I went with my friends for 1 night when we saw the reception we didn't want to check in but we took a risk and checked in because it was only for 1 night. At the end everything it was OK room clean, small but clean so overall for a couple of nights the hotel its OK.

Newly decorated hotel and lovely room. Close to the metro and eateries. Good value!!! However, the hotel is not located in a tourist district and it seems a bit unsafe at night in the area nearby. Not sure if it is true.

Dear Jason Thank you for your comment and to have chosen our Hotel for your stray in Paris. It's a pleasure to read that you liked our hotel, our rooms and the good value. The area is actually more and more touristic, you have the cultural centre the Centquatre nearby and the Canal and cultural centre of La Villette. Plenaty...

We stayed at Hotel Le Canal for Valentine's weekend. The receptionist, Anna, was delightful and couldn't do enough for us, she is definitely a major asset to the hotel. The hotel itself is well situated for the nearest Metro (Stalingrad), but not the place to choose if you are planning to do Paris on foot, as we had hoped to,...

As other reviewers observe, the hotel rooms are incredibly small. There's not much room to move around and very little space to unpack luggage. The bed and pillows were nice and the bathroom was adequately equipped. The location is probably the best part about this hotel. It's right next to the Riquet metro stop and about 20 minutes from the...

Budget hotel as many others in Paris. Not really much to criticize, but not much to rave about too. Maybe a smell coming out of the bathroom plumbing could be noticeable, but that may be not specifically a “hotel thing” as it could be common in this neighbourhood. Nothing really to be concern with. Good place to crush for a...

I was staying in Paris 3 weeks ago, at Hotel Le Canal. The hotel is just next to the Canal, where there are coffee shops, theaters, pétanque. Which was great to drink a coffee in the morning, and a fresh beer after work. Loved it.

Working in Paris early July and needed to find a hotel to fit a budget. Bit wary at first as it looks so small, but we were out every night, and only used the rooms for washing and sleeping, and they fitted this requirement admirably. Air-con in room is great, and, although basic, room has everything needed. Great location with...

This hotel leaves much to be desired. Online pictures is looks much more updated than it is. The reception and hallways are pretty run down. The room wasn't clean. The walls were filthy, bathroom sink area was dirty and under the bed was disgusting. There was zero hot water, and towels no when went to shower, because they were being...

This was our fourth hotel in a two week trip and by far the worst. Small rooms, low water pressure and located in a somewhat sketchy neighbourhood made for a less than comfortable stay. Having said this, the towels were large and fluffy, there were no bugs in my room as there were in one of my friends' room, the...

Stayed here a a chaperone for a travel group, so I didn't choose the hotel. The worst hotel by far that we stayed in during our two week European travels. Neighborhood is a little rough around the edges, room size was fine except for need to step over the toilet to get out of shower, hotel is on a very...

Staying in La Villette

Neighbourhood Profile
La Villette
This futuristic landscape has come to define the northeast of Paris. The Saint-Denis canal is framed with luscious lawns and metallic buildings over a wide-open space. Home to Europe's largest science museum, this area rewards daytime and nighttime explorations; there are three concert spaces, plus cinemas and bars, and even open-air cinema in the summer. The surrounding homes are a sharp contrast to the futuristic space. Though on the outskirts of Paris, La Villette is worth the short Metro ride from the centre.
