We'd booked two nights and our reception was welcoming and friendly. Travelling with my wife and two young children, one child in bed, one in cot and me on the floor. Unbelievably cramped, some of the lights did'nt work and the ones that did flickered on and off. Paper thin walls with very little soundproofing, almost seemed that other guests...

We stayed at this hotel for 5 days in May, and would not go back. The room was terrible - I was there with a friend so we had requested a room with 2 beds. We got 2 beds, but one was just a cot! I got the cot, and my back was aching after the first night. As for...

My family and myself have stayed at this hotel at least five times now and we have no complaints. If you want a bustling metropolitan hotel with every imaginable mod con at your finger tips then this hotel is probably not for you. The hotel is quaint and very old (one of the oldest in Paris) and is run by...

We booked the 'Luxury' attic room for a week-end in June 07 at 250 euros per night. We had to climb a very tight staircase before reaching the lift on the first floor (the smallest lift I have ever seen!) the lift only went to the 4th floor and we had another staircase to climb before reaching our room. The...

This hotel is NOT for everyone. There is a tattiness to it that I was (slowly--very slowly) charmed by. It is an old crooked building with windy, crooked stairs, the tiniest crooked elevator I have ever seen (and this is far from my first trip to Europe), a crooked little breakfast room that's actually just a nook off the crooked...

A friend of ours recommended the Hotel de la Place des Vosges more than 10 years ago, and we've stayed there several times since. But it's getting harder and harder to get a room there, as it's becoming more well known. No longer our little secret in Paris! We enjoy it because it's not a chain, and it's in a...

+ location, Paris and Marais itself are wonderful, but there are plenty of other hotels around. Now I know why all others were fullybooked one month advance.. - all the rest Madame, I think owner of the hotel, tried to get extra-money with all possible ways (for example without caring about confirmation, proposed loft for the last night and had...

Plusses: Great location; in the middle of the Marais but very quiet. Nice design. Very friendly and helpful staff. Minus: Really small room. I know it is normal in Paris, but this was really small. Will go back for short trips (3-4 days). For longer stays you need something with more space!

We have stayed here 3 times now and will always return. It has far more character than most larger hotels but if you want a large foyer with a bar it's not for you. It's perfect for a weekend but I admit that the rooms are too small for any longer. Those overlooking the street are more interesting and it's...

Staying in Le Marais

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Marais
The Marais is a winding maze of multi-faceted streets that beg to be explored. It bursts with small boutiques, historic buildings, cozy traditional restaurants, and hidden parks. Around each corner, you'll come across little gems of architecture spanning the centuries, from understated medieval towers to classical libraries and 17th century splendour. This neighbourhood unites a rich mix of people of all ages, but it's best known for the gay scene mostly in the south and the Jewish community around Rue des Rosiers.
