I say this without snarkiness -- but if you're a large/bulky person, be aware the bathrooms and the elevator are small. It's a charming place in a historic location, so it's worth the upgrade for a little more space.
Again, I could not recommend this place more highly. Looking forward to staying again upon my return someday.
This hotel is wonderful in every way. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The breakfast seems to get better every time we visit
The rooms are very well equipped, with provision made according to the seasons.
We are kept in touch by the staff via email so we can plan and make the most of our visit to this wonderful part of Paris and beyond.
We send you all our love and say lots of prayers that we will return in the Autumn.
Ian and Frances xx
This time I noticed a serious lack of cleanliness, in the middle of a pandemic. For instance the bathroom was not cleaned at all, the coffee making tray was covered in dust and the mornings dirty mug not replaced, and the throw pillows had obviously not been cleaned in a long time, judging from their smell.
The room was smaller than advertised and the empty fridge placed under the small table, while the only chair was blocking the window side of the bed.
The tiny breakfast room is so crowded you are nearky sitting in your neighbours lap
There are other hotels well placed with much lower prices so I don t think I will come here again.
My advice is to choose rooms carefully. My sense is that the more expensive rooms are a better bet and here is why. We books three rooms at about $152 per night, a fairly good rate even in shoulder season. Ourroom was pretty small, something to be expected in older European hotels. The size was not the issue. The problem is that there was no air conditioning or good ventilation. The room had a window which looked out into a relatively small open area. This may have been a courtyard at one time which had been filled in for additional indoor space the roof of which was almost even with our window. Our window had no screens and there was ample evidence of pigeons collecting in the open area. We were, therefore to leave the window open at night. As as result the room was very warm to the point of disturbing sleep even with a fan. It appears, from peeking into some other rooms that the larger, and I believe more expensive, rooms might have better ventilation.
Had we known about this issue we might have tried select the larger rooms. I would have liked to have given a better rating but the heat was too much to ignore.
The location is excellent, a short walk to the Metro (St.Paul on the 1 line), the bus, and necessary shops (bakeries, cafes, pharmacy, and grocery stores).
The hotel staff was friendly and professional, and very helpful with our getting our “anti-Covid” app validated, printing test results and other forms, and arranging taxis.
There are several good restaurants very close by: Salento (Italian) and Les Bougresses (French) across the street, and ChezJanou (Provençal) a few blocks away. Place des Vosges is just around the corner.
It’s a nice walk to Notre Dame and Central Paris too.
