I have just returned from a wonderful weekend in Paris, due in no small part to the fabulous Hotel Marignan. Situated on a quiet street just off Boulevard St Germain, the hotel is perfectly situated to walk to lovely cafes, bars and the sights of Paris. Notre Dame is a 5 min walk away and we merrily saw a great...

If you are looking for an extremely convenient location and an excellent price, then this is the place. We took the metro only once, because this hotel is so centrally located that we were able to walk everywhere. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was good. My only complain is about the cleanliness and the Wi-Fi connection. We found...

Hotel Marignan is the best value for its location when visiting Paris. My husband and I stayed there in October and couldn't have been more pleased. The location is excellent-just a few blocks from Notre Dame and 2 metro stops. It's also just a few blocks from 2 streets of restaurants ,offering many dining choices. The staff was very helpful,...

If you don't want to spend a small fortune, but want somewhere quiet and comfortable to stay, this is for you. Our room was really clean and a good size. Bed was comfortable. The hotel's location is excellent, close to shops and places to eat. Breakfast certainly was basic (I'll never eat Nutella again), but for what we had paid,...

We were so glad we booked this hotel. Location aside, which is perfect, it was a wonderful place to stay, with fantastic staff and a friendly clientel from all over the world, with a nice nice mix of ages. One couple we met there has been staying there for over 20 years. That alone says it all. The hotel is...

The Marignan was our home in Paris for 7 nights. We had booked at the last minute by phone and they had a room for two nights, then were totally booked for one night but could accommodate us for the rest of our stay of five more nights. We agreed to this plan and were totally happy. The first two...

There may be a better hotel in Paris than the Marignan if you're on a budget - but I doubt it! At these prices, this hotel is a bargain. The rooms are basic - no tv, no mini bar - but they are very clean and comfortable. The tariff includes breakfast, again basic but more than enough to get you...

Had a great stay here. I'll start by saying that Marignan is, indeed, a 1-star hotel, so if you're looking for huge rooms, jetted tubs & silk sheets, you should look elsewhere. What you'll find here is clean-but-worn carpets, bedcovers, etc., & rooms that are typically-sized for Paris (meaning small, but no worse than in 3-star hotels elsewhere in town)....

As stated, this place is in a great location, and the price is right for Paris. That's about it. Front desk acted like camp counselors. Heard them say to an older man who was complaining about noise in adjoining room the previous night that he should have talked to the culprits. My wife mentioned to the front desk woman that...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
