Detailed Reviews
I stayed in the female dorm. They do not care as much as to place even a simple fan in the room, considering that the room ventilation is totally poor because though the window is large, it is however restricted to open only a tiny insufficient bit - the apartment always felt very hot, sweaty and this made sleep hard. Moreso, it made the room stuffy with different kind of smell since there are no fan at least to regulate air in the room.
SOME of the reception girls were very dismissive. For example the very first day I came and was waiting at the reception to check in my reservation, I asked one of them a question, she did not let me finish before she looked me in a funny distasteful way and responded “what? As you can see I’m busy with something else”. She was turning water into a jug did not mean she could not be a bit welcoming or friendly. I just knew not to expect too much here. So I did not feel free to ask any more questions about some things I may need such as where to iron, or what fun place to tour, etc, but one girl was particularly nice I wish I had encountered her early enough or had asked her name.
About 10 apartments in my floor (floor 1) all share the convenience which has 3 toilets and 3 bathrooms. My room alone has 8 bed for 8 girls, now multiply that number for just one room to the about 10 rooms in floor 1 alone that share this toilet. For this huge number of users, the toilet should be maintained regularly and not just cleaned once a day. Many times when the water seems finished in the flush, hostellers are unable to quickly flush, so they abandon poop, pee and tissue in the toilet. More likelihood you will meet an unflushed toilet 4 out of 5 times. While it is not directly the business’s fault, they could do more to ensure water is constant in toilet, and maintain it at some point during the day. Also, They fill the bathroom with foam soaps rather than proper liquid wash. I have mine, but it’s just funny to find foam in a bathroom soap dispenser rather than actual liquid. Foam is for toilet, not for wash in bathroom.
Good Part Here
Good location, good security, safe environment, safe hostel, beautiful, clean rooms and hallways but the toilet is left at the mercy of hostellers. Superb buffet breakfast with lots of varieties to choose from which was yummy and affordable. Kitchen meals had discounted price for guests. Reliable WiFi network.
Thank you, but your guests deserve at least, a fan to regulate the air in this hot Paris summer.

Firstly it’s a hostel so there are multiple people to a room and it can be noisy. This should be expected.
St Christopher’s i found to be perfectly clean and the inclusion of a bar on the ground level is convenient for a beer when you get back. There are multiple screens showing sport which when j was there includes football and NFL
Each bed is allocated a metal cage to keep your belongings during the day and in the basement are lockers that can be used after checking out.
There is an option to add continental breakfast which is highly recommend. I opted for this and set myself up well until mid afternoon.
Lastly the location is slightly further out than some but is within 10 mins of the metro. If you are used to walking around cities this should pose no problem at all.
Overall i will likely stay here again when i return to Paris in the coking months.

The bed setup is good with its own luggage storage area. Has its own curtain for privacy which I like in a hostel.
Staff at the reception are approachable.
Even though it is shared as a sports bar downstairs, it was not noisy at night.
No free bag drop before when you check-in early, need locks for luggage storage in
your room.
Wifi doesn’t seem to connect properly. Maybe because i'm on the highest floor? I kept connecting through Holiday Inn.
Location is like a 20-30 min metro ride through main attractions.

I had two consecutive reservations at the hotel, so I had to check out of my room temporarily while waiting to check back in after 3 pm for my new bed. In the morning, a staff member from Venezuela kindly helped me store my luggage in the hotel’s storage room and gave me a passcode for the locker. I left for the city but realized I needed my jacket because it was colder than expected. When I returned to access my locker using the passcode provided, it wouldn’t open. The only option was to pay, which surprised me since I hadn’t been informed of any charges. I inserted €2, but the locker required at least €7 to unlock.
Later in the day, after some sightseeing, I spoke to a receptionist named PERCILA , who assured me the lockers were free for guests temporarily waiting for their new rooms. I explained that I had already paid €2.50 and asked for a refund, but she refused, claiming it was non-refundable. Her response contradicted her previous statement that the locker should be free, leaving me feeling frustrated and disappointed with the service.
On top of this, the toilets and hallways were not clean. Overall, I would not recommend this hostel.”

I checked into St. Christopher's Inn Canal on July 1st at around 9:30 pm. The receptionist, a friendly girl from Brazil, provided excellent customer service, making my initial experience very pleasant. However, as a former employee of this hostel, I was shocked by the behaviour of the reception staff the following day.
The attitudes of the two receptionists, one a skinny African girl and the other a stocky lady (apologies for the descriptors), were incredibly aggressive and unprofessional. I witnessed several guests having confrontations with them, to the point where security had to intervene. The level of customer service was far below acceptable standards.
When I requested an iron, their response was extremely rude, as if my request was an inconvenience. Additionally, when I inquired about the possibility of an early breakfast since I was leaving around 7:15 am, their immediate reply was a blunt "NO." Even when I asked about a packed breakfast, I received a dismissive and impolite response. Interestingly, on July 3rd, when I returned at 7:15 am, another receptionist and security personnel allowed me to have breakfast without any issue.
While I understand that hostels do not offer star-rated service, basic hospitality should be a given. Unfortunately, my experience felt more like being in a homeless shelter rather than a hostel.
I remember the days when Dustin Mills and Greg Welsh managed the hostel with great efficiency, supported by the exceptional Carolina and Camille. The current state of guest service is disappointing in comparison.
I hope this feedback helps improve the service standards at St. Christopher's Inn Canal.

We stayed at the hostel from April 24 to 26 as part of a school trip. We asked when booking that our students be spread over two floors (one for girls and one for boys) in order to be able to ensure supervision since they are minors. In the end, the teenagers were spread over 5 floors and we, the chaperones, were on 3 floors, which made it impossible to monitor all the floors at all times. We tried to change the situation with the people at reception but they were closed off and offered us the only solution to share our room with our students! We obviously refused and asked to speak with the manager, to which we were told that he was not reachable because he was on a plane (coincidentally).
On one of the floors, there was another school with adult students who were pushy towards our young teenage girls (aged between 14 and 15). They knocked on our students' doors when we were not there, shouted in the corridors after 10 p.m. and were disrespectful towards our female educational team. We alerted reception and security several times, but they did absolutely nothing. We were forced to camp out in the hallways until 1 a.m. to make sure our students were safe.
The only positive point was the evening meal because the kitchen staff (who were the only ones who spoke French) were understanding, warm, welcoming and fast. We thank them for their kindness and good humor. We also thank the security on the first evening who were kind and understanding.
Go on your way for school trips. The fault will always be placed on you and no conciliation will be possible. Total disappointment.

[1 night in an 8-bed women’s dormitory, €42 + €1 tourist tax + €2 deposit]
The staff was responsive when I encountered a problem with my room card which had not been activated.
He masters several languages which makes large numbers of arrivals/departures more fluid by facilitating mutual understanding, although the service can give the impression of being expeditious.
The presence of the security guard at the entrance is intended to be reassuring.
The establishment located along the Saint-Martin canal offers a pleasant setting, between the Zénith de la Villette and the Est and Nord stations, accessible in a few tens of minutes (especially on foot).
The layout is welcoming and functional. The room was clean and the bedding was of very good quality, with a curtain on each bed to provide privacy. The common toilets located in the corridors were also clean.
Pleasant stay, even for a single person.
P.-S. : I remain impressed by the lift bridge located right next to the hostel!

I’ve stayed at St Christopher Inn Canal in Paris in August 2020. It’s not far from metro and and attractions are easily reached. Views of the Canal are beautiful and morning coffee at downstairs bar terrace is a pleasant start to a busy day.. My room was clean, had towels changed and bathroom cleaned daily. All the precautions for Covid-19 are implemented. Hand sanitation stations are plenty,. Wearing face mask in downstairs premises is compulsory: bar, reception, cleaning team and security are wearing face covering at all times. The crew is very friendly and helpful, will go an extra mile to make sure they deliver excellent service.
Now, the only drawback is that there’s no small fridge in private en-suite rooms which is a complete disappointment. Usually August in Paris have a heat wave as this year too. The temperatures were reaching almost +40 C on the daily basis, the heat was unbearable . Of course there’s no air conditioning, after all it’s just a hostel. In such high temperatures not providing this little luxury for private en-suite rooms is a big disappointment. If you’re looking for a longer stay ie. up to a week or over during hot, French summer and you don’t mind any of the above mentioned then that’s your place. If you’re looking for short stay in a clean, friendly place near shops with great metro connections then this is a place for you too.
Btw my tv was broken, reception tried to fix it but sadly couldn’t. Would’ve been nice to watch a bit of news and metro at late night.

I recently had a highly disappointing experience with St Christopher's Inn Paris - Canal, which compelled me to share my feedback. After booking a stay with the hotel, circumstances changed, and I promptly requested a cancellation and refund within 24 hours, in full compliance with consumer protection laws.
Unfortunately, the response I received was far from satisfactory: the hotel proceeded to cancel my reservation without issuing a refund. This decision not only contradicted the regulations set forth to protect consumers, but it also left me feeling deceived and frustrated. The lack of transparency and failure to honor the refund rightfully due to me was deeply disappointing.
Moreover, the hotel's refusal to provide a clear explanation for their actions only exacerbated my dissatisfaction. It is disheartening to witness such disregard for customer rights and fair treatment. If the hotel was unwilling to refund the money, the booking should not have been canceled in the first place, as it gives the impression of unjustly withholding funds from consumers.
I believe it is crucial for potential guests to be aware of the hotel's inadequate customer service and disregard for consumer rights. I sincerely hope that the management of St Christopher's Inn Paris - Canal addresses their flawed approach to customer service and takes necessary steps to rectify this matter.

Hello Fabiano, As we have discussed in several emails, you chose a non-refundable fee when you booked online and that is why we are not able to refund you for the reservation you made. Furthermore, according to the law, those 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase in the EU do not apply to the tourism industry, which is why most hotels / airlines / train companies offer non-refundable fees. Your reservation was restored as you requested in an email. Please, do not hesitate to let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with. Have a nice day

My stay at The St Christopher's Inn Canal Paris was indeed a pleasure. Stayed here for 3 days and needless to say we were taken care of. Smallest of details and request were catered to. I would rate the hotel, its service and the staff 5 stars. Special mention for Lys at the reception was very polite and cooperative. Excellent service provided by housekeeping staff.
Focus on customer service and not just monetary value is what keeps this hotel distinct. Please keep it up. Thank you.

I went walking around the Canal around 1-2am and felt very safe. There was actually a fair few people out and about, socialising and chilling out near the water. I also walked around quite late around the Crimee station area (nearest train station) with my female friend and felt safe. However it doesn't matter where you are in the world, you should always be careful and have your wits about you when out at night =)
So late reply did u end up coming?
