George Sand Hotel's most interesting quality is their location on a beautiful little river which you can see in this photo. What they do NOT show you is that you are not allowed to eat on the river during the morning breakfast which you have to pay EXTRA for - you have to eat in an unattractive dining room and...

Stayed for two nights whilst buying wine in Vouvray & Sancerre. My second visit and I liked it better this time. Location is easy to find and close to the town centre and its varied restaurants, castle, nightlife if you want that. I ate at the hotel both nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. Breakfast was good. Staff attentive and speak...

Complelely agree with 'daviesbagrie'. Girl and older man at reception (owner?) indifferent, even when I showed them my sprained ankle and explained how difficult I would find the stairs. Some sympathy was all I wanted but all I got was a shrug. How different from our previous hotel where the owner got me ice and lent me a stick. Room...

Good clean place, plenty of parking and helpful people. If in the area would recommend and this would be the first place to check if available. The restaurant is excellent, get there early because the place filled up quickly. Menu is in french only and contains mainly local items, it was one of the better meals I had on this...

Our 2 friends booked this place as they had eaten there some years previously- and all 4 of us decided we would not be returning. Absolutely great location, restaurant overhangs river in charming ancient town but ...same owner, different chef probably, indifferent staff & bedrooms badly in need of refurbishment. We know they were only 60 euros per room but...

Located at the foot of the walled city, this two star hotel has many charms (if you are fortunate to have a room facing the river) and a night of noise and traffic if you are placed in any of the non-air-conditioned rooms facing the busy road that fronts the hotel. The rooms are very plain and spartan, but clean....

While not the fault of this hotel, Loches is an old city, and the hotel reflects it. It must be difficult to retrofit such older facilities. The spiral staircase upstairs might be considered quaint but I found it troublesome. The ceilings were low, the room poorly lit, the carpet shabby, and the beds only adequate. Any hotel with a bright...

My husband and I stayed here in 1984, had a great time, and decided to return for sentimental reasons. What a disappointment. We had booked months in advance and asked specifically for rooms facing the river side (one for us and one for his mom). They gave us keys to two rooms on the street side, both of them dingy,...

We stayed in this Hotel last September and again in June on our way back to the UK. Our room, which was better than last year and overlooked the river, The room had been refurbished and was simple, clean but well appointed. We had a hitch in that our internet booking through inter hotels had not been processed but because...

“Rooms at the back have a view over the river Indre”

“Rooms at the back would be much quieter and would have river views.”

“Always booked rooms facing the river and park. Room 9 on the first floor is of good size family room with a double and two single that you can join to make another double bed. The bathroom lacks proper shower as the shower is fixed 'below the knee' level. The drain cover in the bath didn't fit so we were not able to relax in the bath. Other than that, we had a restful two nights' sleep at this hotel. We would certainly come back again. ”
