Even with the windows closed the noise was still very intrusive. Because there is no air-conditioning and due to it being summer I needed to have my windows open to get some air.
I have sent two messages to the manager and not yet had a response.
Our room was clean and basic but very dark. However, it was not cheap - we were right over the bar and it was so noisy no one could sleep. It was also so hot that we had to sleep with the window open. When i asked for a fan no one could help me depsite my obvious distress that it was 11pm and my young children could not sleep.
this room should never have been sold for this price (220 euro) or indeed as a family room.
I do hope the manager will finally respond to this.
The bad-The other big bed appeared to be 2 twin beds put together with no memory foam topper and made my back really hurt. They definitely need to upgrade those mattresses or put memory foam toppers on it. The biggest problem with this hotel as other reviewers have said is the amount of tobacco smoke from the outside restaurant right in front of it that permeates right into the lobby check in area. People were literally smoking right at the tables close to the front door. We couldn’t leave the room windows open due to all the smoking outside. You could smell it in the hallway and stairs. The keycards kept getting deactivated so we had to get them re-activated. We didn’t see a water bottle re-fill station so my husband asked the lady at the bar for some water to fill up his bottle, and while she filled it up, there was definitely attitude. Adding a purified water filling station to the lobby would greatly reduce plastic bottle waste (and micro plastics). The breakfast for 15 euros a person was not as nice as others we’ve had so we bought breakfast at the bakery on the corner for significantly less. Finally, for families and travelers, they really need to add a mini fridge, coffee maker, and electric kettle. Not sure where parents would put baby food if they needed to refrigerate it. These are pretty standard items for most hotels that we have stayed at. My son only ate half his sandwich and it spoiled by morning as we had no fridge to put it in.
If health is a consideration, due to the smell of tobacco smoke in the lobby, stairs and hall, and area right out front with smokers, I would recommend another hotel. I did my best to hold my breath to not breathe in the tobacco smoke when entering the hotel, but since you have to move through the smoke to get into the hotel, it was not good for me or the family.
I completely understand that these things happen in the hotelier trade, however, I would also expect that no guest would actually have to pay for the privilege of sleeping in a bed full of bed bugs. My skin still crawls thinking of it!! They are now completely ignoring me which again shines a light what scant regard they have for their paying clientele. This hotel is one to definitely avoid.
