The Novotel Paris Gare de Lyon is often commended for its friendly service, particularly the attentiveness of its restaurant staff and the responsiveness of the reception, although a few guests have encountered inconsistencies. Its rooms are generally celebrated for their spaciousness and modern amenities, yet some have raised concerns over cleanliness. While the value proposition receives mixed reviews due to additional costs, the hotel's amenities, including a heated swimming pool and diverse breakfast options, are widely appreciated.
The hotel's location next to key transport links is frequently cited as a major convenience, and its overall cleanliness is well-regarded. However, an occasionally overwhelming welcome and loud music have been noted as detracting from the atmosphere.

I traveled to Paris with family for vacation in August 2023. The Hotel was chosen for reasons of convenience, being close, or rather attached, to one of the main and historic railway stations in Paris, and therefore to the RER A (directly leading to Disneyland, or to the Eiffel Tower or Arc de Triomphe.. .) and two metro lines. It goes without saying that the Paris transport service is fast and efficient (excluding some closures for maintenance in August). The modern hotel, with a large and modern lobby bar, with excellent barmen, is a good 4 star! There is no real reception or concierge but rather modern reception points with - in my opinion - interns, it is almost all computerized (Hotel entrance, room, gym, swimming pool, lift with card). Also check-in/out!! In the seven days of our stay we never found any receptionist who spoke Italian, despite having requested it. The room was a sufficiently large executive room, with a double bed with comfortable pillows, and a sofa bed, which can be easily opened/closed, for three people, equipped with a 55* smart TV with Rai and pay TV channels, courtesy line, bathrobe, slippers, free bar (water, drinks and snacks) also equipped with Nespresso capsules/infusions, kettle and coffee machine (certainly better than the one served at the dispensers in the breakfast room). I made use of the gym, large with some equipment and cardio machines, nothing special! The strong point is the location, the Hotel is almost always manned by security guards and is just a few meters from the Metro!! it overlooks a modern square not accessible to cars, and therefore very quiet despite being close to a large station!! Breakfast, paid separately, around 20 euros per adult, is really worth it! during the summer period breakfast is served until 11 and really offers a large quantity of dishes and hot and cold drinks!!!! The bathroom, exposed with modern darkened glass, is equipped with a large shower and sink; apart from the toilet compartment, without bidet!!! Expensive (around 300 euros per night for two adults and a girl including abundant breakfast in high season) but certainly worth it for centrality and services. Finally, I would recommend greater attention to customers, who often are not welcomed unless requested. Undoubtedly recommended

Location is excellent, right next to Gare de Lyon, exit Hall 3 and turn left. Staff are very customer friendly, a very nice welcome at reception, the housekeeping very friendly, and the restaurant staff very helpful and welcoming. The room was well equipped, and well sound insulated with no noise at all from the street or other rooms (we had a corner room on the fourth floor). Breakfast was plentiful and with a good selection. There is also a heated swimming pool, and with 3 windows below water from which you can look out to the street outside. This is now our number 1 choice for a future trip to Paris.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
A very well renovated hotel (a flat for the glass between the bathroom and the bedroom, when one is 2 and one gets up at night, it automatically wakes the other), well placed, soundproofed, comfortable. But the breakfast is not up to it: no orange juice (and it lasts, already in November), exotic products but only one cheese (we are in France, the country of cheese), only 2 types of bread but piles of cakes. At the cost of breakfast, though, it's unforgivable. Also: a person at the reception, not a beginner: I have rarely seen so unpleasant in a hotel, little respect for the client.

we had a family visit for kids holidays so we could show kids the city and some key landmarks. this place is a disaster - i would advise not to waste your money here. poor quality rooms, even if you pay more you get same size!!! so whether you are two or four people it’s the same size!!! on top of it they provide 1 bottle of water for 4 people including kids. the duty manager flatly refused to provide any more water!!! parking is no go - if you have a mid size vehicle forget it. there is no staff at entrance to help you offload your stuff and inside as well. no concierge just one reception desk.

Dear simplyvishal, Thank you for taking your time to share with us your feedback. We are sincerely sorry you were disappointed by your stay with us and called it "a disaster". Indeed our rooms are the same size as it is written on our websites. The difference is in the equipement and services provided in the rooms. Regarding the only one bottle we do appologize for this matter. I wish you a lovely day, Léa, Community & Quality Manager

I don't recommend it, we stayed with our family for a few days to visit Paris. I have a child who is allergic to dust and we always carry with us special sheets and pillowcases with which we cover the child's bed, which are very expensive. When redoing the room the sheet was taken away and not returned. The first time something like this has happened to us. The hotel's response is that it is not their responsibility.

The room firstly was cramped as all the space was taken up by the bed and sofa/bed. I put a do not disturb sign but they still entered and touched all my personal belongings and make up which I’m very particular about as I have very sensitive skin. I made a complaint but all they said was it won’t happen again. The swimming pool shower only had cold water and there were no hair dryers and no showers in the women or men’s changing rooms. I complained and again nothing was done as again the following day the shower was still cold! The soup they served was stone cold even though they supposedly heated it, I didn’t complain as it was nearly midnight! However I did say so in my email. They now are offering me 100 loyalty points! Why would I care about being loyal when my experience was not great and they aren’t trying to put things right? Instead they are just being disrespectful and difficult. They lack empathy and think it is not their job to be polite and respectful! They have a very aggressive tone in their emails and somehow think people are going to come back and be loyal to their hotel?! Undoubtedly the worst in dealing with customers feedback! I have stayed in other hotels around the world and when something hasn’t gone right they have acknowledged and gone above and beyond to put it right

Dear 669indiram, As we have already exchange together and with my colleagues by mail we are not going to tell you here different things we said previously. You tried to blackmail us by menacing to put a review if we did not refund you, I do think that this behaviour is disrespectful. We recognize our mistakes(below) and we appologized for them. That is what we could do after your stay as during your stay we were not aware of the different problems mentioned. We offered you loyalty points that you could use in every ACCOR hotels not only us as we explained you by mail. By re-reading our mails we have always been courteous in every single one, you on the contrary forgot to say hi, thank you and all the politness words that anyone expect in a mail. Addressing your complaints, we present you our sincere apologies regarding the do not disturb sign because the procedure is not respected if it was at your door. We will sensitize the team regarding this topic because guest privacy should be respected. Regarding our swimming pool, we are sorry for the problem you mentioned about the cold water. Indeed, in our changing room we do not have showers or hair dryer facilities as you have both in your room. Concerning your experience at the restaurant, we regret that you did not signal them that the soup was cold, we would have corrected it willingly. We are very sorry for this experience and we will share it with the restaurant manager. We recognize our mistakes but they do not qualify for a refund, which is why we've offered you €100 in loyalty points. We wish you a lovely day, Léa, Community & Quality Manager

Worst hotel experience, don't recommend for anyone to stay in that hotel.
The room was dirty, tight and smell bad, cleaning services are horrible. They don't change beddings. Unprofessional rude staff.
We had an incident there, the cleaner came into our room and scatter all the garbage around just to get extra charges for cleaning, so whoever want to stay there make sure you take photo for your room before you leave it.
All in all, very bad experience maybe the only good thing about this hotel is its location next to the train station.

Dear Ranab562, I am really surprised by your comment. The event you describe is unlikely to happen. Our cleaning team does not scatter garbage around the rooms for fun or to had a small extra charges. Furthermore, for the stay above 2 days, our team changes the beddings at least every two days. If you have any kind of cleaning problem during your stay the best is to reach out to reception directly. I wish you a lovely day. Léa - Community & Quality Manager

Well placed and comfortable but lamentable welcome. At 11 a.m. no room available except with surcharge. To access luggage storage , sort bags on the floor and not on shelves. No entry into the premises in the morning, the opposite in the evening with another colleague. The minimum of even commercial consideration for customers was absent and unworthy of a 4*.

Hotel very well located near the Gare de Lyon. The lobby is spacious and allows you to have a drink or a lunch break, the little extras include the Kids area and the indoor swimming pool for a family stay, without forgetting the beautiful gym on the 3rd floor. As for the rooms, certainly the hotel is no longer very young and you can, if you absolutely look for it, find some flaws linked to age but if you simply let yourself be carried away by the moment then you have a very nice experience which has was my case. Little attention in the room, nice size for this range of hotel, spacious shower and the little extra the terrace which I was even able to enjoy in this month of November. As for breakfast, it's varied and corresponds to what you generally find in Accor's midscale range. I recommend for a solo or family stay. Special mention to Maguette for the welcome and management of the reservation.

We have a pressing in our establishment which is at extra cost. You can ask for more information at the reception on arrival.
However we don not have a coin lundry in our hotel.
