As my wife has mobility difficulties, the hotel owner went to great lengths to ensure we had suitable accommodation, giving us a ground floor suite.
The hotel has a pleasant ambiance and is simply but comfortably furnished.
We asked for a taxi to take us to a restaurant across a river and when the owner couldn't get one she contacted her husband who picked us up in his own car and took us to the restaurant where he asked the owners to call him when we finished our meal and he would come pick us up! Impeccable service!
A great place to stay in this charming town.

Charming hotel in a bourgeois house, the rooms resemble rooms in the house, but all well equipped (comfortable beds, spacious bathroom...). A large free public car park is located in front of the hotel. Charming personalized welcome, the hostess is very pleasant. Only downside, breakfast a little light for a hotel of this quality

Very comfortable room with air conditioning (which was important in a heatwave) the manager was very helpful, the breakfast quite adequate and the position of the hotel is great in relation to the old town and fortress. The only blemish was the complete lack of response from a staff member when we arrived before 3 wanting to store our bicycles. Nonetheless I would still recommend the hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel. It is well situated in Chinon with free parking directly opposite in the square. The interior is very stylish and our room was modern and well equipped.
The breakfast room is very inviting and there was a very good choice of food including fresh croissants, toast, jams, cheese, ham, yoghurts, nuts, fruit, eggs etc and it is all beautifully presented in a nice airy conservatory.
The staff at the hotel are most obliging and speak good english.
Overall an excellent choice if you want a central hotel at a competive price.
To be highly recommended.

Hotel is totally outdated, worn down to the wire. just because you install a new hang oilite and renew a sink furniture does not mean you can start pretending that you can set renovated rooms. Beds ... probably come from some flea market ditto for the drained mattresses!!!
Noise from your best! is it not from the air conditioning is it from people who then take a bath / shower where the drains empty! is it from the night entrance. A quail of gate with a door embedded in it.
Breakfast is really minimalist.
Hygiene is substandard... had a stay of 4 nights and not once has been cleaned in the room let alone linen changed! towels are changed though. The garden is a real shame to show to the people.

The only positive thing to say about this hotel is ...
Super friendly people! Both in the hotel (reception) and in the adjacent hotel where the dining room is ... super friendly!!!

For us it is certainly not worth repeating.
For the area and sights TOP!!!

From the multiple signs warning that reception is closed until 15.00 to the scruffy patch of garden with dirty furniture described as ‘an enclosed garden by the manager in her best franglais - this is a place to miss when visiting Chinon. One set of The bedroom curtains revealed a breeze block wall and the bed mattress was lumpy and probably pre dated the building. The breakfast room was Butlins a la 1950 with dirty cups. Tea and coffee in the common area consisted of a large box of PG Tips , a kettle and some paper cups. I have tried to make this review light hearted but it was a struggle

Responded 30 July 2022
Hi, First of all, thank you for taking the time to visit our hotel and write a review about it. Positive as well as negative reviews help us to identify problems. We are very sorry to hear that your stay was disappointing. We are currently changing the mattresses of the rooms, and concerning the garden, our maintenance agent has taken your remarks into account. And for the franglais, we are trying our best to learn how to speak a proper english, but we are sorry for the possible mistakes. We wish you a good day and hope that you have retained some good points of your stay in our beautiful region.

This hotel is superb. It is well located and there is free parking just in front in the square.
The welcome was first class and the room very spacious and well equipped.
The breakfast served as a buffet in the conservatory had a wonderful choice of food and drinks including smoked salmon and home made fruit salad and cakes as well as pastries and a good selection of hot and cold drinks.
We ate dinner in the Bistro du Marche next door which had an excellent menu.
All in all a great hotel which we would highly recommend as you are very well treated and the facilities are all excellent.

I’m torn between adequate and disappointing. My room experience was absolutely disappointing, interior looked like from the 90’s and felt like it. An empty medium-size fridge was in the room … for what? To keep it running? What a waste and little consideration of electricity + at least with the current heat would I have expected for a 3-star (maybe more 2* B&B) a bottle of water in the fridge. Even if it costs. But there was no amenity, here is your room … live with it.
The staff was somewhat distant and living in their own world and rhythm (“don’t dare to interrupt me”), yet they were friendly and welcoming. I had a late night arrival and despite the advise in the booking when I arrived there was nobody. I was lucky and there was the chef from the neighboring restaurant (which I figured out all belong to the same owner), who called the owner who was than walking me through how to get my key. That was a shock at first, but friendly and helpful support. Maybe I had too high expectations … did I leave feeling bad: mmh, a bit yes a bit no. Would I go back …. Not at all. Spiderwebs in the room (framing it positively: they were good against mosquitos). Was there wifi (for free as per the prospect): yes. Did I find anywhere the credentials: no. Was I too annoyed to ask: yes!

Spotlessly clean room and bathroom, with bare block walls adding character.
Great AC. A very comfortable night's sleep.
In a good location. A short stroll to the town centre.
The owner advised us that parking our car (free) on the square outside the hotel was safe. The Gendarmarie is just across the square. Alternatively the hotel offers parking for €12. You can’t park on the square on market day.
Reception staff are excellent.
Be aware that most restaurants close on Mondays in Chinon. We ate at Cafe des Arts which we would definitely not recommend. On our way back from there we noticed that there was an open restaurant, three or four doors town-side from the hotel.
We would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Room was large with a separate seating area. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was well appointed. Nothing luxurious but very comfortable. The breakfast , while nothing unusual was very good Great coffee machine, croissants, meats , fruit etc. The location is directly across from a free parking lot. Restaurants in all directions. Perfect spot for daily trips to local Chateaus
