Detailed Reviews
We were a party of tree travelling together and booked into one of the duplex rooms. The rooms are not extra big but very functional. The staircase is quite steep but ok. The Airconditioning is perfectly positioned and extra silent.
We loved the location right in front of the sea and only a mere 20 minute stroll on the beach into the historical center of Saint Malo.
The breakfast was not exceptional but ok. The main issue is that the breakfast room is very small and at some times it really gets busy.
We used the hotel parking which is quite expensive at 20€/day.
All in all a nice location if you want to be close to the historical center and right on a beautiful beach.

The room was a bit small, but the second double bed was in an upstairs loft, which was great for our teenage kids. The view of the ocean was really nice. Breakfast was good; on Sunday extra helpings of crepes and French cake.
We had to pay for indoor parking, but the parking spaces are much too small, which made it extremely difficult to park.
Otherwise great location, a 20-minute walk along the beach promenade to the center of Saint Malo.

We stayed here twice recently and tried out two different room types. Our first night was in a standard room which faced a quiet rear street. The bed was huge and comfortable but there wasn't much space for anything else in the room. We had two big suitcases as we were travelling on for a week in Nantes and struggled for space in the room. We also had to ask for extra pillows as there was only one pillow per person on the bed. However, when we asked at reception it was not a problem and we were provided with them. On our second visit we paid a bit extra for a room with a view of the sea, which made the trip extra special. I couldn't stop looking at the view! Reception booked us an early morning taxi and when the taxi didn't turn up on time the night staff called up the company for us to make sure it was definitely on its way as we would have missed our ferry otherwise. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble and they were happy for us to speak in our less than perfect French, which was excellent practice for us. There is a bus stop right opposite for heading into Saint-Malo if you don't want to walk. Thank you to all the staff for their help et à bientôt!

I had the worst experience I have ever had.
I wouldn't stay again in this hotel and I would recommend to stay away from this place.
I booked a deluxe room for the price of EUR 199 per night with a sea view. I specifically chose this hotel as they were offering rooms with a beautiful sea view on the official website. The room which I got had a view on the huge public WC and road being reconstructed. When I asked a receptionist (Nina) to change my room, she refused. She was rude and arrogant. I spoke to two other receptionist and they were also unhelpful and rude. I asked them to change my room to other type/floor, they said they cannot offer any to me, but when I checked on their official site, they had plenty of available rooms. I asked to cancel my reservation (my reservation was allowing it!) and get reimbursed, they said that I can juste leave and that I won't get any reimbursement. I asked to connect me to the manager, and they refused so.
Also, for deluxe and superior rooms they say breakfast is included in the price on their official site, but when you check-in, they say it's not.
No one said 'sorry or they will check or try to find a solution'. On the contrary they just said, there is NO SOLUTION FOR YOU and YOU CAN LEAVE.

Dear Madam, We' re sorry that you did not appreciate you stay in our hotel Escale Oceania St Malo. The day before your arrival, you booked the last sea view "deluxe" room at the 2nd floor. Our team is really not arrogant, be sure. Indeed, The staff welcomed you and you checked in à 13.30pm instead of 15. This category "Deluxe" is usually very recommended by all our guests. You asked a refunding about 17 pm . For all the reasons, we refused a refunding of your stay. Best Regards

A lovely hotel with all the amenities you need. While the hotel isn't in the intra-muros, it's in the next best location - next to the plage de sillons. While we didn't get the sea view room, the beach is just a few steps away.
The service is generally warm. The rooms are very comfortable and of a decent size. We absolutely enjoyed the bed, and they provided Ritual bath products and complimentary bottled water. The hotel also kindly provided bedroom slippers on request.
It basically has all you need and can expect from a three star hotel.

+1
We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of August, along with our dog. The hotel is perfectly located on the seafront and is only a 15 minute walk into the old walled town. Please note: if you have a dog-they are not allowed on the beach between April & September. However, we went out early in the morning before any ‘officials’ were around to avoid being fined!!
Regarding the hotel: friendly & helpful staff, nice breakfast with an outdoor area so that dogs can join you. The underground car park is useful although it is expensive at €20 per night and the spaces are EXTREMELY tight so be careful when parking!

We stayed 2 nights in a 'Family Room, Sea View', which was well named. The room had a main level with a queen bed, then stairs up to a loft bedroom for the kids with 2 singles, their own TV, etc. As we were on the top floor, we had a great view of the ocean, as did the kids through a skylight which had powered curtains. Windows open which lets you hear the sound of the waves crashing into the sea wall across the street. Plenty of restaurants nearby in easy walking distance (less than 10mins), though many are busy so may require reservations.
Breakfast at the hotel was about 16 Euros per adult and had the usual hot and cold options, and was plenty for us.
The only downside, if you can call it that, was the tiny bathroom, which was fairly common throughout our trip, due to the age of the locations we stayed. But you really couldn't fit more than 1 person in the bathroom, which made for some congestion in the mornings, but definitely not a show-stopper! The toilet is in a separate (tiny) room from the rest of the bathroom, which I thought was strange...nice to have a sink near the toilet!
We saw very little of St. Malo, except for taking a walk along the seal wall to the walled part of the town and walked along the top of the wall, very cool. Otherwise, this was mainly a home base for us to visit Mont St. Michel about 45mins away by car, which is incredible (look it up!)...a must see if you have the time (and interest).
One thing the front desk likes to do is get you to pre-authorize them to bill you for things, like breakfast, drinks at the bar, etc. They insist they'll only bill you for what you use, and from what we saw, that's true. No extra charges that we didn't expect.
Thanks for a nice stay!

We stayed in a family loft suite which was ideal for our family. The room was good and clean. The location just across from the beach could not have been better ad Saint Malo was just a 15 minute stroll from the hotel. The breakfast was acceptable. All the staff we encountered were very friendly.

This hotel suited my 2 day stay.. as it was clean.. room was a good size. it was only me.. the bathroom also clean. with ammenities. which was great as most of the hotels in france I stayed at only had the combined shampoo/body wash...I was travelling on my own so the room was quite good. even for a couple it was big enough.. I was out most of the day so only really slept in my room it was clean and suited my 2 day stay in the beautiful St Malo.. the hotel is about a 10 min walk from the station and a 3 min walk to the old town.. I guess depends on how fast you walk.. The staff were very helpful and spoke english.. I didnt have the breakfast.. the hotel was accross from the beach and I found this cafe called Cafe Resto boutique.. great coffee. and lovely staff. I would recommond this cafe as well.
