Hotel de l'Universite is great value. We stayed there in May 2016. We requested and received the most quiet room possible (#302?). It was on a floor with no other rooms. You simply walk down a few stairs from the next floor up. It faced the courtyard. The room had a small vestibule before getting into the room. The room...

The hotel is very tidy and clean. Personnel is very attentive and resolves your problems quickly. Breakfast is OK but expensive for the diversity of offered items. Location is really good in Saint Germain des Près, near to the metro and to many restaurants.

Very cozy and welcoming hotel in great location! Room is comfortable and clean, staff is very accommodating, and is located close to all the hotspots! Free wifi and nice breakfast offered. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

With so many hotels in Paris, it is difficult to choose a place based on websites. This is a gem. I would say it is on the higher end of the middle budget category but the staff were fantastic (the maid helped me with my luggage!) and the location is convenient. Only drawback was the street noise (hard to be...

Excellent location in an area with lots of restaurants bars, cafes etc...You can practically do everything in walking distance and 2 of the metro lines have near by stations Very eager to help staff especially all the receptionists. We used the ground floor room and thought that t would be noisy but as it turned out it was not.

Close to everything and sight seeing was easy fro this location. Hotel was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Unfortunately the elevator is only big enough for two people with one suitcase. Otherwise use the stairs. Good Wifi.

The staff at this hotel make sure you are happy. My husband and I got into Paris at a very early hour and stopped by the hotel to drop our bags. The manager kindly informed us that he might be able to get our room ready earlier than the 1:00 check in time so we left to get breakfast and...

We spent 3 nights at this lovely little hotel in the midst of St Germain Des Pres. I was impressed before we arrived when I was emailed a pre-stay survey asking if we had any special room requests, needed any advice on travelling to the hotel, restaurant recommendations etc. I replied and received a prompt response with useful information which...

It has been about 25 years since I last stayed here. Things have changed a bit. The rooms have been renovated, offering air conditioning and upgraded plumbing. Decor is more modern and “built-in,” so at least my room did not have quite the same quaint charm as the room in my memory. One thing that hasn’t changed is the friendly...

This hotel is located in the St Germain area, which is a very good area and in a great location for enjoying Paris on foot. It is also less than a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro stop.. the immediate area had cafes and parks nearby and is only a short walk down to the river. The staff are...

Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Hotel de l’Université is a former Benedictine convent and has retained many period features while adapting to the needs of 21st century society. The reception area is vast and delightful with its ancient beams. It is an immediate illustration of the style and appeal of this quality establishment. The Hotel de l’Université only has 27 bedrooms, allowing the staff to focus on an individualized care. Each room has its own decor and character, many ornate with ageless beams, but all benefiting from tall traditional Parisian windows allowing daylight to flood in. All the rooms have been renovated in 2011 and include air-conditioning, mini-bar, safety deposit box and a free Wi-Fi connection. A laundry service is available upon request. The rooms on the top floor overlook the rooftops of Paris and some have the rare bonus of a private terrace. The Hotel de l’Université is not a place to stay for the night. It is a journey into the history and style of Parisian life, a chance to experience life as one of the locals and bring back unforgettable memories. ... more   less
