We spent three nights at the Hotel des Grandes Hommes (we were to spend 7 originally) and were slightly disappointed with the hotel. Although it was at a great location the room left a fair bit to be desired. The reception on the TV was very poor and although we were promised that it would be fixed immediately it was...

Dear madam, I'm very sad to read this comment and to see that you were upset. I must admit that I remember perfectly well to have spoken to you about the TV : As we told you, we did check the problem on the very day & called the company as the reception was not clear. Concerning the wifi access,...

Stayed for three days. The room was well appointed, the bathroom spacious. Our view was directly onto the Square and the Pantheon, well worth it. Breakfast was good. Staff very helpful, particularly the night staff on our last stay who rectified a discrepency with the bill. In fact my fifteen year old son remarked that that staff member had made...

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights - late December 2007, our first visit to Paris. Booking through the hotel's internet site is recommended for the best rate. From our experience we have awarded the Hotel des Grands Hommes the 3 C's for being charming, clean and comfortable, all that a traveller needs. Our arrival at...

Dear guest, Thanks a lot for this very detailed comment about positive & negative points. Be assured that we will concentrate all our efforts on what is the base of our job : the service. You will certainly have read that most of our guests felt different about our staff but I'm pretty sure that the fact to read your...

Cosy little hotel with stylish and clean rooms, slept very well thanks to comfortable bed and silence. Bathroom clean and modern. Breakfast was sufficient with diffrent alternatives, breakfast room could be moved from the cellar to the ground floor. Great location next to the Panthéon, nearest metro station if you head for the West of Paris requires some walking.

We have recently had a lovely long weekend and throughly enjoyed our stay at this charming hotel. Whilst not top end luxury this hotel was a haven after a long day walking. It was very clean and tidy compared to some other 3* hotels we saw around the city and the staff were very accomodating. The rooms were of a...

Our room was seriously small and I was immediately disappointed. It was listed as a superior double and I can only imagine what size a normal double would of been! The air conditioning didn't work and so you had to have the balcony doors open which lead straight out on to a joint balcony. The decoration was 'interesting' and dated....

We stayed at this hotel for a week over Christmas 2007 and found it to be charming, very clean and very well run. It is centrally located in the Latin Quarter so we were able to walk to many museums and attractions during our stay. As you would expect in Paris, our room was very very small but beautifully furnished...

We had a lovely stay at the Hotel des Grands Hommes from 17 Dec - 20 Dec 2007. We booked a Christmas special on the hotel website for a family room, which was two separate rooms - one double and one twin. The double room was very small with spacious bathroom (we kept both our suitcases in the bathroom as...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
