Detailed Reviews
We spent 7 nights in a Superior room the last week of October. It was pretty much just as expected with no unpleasant surprises. We were on the 3rd floor with windows facing into the interior courtyard(really more like a built in skylight) We used the tiny elevator to go up to the room and always the stairs to come down. We booked direct w/ the hotel and took the 5euro pp breakfast option. It was a great value, given that just a cup of coffee anywhere outside could be 3 euros. The breakfast options were adequate and didn't change much but certainly enough and the fresh baguette bread and pastries were always welcome.
We got a peak into some of the standard rooms & they looked quite small. We were glad to have the superior room if only for the extra space it provided for our clothes etc. There isn't a proper closet in the room, just an antique wardrobe so that was not nearly enough for a week's worth of cool weather clothing for 2.
My only other negative would be the lighting, which was poorly positioned, so I had to prop a mirror by the window in the mornings to try & do my makeup.
For our first stay in Paris, I couldn't have been happier with the location. We used the metro every day and the Odeon station is literally less than a block away. But we also walked for miles and we could easily reach the Right Bank, the Louvre, the D'Orsay, and all of St. Germain by foot. Within 3-4 blocks of the hotel there are 3 movie theatres, several bakeries, 100's of restaurants, pharmacies, grocery stores, wine boutiques, etc. We had some great meals, some so-so and a couple of take- aways when we were hungry in the late afternoon( when most kitchens are closed)
The hotel staff was friendly and helpful when needed and everything was very tidy & clean.

We checked in after a week's cruise on the Seine and it was wonderful that they were able to let us in to our room well before check-in time which gave us time to settle and then go out and see more of Paris. The room was quite spacious and very clean, looking to the courtyard area. Only negative was they are a bit "skimpy" on the toiletries. Thankfully we had our own soap and shampoo. There were small bottles of shower gel & small soaps for the sink. You may want to consider your own wash cloth as the disposable ones provided were a bit rough. Very close to the Metro stop which we were most appreciative of. Breakfast was adequate although did not vary from day to day. The person staffing the dining area was very nice and efficient. Front desk staff was pleasant although not very out going- more reserved than other places we have stayed. We would certainly consider staying here again if we made a return trip to Paris.

I had a great stay here (3 nights in a standard room). The room overlooked the street but was really quiet, the bed was really comfortable and the room had everything I needed.
The breakfast was very good value, with lots of choice, delicious pastries and good coffee. The lady who oversaw breakfast was just lovely, remembering my coffee and juice order every day, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful.
The location is just perfect - 15 minutes walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Pantheon - Odeon metro a minute away and lots of lovely restaurants and cafes within a few minutes.
Highly recommended!

The hotel was ok but the most frustrating thing about staying here was the staff lied to us. We left a bag in the room and they claimed they didn't have it. We called them about 20 mins after we checked out and were 100% sure we left it in the room and they claimed they didn't have it. It was very frustrating because we checked out at around 8:30am and then called around 9am and there's no way the room had been cleaned yet but even if it was cleaned then the maid would have seen it. They claimed they didn't see it but where else would it have been.

Response from stephane teil, General Manager at Hotel Left Bank Saint Germain
Responded 9 Nov 2021
Dear Madam, We would like to thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Paris. However we are very surprised to read your comment. As soon as you called the hotel ,Jérôme at the front desk asked the maid to check your room and he didn't find anything. The maid must inform the reception of all things left by customers. We have a book where objects, bags, luggage, clothes... are registered and kept for one year. We are sorry for this inconvenience and hope to welcome you very soon in our hotel. Best regards The Manager

We picked this particular hotel over the numerous other Parisan hotels b/c it offered beds/cots for our teen children in the same room instead of uncomfortable sofa beds of other hotels. This was the only true plus for me. I see the hotel's potential given its great location not only within the city but proximity to the metro. Perhaps other rooms would not have disappointed but alas ours was a big miss.
We were on the ground floor of the hotel tucked behind the breakfast room. Our room smelt musty & the "window" didn't look outside but rather back into the hotel hallway. So if we decided to open it to help air out the room all the other guests could look directly in as they awaited the lift or waited in the lobby.
The staff assisted with kept luggage & arranging transport to the airport but it didn't make up for our disappointment with our room.
I personally will not return to this establishment, I feel there are better options yet to be discovered.

Dear Guest Thank you fort our comment. It is very important for us to have the feedback of your stay. we were very sorry that we were not able to move your to another room as the hotel was fully booked at that time . We understand that you did not like this room. Please be sure that we would have been more than pleased to move you to another room of your convenience if it would have been possible. On another side, a lot of our returning guests specifically ask fort this room that they particularly like very much for a lot of different reasons .it is really a question of taste. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you in another occasion and show our other rooms Kind regards Laurence

Very nice hotel in a great section of Paris. Rooms were nice, comfortable and clean. Front desk staff was helpful when we needed information and helping set up transportation to the airport. Breakfast was very inexpensive, but selection was minimal. Ate their only once during our stay since there are so many other places to try. We had 2 rooms both had hairdryers but the one in my room was very hard to use. It was attached to the wall and the hose limited the way you could use it. There was also no outlet in my bathroom. Outlet next to my bed was located underneath the nightstand. Was hard to see unless you actually got down on the ground and looked. To turn the lights on in your room you need to insert your key into the wall slot. It was not mentioned when we checked in but luckily, I had heard about something similar from reading a German hotel review. Elevator is very small but serves the purpose.

A beautiful hotel with charm in a great part of town.
Particularly great for us as a family of five: At the top there is a suite with five beds - according to my research, an absolute rarity in Paris, almost every room has a maximum of four people.
The room is typical of older Parisian hotels: heavy furniture, embroidered wallpaper, old cupboards. Of course, you have to climb into the bathtub to take a shower, the bathroom floor is cold and some of the windows are stuck. But: the beds are comfortable, there are generous towels and the breakfast (only 5 euros per person!) is downright lavish by Parisian standards. The room was perfect for a four-day city trip, we felt extremely comfortable.
And the Saint Germain district is incredibly pretty, one interesting shop next to the other, one charming brasserie next to the next.

We have stayed at the Left Bank many times and it is still our very favorite location in Paris. The staff is helpful, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Walk outside and you are on and near the nicest streets on the Left Bank, Rue Buci, Blvd St. Germaine, etc. Many of the major tourist sites are within a relatively short walk (e..g., Luxembourg Gardens, Notre Dame, Lourve and Orsay museums). Plus, within a few blocks you have an amazing numbers of cafes, restaurants, and brassieres.
We still strongly recommend the Hotel Left Bank!

The overall experience with our stay was very good, and the location was excellent with close access to the Seine, Norte Dame, Sainte Chapelle, Luxembourg Gardens and only 2 min from the Odeon Metro entrance. Great shopping on the Boulevard St. Germain.
Lots of Cafes, Brasseries and Patisseries nearby as well as a grocery market.
The decor was charming, quintessential French, and the room was nice, a bit small, but typical for Paris.
The bed and pillows were a bit firm for our particular taste, but not a real problem.
The staff was courteous, but usually only one person at the reception desk, so it was a bit hard for him to juggle a request like providing an addition pillow, etc, so we just let that go. Not unlike other places we have stayed at in Paris, no wash cloths, so you might want to bring your own.

3 nights in this lovely hotel. Perfectly located for exploring with plenty of shops, cafes and dining options within walking distance. Metro 2 minutes away and the hop on and off buses all stop within a 10 minutes walk.
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. A very basic breakfast available at a reasonable price of €5 if added on in advance of stay.

Dear Madam,
We are pleased to confirm that there is a closet in all our standard rooms. There are shelves and hanging possibilities as well.
Looking forward to welcoming you to the hotel Left Bank to make your stay the most enjoyable as possible.
Best regards,
Antoine

There is a lift and the rooms have private bathrooms. I’m not sure if all rooms are non-smoking but mine definitely was so you can request one.
Most likely not. We requested a King bed and it was more like a double bed. So, a single bed is going to be like a twin bed, if that ! The rooms and beds in this hotel are super small. Also, don’t leave anything of value here. We accidentally left a bag in our room after we checked out, realized we had left it, called them up 20 mins later and they claim they didn’t have it which is absolutely false.
