Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I have to say that I was rather underwhelmed with the room that we were allocated during our stay. The room looked nothing like the photos that are on the hotel's website. The wallpaper was very drab and the carpets were well-past their sell-by date. The bed was lumpy and the bathroom was cramped and dated.

I asked the receptionist if we could move into a room like the ones on the hotel's website, but I was advised that all the rooms were the same as the one that we were allocated. I felt deceived.

I expected rather more for the price that we paid. Needless to say, we won't be coming back.

Hot water problem...on four people 1only managed to shower.
No commercial gesture in the face of this problem. A lingering smell of cold tobacco throughout the room that is extremely unpleasant for non-smokers.................................

We booked a night with breakfast as part of a Smart Box.
Even before visiting the room we were asked to pay the tourist tax.
The room we had overlooked courtyard (view on garbage cans)
The room was very small, carpeted floor more than disintegrated (torn) the furniture of the room is far from harmonious and spartan, the sanitary facilities are not first youth and the bedding was not good.
The television remote was very dirty.
There is a lack of soundproofing compared to the other rooms and we heard, among other things, flushing.
We have not seen the other rooms but this one is really to be redone.
The only positive is the continental breakfast which was hearty and varied.

If I give this hotel one star it is only for the cleanliness and the welcome... on the other hand the 3 stars awarded to it should absolutely be taken away: the superior room that we had reserved was absolutely not soundproofed (we could hear the neighbor snoring, we were in his shower when he was taking it because the noise was so loud), when we went to bed we had the very unpleasant surprise of having a mattress that creaked at the slightest movement, the bathroom very cramped did not at all correspond to the criteria of a 3-star hotel, both by the size of the shower cabin and by the accessories that we should have found there: glasses other than paper cups, no shelves to put our things on ... Moreover, not even a bottle of water in the room, not a kettle to make tea or coffee, only an empty open fridge unnecessarily occupied the space...
Very unpleasant experience for sure...

For travelers who are afraid of nothing.
Cleanliness and hygiene leave something to be desired. The manager is funny and welcoming but when we pointed out how dirty the place was, he flooded our phone with insulting text messages. I took photos for booking, with whom we had made the reservation but he declared "no show of customers" to cancel the reservation. In addition to the dirt, the stairs are quite dangerous, the timer is short and you find yourself in the dark between two floors, the buttons are difficult to find.
The prices seem to be at the head of the customer: displayed 42 to XX on Booking.com he criticized us for having ourselves announced a different price then he asked us 57€ (if I was not clear in this message, it is also unclear in the manager's figures). The photos I sent to Booking have disappeared. They showed close-ups of traces of toothpaste or soap on the bathroom shelf, hairs in the shower, stains on the towels as if someone had wiped grease off their face. A good thickness of dirt and cobwebs on the shutter trays.
In short, unless you are an adventurer and are used to sleeping in high mountain lodges, I do not recommend this hotel.

The service was very long. 1 hour to give us the cards, several people to take orders. Finally, we had desserts from the children's menu which we canceled after 2.5 hours in total. Some people arrived after us and served before us because these people knew the boss.
Once it was time to checkout, fortunately we looked at the receipt because dishes had been added to us without us having ordered them.
Some bland dishes without flavor, tagliatelle if you are not hungry you can have them.

We will never come back and will not recommend it to anyone. To flee.

During a group weekend we slept in this nice hotel
Large room but unfortunately small bathroom. Perfect bedding.. hotel in the city center but very quiet. We had a very good night. The evening meal was excellent. Top notch and complete breakfast
What we especially appreciated was the welcome from the staff: very friendly and attentive to the customers. I recommend this hotel

So if you want to come there in the heat, remember to take a fan or simply don't go..
I arrive at reception. I had to enter the name of my company 3 times to be found.
Top floor without elevator and under the roof. I ask for at least a fan, nothing. I had to stay 2 nights out of professional obligation. The second night I absolutely had to look for a fan.
Plus having to sleep with the window open, but with the noise downstairs impossible.
Shower shouldn't be big, bed average. Avoid if you want calm and sleep well.

We drove from Cherbourg to the South & back, stayed in lots of hotels & Inns; this was the one I enjoyed most. Sparkling sunshine & flowery window-boxes helped. It's typically French; authentic & chic. We'd booked a room for 4, but got a suite, with 2 bedrooms, nice bathroom, a little lounge and even a kitchenette (useful for cheese, ham, tomatoes, baguettes & wine for lunch.) All for about £54. It's not a grand hotel, more an Inn. Our rooms overlooked the square (free parking) and when the market was on it was great to lean out and watch the hustle & bustle. Lively bar downstairs. Chinon is a lovely town. Hotel is on the outskirts, quiet area, but an easy stroll to restaurants & castle. Read up about Joan of Arc before you go, & ask for a room at the front.

We stayed in 8 different hotels whilst touring around France and this was one of the best, despite being half the price of some of the others. Our rooms in the modern annexe situated behind the older building were comfortable, clean and quiet. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly.
