As far as budget hotels go Belta is fine. The staff were friendly and helpful when we arrived showing us how best to get around and tips for avoiding pick pockets etc. It would have been nice to have a safe in the room and...More

Hotel was spotless. Room sizes reasonable. Staff well mannered, multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Italian all seemed to be no problem for them) and very helpful. Excellent value for money. Only complaint was that breakfast room staff seemed to be overwhelmed by weekend rush and did not...More

The tree-lined Canal Saint-Martin is the focal point of one of the most romantic and hip areas of Paris. Watch boats travel along the canal while lovers and friends take in the atmosphere from the banks or the bridges. Evenings see hoards fill the embankments to drink wine and enjoy good company. The colder days lead people to hipster bars, cozy restaurants, and concert spaces. Those who are more adventurous may

Hi yes we had backpacks with us and didn't feel unsafe, we were however travelling during the day. It's easy enough to get to. Take the train to Paris from the airport to Guarde de Nord. From there take the underground to Guarde de Est. There are people hanging around the stations offering to help and they can be a bit intimidating but just ignore them. We caught the train back at 5 in the morning and it was ok was approached by one guy but just ignored him and he wasn't any problems. I travelled with my daughter and the only time we felt nervous was coming back after 11.30pm to guard d Est as it was very quiet except for a lot of men hanging around. However we were fine but I would get a taxi if we were to do it at that time again. The area around the hotel is great, good quirky cafes and pubs and we felt safe around there. Hope this helps
