We are a young couple and we were visiting Paris in October/November 2012. The surrounding of this hostel is very nice, as it is in the artistic district Montmarte, which we liked the most. There are a lot of hills there, so if you don’t like the stairs you would rather choose another district ;) The subway is about 10...

We really liked it. They were super helpful when we had to change our nights around. The area is awesome and their bar is pretty good. The free breakfast is good aswell. The wifi is a little useless though

I was there recently on two different occasions. First time, the 4 beds dorm room ensuite was in the second basement. I could hear people in the stairs. There was a smell of humidity in the room. But the neighborhood is lovely so I decided to go back again. The second time, the 6 beds dorm room ensuite was much...

I recently spent 4 nights at this hostel in a twin room. The hostel is hard to find, off a side street from the main road. The staff were friendly enough but the room was filthy and very small, the wall paper was peeling off the walls and there was a lot of dirty marks on it and lots of...

I stayed here for 2 nights on the first weekend of June. The hostel is about 5 minutes from the metro "Lamark-Caulaincourt". I will say that this metro station has over 100 steps and then there are more steps to get to the hostel. Otherwise, the location is good - we are in the lovely area of Montmartre and a...

Firstly, the location is hard to find. The reception staff are quite unwelcoming and this was annoying after a long journey with our heavy backpacks. A couple of days into our stay we had a stolen coat situation and when I went down to reception to ask the manager about where it could have gone not only was he incredibly...

My husband & I first stayed here in 2002 & loved it. Unfortunately, this time, our experience was much less enjoyable. I admit I'm older & perhaps a bit grouchier now. Too bad the same can be said about Caulaincourt Square. Our room was large, but it was dirty & in need of new curtains & a fresh coat of...

I really enjoyed my time in this hostel, it is located in Montmartre very close to the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur and is walkable from Garde du Norde (around 25 mins, its only a little shorter if you take the metro and it is a nice walk especially when you get away from the slightly dodgy area of Boulevard de Magenta)....

Stayed for Easter weekend. Cheap rooms on the top floor with excellent views. Had a 6 person dorm for 5 people, luckily no one else occupied the remaining bed. Room had a toilet and shower. 3 bunk beds with minimal squeaks. Breakfast of croissants, bread with spreads, hot drinks, juice and an assortment of cereals available but there is a...

The place offers small rooms that are gokd enough overall, however they only give you one blanket, if you want two, bring one yourself! Breakfast is great, definitely much better then what you can have even in more expensive hotels. The place is silent at night, you are going to realize how many, from all around the world, slept here...

Staying in Montmartre

Neighbourhood Profile
Montmartre
Montmartre is a bustling mix of cultures, colours, and styles which changes from one street to another. Ride the funicular (or, for a real workout, climb the steps) to the sublime Sacré-Coeur (Basilica of the Sacred Heart) with its inspiring view of the city. The church is surrounded by provincial streets and piano bars where tourists, artists, and street entertainers thrive. At the foot of the hill, Boulevard de Clichy features shops not intended for young audiences, while residences are scattered to the north and east. The diverse population includes a large part from the Arab-speaking world, Africa, and Turkey. It’s a corner of Paris full of life and dynamism with charms that can’t be found anywhere else.
