This has become my go-to place in Paris. The rooms are bigger than average and the bathroom, likely recently renovated, is downright spacious with full-size tub and separate shower. "Courtyard view" is a bit shabby but spells quiet in a wonderfully busy neighbourhood.

The hotel is located a couple of streets up from the Boulevard St Germain and close to a few metro stations on the useful lines 4, 10 and 12. So you can easily get to where you want in Central Paris. Line 4 takes you directly from Gare du Nord main railway station (Eurostar) to the St Germain metro which...

If you like the predictability of large hotel chains, Hotel du Danube is not for you. This place is full of quirks but ultimately very charming. This was my second visit and I spent two nights there. The location is amazing and rue de Jacob is particularly nice. The rooms are smallish but tastefully decorated with some period furniture. The...

No apologies for reviewing the Danube again - I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Paris - brilliantly located for Museums and super shopping....... This time our trip was unfortunately cut very short - but still managed a great sleep! Staff as always charming and very welcoming - hopefully back again in the autumn.

I chose the Danube based on Trip Advisor reviews which talked about generous room size ( for Paris). I booked on their website because that was advised, and I got what they advertised as a discounted March rate including free breakfast. When I received confirmation, the room size was quoted as being 12m square. Alarmed, I wrote an email immediately...

Dear guest, It is particularly frustrating for every single member of my team and for myself to read your review following your recent stay with us. Although all feedbacks are welcomed and we do of course highly respect all opinions, we think your review simply does not reflect the service standards we are offering at Hotel du Danube. I personally...

This hotel is fine - no reason to avoid it - but I don't understand previous five-star reviews. The bedroom and bathroom are small by N Am standards, and in line with Parisian ones. The bed was horridly hard. The shower had good water pressure with lots of hot water, but no fixture for the shower head, so you could...

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to write this review as we do welcome all feedback but I am very sad to hear that your overall experience is not all good contrary to other guests. We are offering many different categories of room at Hotel du Danube and they are all different in terms of size, view, bed,...

I have just returned from spending a week at the Hotel du Danube with a childhood friend who had always wanted to visit Paris. I had stayed here before, but some years had passed since the last time. The hotel has the perfect location, being located just off Blvd. St. Germain, directly across the river from the Louvre, and between...

We spent the weekend in Paris arriving on the Eurostar from London. The hotel was very easy to locate from Saint Germain des Pres station which is on line 4 from Gare du Nord. Upon check in we were thrilled to receive an upgrade to a Prestige room. A wonderful surprise and very appreciated. The room was spacious, very clean...

Highly recommended smallish hotel. Perfect for a weekend in Paris! Nice, modern refurbished rooms in which everything works. Attentive, helpful concierges. Fine breakfast. Convenient location (easy walk to the Louvre and Musee D'Orsay). Close to many pleasant neighbourhoods with nice shops and restaurants. We went off-season and received favourable pricing, so we believe it was quite good value. Our room...

It was my second stay and again I was so happy to be there. Central location within walking distance of almost everything. Staying in Saint-Germain-des-Pres

Neighbourhood Profile
Saint-Germain-des-Pres
In Saint-Germain-des-Prés, life is effortlessly chic and all things are beautiful. The main boulevard is dotted with famed terraced cafés, haut-couture shops, ivy-covered railings and fine-dining restaurants. Antique dealers and art galleries surround the fine art school and small museums hide in unassuming squares. The neighbourhood’s namesake church is the oldest in Paris and is the backdrop for talented musicians every weekend. The Luxembourg Gardens house the national senate, splendid lawns and flourishing flower beds. Famous faces and bourgeois Parisians frequent Saint Germain accompanied by the students of Rue Saint Guillaume and Rue des Saints-Pères. This is a neighbourhood where afternoon people-watching from a café or playing cards in a brasserie are a key part of the daily fabric.
