My husband and I recently visited Paris, France in May, 2009. We stayed at the Hotel Castex for 4 nights. Based on the good reviews from Trip Advisor and the fact that is was the number 1 rated hotel in its price range in our travel book, I had high expectations for this hotel. Pleasantly, it was very conveniently located...

The hotel may have some fine rooms, but 604 (on the first floor) is not one of them. Great location and some fine staff, save one who could barely conceal his scorn for anyone who dared ask a question. Breakfast was spare by French hotel standards.

Room was clean and comfortable. Just what you expect form a tree star hotel. The people were friendly and gave ideas where to park the car (the hotel does not privide parking spaces). Only critical remark: The room we had at the court yard was noisy, we could literally follow conversations of other hotel guest. Luckely most of them were...

My daughter and I stayed one night as planned - booked on the internet with ease - all staff were extremely helpful and friendly - the hotel and our ropm were very clean - the bathroom spotlessly so - ours was on the top floor at the front with interesting view -it was quite small but this wasn't a problem...

Rooms are not massive but they very clean, well-equipped and quiet. The breakfast is a bit basic and not really worth the money so I would recommend trying one of the many cafes nearby instead.

This was my second stay at the Castex in Paris, and was booked without hesitation. The hotel's location is great, with an easy stroll to the Bastille metro station, and an easy walk to the Marais and beyond. The service is very good, with English spoken freely. Will definitely stay again when next in Paris.

First stay at the Castex, and I'd definitely go back. The rooms are small but well laid out and very comforrtable. The bathrooms are good sized and mine had a real shower - with a curtain - over the big bathtub. The hotel is in a great location in the Marais. Just a short walk from the Bastille Metro, and...

The reception team is very helpful and they speak very good english. They helped us looking for restaurants and parking. The location is perfect: two blocks far from Bastile metro station, 5 minutes walking to reach Ile St-Louis and Notre-Dame and 10 min to Quartier Latin. Good value.

This was my third time at the Castex and as always I was not disappointed. Close to the lively Bastille and the elegant Marais and there is the metro stop Bastille and also plenty of bus options . It is close enough to walk to all the major sites and also plenty of great restaurants and shopping near-by. The rooms...

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
