We stayed hers from 14th - 16th October - we stayed here years ago also.We were meant to be getting a "deal" for 240 Euros for the two nights. The room was very poorly furnished and the beds vey close to the ground. The lighting was very poor and at night the room was cold as the heating want working. When...

Great place with the best desk clerks ever. Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful they made our visit so much better! Comfortable beds and within walking distance of Notre Dame, Pantheon, restaurants, and metro.

Front-desk people are great! Friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. The room was typically a small-ish Parisian hotel space; only complaint was that the otherwise comfortable bed was a bit low. Very quiet, even though it's in a busy Latin Quarter neighborhood. Half a block away is a vibrant farmers' market...just the right touch.

We stayed here during a hot couple of days in Paris. The hotel has recently been upgraded and the air conditioning was extremely welcome. The rooms are small but adequate and more than compensated for by the excellent location. Considering this the price is very reasonable for an expensive city.

This hotel isn't fancy. There isn't room service, and the carpet in the hallways looks a little worn. But otherwise this place is great. The wifi is reliable, the rooms are immaculate, the area is accessible and safe, the staff are friendly, the rooms are quiet at night, and there is AC. It's about a block from the metro. It's...

We have been going to this hotel for over 12 years and recommended it to many friends and family. This time we observed that they added air conditioning. Updated some bathrooms, painted the downstairs foyer, etc. Now their prices are up 30 percent. Their breakfast is generous with lots of fresh croissants and coffee. Our granddaughter, who speaks fluent French,...

The hotel room we requested with a balcony. It is near the Sorbonne in the Latin Quarter. There are nice restaurants and grocery stores nearby. The staff is very accommodating . On the day of our departure they made an early breakfast as we had to leave very early that morning. The breakfast was continental with delicious croissants. The price...

I stayed there for 2 nights in September 2015 and would be happy to stay there again. It is a short walk from the Maubert-Mutualite metro station and the neighborhood absolutely rocks (It is very easy to find from the station- just find the Rue des Carmen exit and follow the sign to the Pantheon). There are plenty of lively...

I had done extensive research and chosen another hotel ahead of Hotel des Carmes. However, the nights in July were unbearably hot. Unable to sleep in the sweltering heat, at about midnight, I recalled Hotel des Carmes was a few blocks away. On arrival there, I discovered that cool AC was available (and at a lower rate mind you) so...

Staying in Quartier Latin

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier Latin
The Latin Quarter bursts with intellectual life, architectural splendour and ongoing merriment. The small streets are filled with classical buildings, student bars and lively eateries while the squares are dominated by historic monuments. The area is defined by the 800-year-old Sorbonne University, where Latin once prevailed, and is famous for the Pantheon which celebrates the great men and women of France. During the day students rush from classes to the library and intellectuals people watch from the terraced cafés. As night time falls the surrounding establishments fill up and the merriment really begins. The liveliest parts are around Rue Mouffetard, lined with crêperies and international street food eateries, and Place de la Contrescarpe characterised by terraced brasseries, this neighbourhood provides real nourishment for the mind, belly, and soul.
