We arrived in Loche without booking a hotel and regretted it. All the hotels recommended by the tourist office or seen on trip advisor were 2 stars. This hotel had a big room and great location and that's where it ended. The bed was very uncomfortable and gave both of us sore backs/necks. The shower/bathroom area felt like public restroom... If you plan on exploring the Loire Valley, this is an excellent home base. Also, in case you come from Paris and travel towards the South of France, I recommend this place for a one or two night stopover. The rooms are classic and I especially recommend any rooms that overlook the interior courtyard of the hotel. Breakfast and dinner... More

An old and ,traditional two star place, with private parking, in the centre of town, above a boulangerie/patisserie, a dream stop over to visit and learn about Jeanne d'Arc's episode in Loches, eat well and enjoy lovely, unpretentious French hospitality (2 stars, honest)... We've spent two days there for over ten years every year on our way to the South... More

Again we had a room with a balcony as seen in the picture above. However, the parapet has finally succumbed to old age in both rooms and no longer exist. These had been replaced by unsightly sheets of ply-wood so I would hope that this is only a temporary measure and that we were unlucky in our timing. The restaurant... More

Firstly I have to say I hate having to rate this hotel as just average. The owners were absolutely lovely and could not have done more to accomodate the fact that one of our party was coeliac. They provided some very nice gluten free rice cakes rather than just leave off the bread. We had to book one twin and... More

Shabby chic rooms overlooking a flowered and vined court yard, excellent beer and wine superb location with parking. Owners keen motorcyclists and extreamly helpful if you have any mechanical trouble. They organised a mechanic for some Irish guests who had a Vintage Motorcycle that had broken down.because the owner is a motorcyclist he was able to organise a mechanic even though... More

Stayed here for one night whilst touring the Loire area. This hotel has loads of character, but (as many of the other reviews also say) could do with just a little TLC. It doesn't need much - just some redecoration in the rooms, clearing away the junk from the back yard , a new carpet here and there, and it... More

We stayed here for one night on our way through France. The room itself was adequate for a two star hotel. Some re-tiling and decoration would not go a miss, but the room was comfortable and fine for our one night stay. The hotel is located right in the centre of Loches and even though the hotel car park was... More

We enjoyed staying here on our bike tour. The courtyard was the perfect place for an evening drink and the hotel has a certain run down country France charm. Breakfast was in the lovely dining room although we didn't have dinner. Our room was a large with a nice aspect over the courtyard. All a bit run down but helpful... More

The Hotel de France suited our needs for an overnight stopover in Loches on our cycle tour of the Loire just fine. The courtyard gave us a secure location for the bikes. The location is handy to a supermarket and is right in the old town. We'd been used to buffet style breakfasts so wandered in for breakfast without booking.... More
