hospital, provides clean rooms, great service, and even room service! The carpet is a little faded and the rooms could use some paint, but the basics are clean and available. I loved the location... More

On the top floor of a wing of the Hotel Dieu - the oldest continually operating hospital in the world (founded 651). Right across the street from Notre Dame. A few steps from the RER-C from CDG (escalator up, not down - 2 blocks from elevator to station). Helpful friendly staff. You can get a simple breakfast at the hospital... More

Should your lover and you want to wake up with the sound of Quasimodo joyously ringing the bells of Notre Dame de Paris at 8am then this is the place to stay. Rooms are small and spartan. Beds clean, bathtub barely large enough to accommodate two wet and naked bodies. And there are free wifi services and such... Tiptoeing and... More

The Hotel Dieu is right next to Notre Dame and the St. Michel Metro stop. The staff is multilingual and extremely helpful. There are a few disadvantages you need to be aware of, however. There were three of us - a married couple and our 18-year old grandson. The triple room was small - inches between our bed and our... More

This location cannot be beat, especially at this price. The walk from the front door of the building to the Notre Dame plaza is literally 40 feet. It is just across the street. The staff was lovely and the optional breakfast was reasonable. The staff arranged taxis for us and answered all our questions with a smile. The room was... More

Directly across the street from Notre Dame. The staff was outgoing and very helpful. Breakfast (croissants, yogurt, fruit, coffee, tea) delivered to your room by the friendly Tulia. There is a lift, but you must tackle 8 stairs to get to it. Fortunately, there were folks around to help us maneuver the stairs. The rooms are clean, basic have have... More

If you are looking for fancy creature comforts and pampering service, look elsewhere. However, if you are content with the basics in a great location in a safe environment, with friendly and helpful staff, consider Hospitel-Hotel Dieu. Located on the 6th floor of Hospital Dieu, the rooms were originally intended for families staying with patients. Notre Dame Cathedral is on... More

Staying in Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis

Neighbourhood Profile
Ile de la Cite / Ile Saint-Louis
Two islands sit in the middle of the Seine at the very heart of Paris. The more majestic one, Ile de la Cité, sparkles with history. This is the birthplace of Paris, the home of the Gothic Sainte-Chapelle, and the site of the prison where Marie Antoinette was held before her execution. Tourists flock to see the iconic Notre Dame and the beautiful bridges that straddle the Seine. Ile Saint-Louis, the more provincial island, welcomes you with cozy traditional eateries, small boutiques, and what some people say is the best ice cream in the city. This is essential Paris from its very beginnings to its modern appeal.
