We stayed a week at the Holel L'Esperance in April and could not have been more pleased. On the 5th floor our sunny room was large by Paris standards with a beautiful half canopy bed and two windows overlooking the rooftops. The hosts and staff...More

What a pleasant surprise. A real jewel, nice quiet street, too. Good bargain, friendly staff - I intend to stay there whenever I'm in Paris.

This hotel was a great surprise. Very clean and well equipped...hair dryer, shower, clean towels and friendly service. The breakfast room was charming and the breakfast was perfect. The location is nice as well...on a quiet street yet close to everything. Great rates.

I spent three nights at this wonderful hotel in April. The room, decor, bathroom and our balcony was simply fantastic - it was so cosy - a home away from home. Breakfast was simple and typically French - fresh croissants, cafe au lait and newly...More

Does anyone remember the Hotel de l'Esperance on rue Vavin - next to Hotel Danemark? Very cheap place with only a few rooms - they turned it into apartments so it's no longer there. I lived there for several months in the 70s and there were some interesting people - expats who hung out and drank at the Select. Any memories or photos anyone would like to share?

Hello, I don't think our hotel is related to this place, but I'll ask the old owner if she knows something. It might take some time. Do you have the name of the owner in Hotel de l'Esperance rue Vavin?

Has Madam Helene and her husband retired or sold the Hotel? Many years ago when we were staying in San Malo, the proprietor asked us where we were going to stay in Paris. When I told him he said "phew, you must stay with our friends, so I will call them" we protested but he insisted and and that began our love affair with Hotel de L'Esperance. 8 times, I believe. We found the hotel perfectly managed, always spotless and such a quaint place to stay. Madam Helene was always dressed to the 9's even at 6 am. The star system in France depends on dimensions among other things, and Hotel de L'Esperance is only a few cm's away from 3 stars. At under 100 E for their most expensive room, I think it is still a bargain. Our first stay cost around $50 USD a day. We are older and less mobile and stay longer so we use apartments now, but will always remember our days at l'Esperance.

Bonjour, Mme Hélène has retired some years ago, but her son Alexis is in charge now. So the hotel is still in the hand of the family. It has been refurbished recently. all the best Thomas
