We wanted somewhere with a view and an easy walk into the Old Town of Saint Malo, safe parking was also a criterial and the Mercure fitted our requirements.
We arrived on a warm and busy Sunday afternoon, we had arranged parking in advance directly emailing the hotel (they have an arrangement with the Ibis round the corner), but when we arrived there was street parking directly outside that was free which we used.
Some of the hotels in the centre of town feel a bit more claustrophobic with access and parking presenting a problem. We had been travelling for a month and had a lot of things in the car, but didn’t want to empty everything for just one night, we felt the car was safe on the street immediately outside.
The member of staff at reception was friendly and the check-in process was quick and within no time we were in our sea facing room on the second floor. He also helped with a restaurant recommendation and booked a table for us.
The rooms are not huge, but absolutely adequate. There was a kettle with some sachets of coffee/tea and a bottle of water. The bathroom had a bath with an overhead shower. It was well ventilated and bright.
The really star of the show was the fantastic sea view. We had the windows open so we could enjoy the sound of the waves below and we loved the views towards Île de la Cézembre, Fort de la Conchée and le Fort National.
The Seaview rooms get to experience spectacular views of the sunset. In the morning were were able to watch our ferry coming in - good to know it was on time.
Although there is a road directly outside it was not busy at night and we were not disturbed by the any traffic noises.
It is a 10 minute walk into the old town from the hotel along the seafront. St Malo is busy, so worth doing your research and maybe booking a restaurant in advance.
We were only here for one night, but if you have time, definitely walk along the seafront and/or beach and explore the old town.
We decided not to have breakfast which is served on the ground floor, instead we found a local bakery and sat on the beach with a croissant and coffee.

This hotel is very well located, facing the sea and a few minutes walk from the historic center of Saint-Malo.
We had a renovated room, full sea view, with an upgrade which made us very happy. Thank you so much.
The suite was very bright, comfortable (mini-bar, coffee machine, kettle, safe, etc.), with excellent bedding, the best we have had in an Accor hotel of this category: super comfortable mattress, light duvet and soft, pillows firm and soft at the same time, frankly we slept excellently well. And when you see and hear the sea from your bed, it's really great...
What could be improved: not enough room to store clothes, for our 7 night stay, as there is no dresser or shelves, and not all clothes can be arranged on hangers. It's not a big deal, and certainly not bothersome for people staying one or two nights.
The bathroom is not very large, but functional, with very popular Nuxe hygiene products. There are no towel racks and hooks, especially if you want to dry towels in order to reuse them and thus save water. The shower gel holder needs to be fixed/screwed to the wall (fell twice).
Breakfast is varied, with sweet and savory options. The downside is that it is always the same, so after a few days we preferred to have breakfast in town.
The quality of the bread (2 types) could also be improved because we found it a little dry. We would have preferred to have a “citrus press” machine to be able to enjoy freshly squeezed orange juice.
The hotel is under construction, but we were not disturbed by any noise. Just a little surprised to see workers working on a basket, in front of our window, for 2 days.
There is private parking nearby (shared with the Ibis hotel) at €15 per day.
The hotel also has a small sauna (which we didn't have time to try).
What was remarkable is that all the employees, and the director, are very kind, attentive, attentive, and really care about customer satisfaction. We thank Louis, Charles, and Sylvain, for all the attention, and Mrs. the Director, for having taken care to contact us, before our arrival, to ensure that the layout of the room suited us.
All the attention exceeded our expectations and, as a result, we would have liked to be able to give a rating of 4.5/5.
In conclusion our stay was very pleasant, we keep this address as a safe bet (because the hotel will be even prettier after the work) and we will not hesitate to recommend it.

The hotel is right in front of the beach and a short walk to the walled city. Parking on the street in easy and cost is very reasonable (night parking is free).
COULD BE BETTER: the temperature in the breakfast room. Way too cold!

We stayed here in early July and were looking for a room with a nice sea view and within a short walk of the old town. The Mercure met both needs very well. Check in was straightforward and the receptionist friendly and helpful. Our room was on the second floor and whilst there was no balcony, the double doors opened inwards and it was just lovely watching the sunset from there. The old town is about a 10/15 minute level walk. The only slight downside is no hotel parking, although that having been said we found some street parking quite easily which you pay for at pay stations and it worked out at less than £5 for about 24 hours.

Disappointed by our stay at the Mercure seafront in Saint Malo on the Ascension Bridge, even though we had reserved the privilege room.
Apart from the sea view and the good condition of the recently restored building and rooms, it does not live up to the expectations of a four-star hotel.
Impossible to reach by telephone the day before our arrival, our call was switched to the platform which assured us that we could have parking. Which was not the case because there are only 5 places and it was full the day we arrived.
The welcome was not very warm.
In the prestige room: no bathrobe or slippers which we had difficulty obtaining the next day.
No room bar, not even a bottle of water.
No air conditioning; 23 to 24 degrees at night!
The toilets are in the bathroom which is tiny and everything is glazed workshop style! Aside from a curtain that obscures the view of the room, anyone entering can see you on the throne. Surprising the choice of aesthetics over that of intimacy! Nothing to hang towels or clothes on.
No samples except the shower and hand gel dispensers.
Poorly designed wardrobe: dresses lying on the hard-to-reach trunk at the bottom.
No other storage.
When cleaning, the tea is not refilled and the cup is not washed. When I ask the cleaning staff for another cup, they tell me to go get one from the kitchen or wash it myself; We're not in a youth hostel after all!
Finally the breakfast is ok but poorly replenished, you have to ask; no fresh fruit juice, the buffet area is poorly thought out, too small.
Finally, it is regrettable that this hotel has no exterior.
Beyond the fact that my gold status was not taken into account at all, I also had to request the drinks offered; the service leaves something to be desired.
The excuses given: recent work and lack of staff leave us with a negative impression.
No need to answer that customer satisfaction is your priority and helps you improve your services because some of my comments have already been mentioned by other customers.

Hotel very well located to discover Saint Malo
We had booked a room for 3 people (which has just been tastefully renovated)
The room was a decent size for spending a night. We had a bed for 2 people and one for 1 person. But this bed is really just right in size.
We had a beautiful sea view through the skylight (top floor)
The shower room was spacious but lacked hooks to hang wet towels and clothes. Very few shower products available but of good quality (nuxe)
A small fridge could be made available in this category of hotel
As for breakfast, the price being 20.00 euros, the choice is a little tight for our taste
A larger choice of bread and fresh fruit, cheese etc. would be appreciated
We are more used to staying in ibis or ibis style (but no triple room available in Saint Malo on these dates) and their services are largely equivalent or even better than this hotel

Location was great. (And this is the reason why I give it 2 stars but not 1)
Room was below average: the worst of Mercure that I have ever seen. It is not better than any Ibis. And the room was still dirty after cleaning (see pictures). Air-con doesn’t work properly.
Service was a disaster: it is incredibly understaffed during the august high season. There is often a queue on the reception desk. The receptionist is also the bar man/women. It seems that there is no additional staff outside the breakfast time. If you have any questions/requirements for them, you can expect the answer: “no, I can’t/I don’t have time/we don’t have this”. Staff just ignore you when they see you.
Facility is a disaster: 1- they often claim that they have a parking shared with Ibes, in reality, they only have 5 spaces and no one get parked there (wondering if their staff uses the parking personally?). 2- no restaurant/dinner
They treat Accor members as a s**t: as we were not happy with the room so we mentioned “we are gold member with Accor, is there anything that you can do?”, the receptionist cut us off by saying “there is diamond member staying here and we can do nothing for them”.
Overall it is the worst experience I have ever had with Mercure or Accor in general (as Ibes is better than this Mercure). Anyone should avoid this hotel to save your holiday. Any average hotel/Airbnb would work better.
The booking is not under my name, if Accor want to investigate further, we can share the booking detail.

Cordialement. La Direction

Chaotic late arrival on Friday evening for a weekend in Saint Malo. We had rarely seen this, after more than 20 minutes waiting at 1am (and after 4h drive) for the previous guest to manage to get the keys to his room (the receptionist being new ... "for about ten days" and obviously not really mastering the operation of the software and the Inn). All this to finally simply give us the keys in less than 3 seconds, without a word about Breakfast services and times.
Thank you for the nice upgrade of the rooms with the loyalty card (which we discovered during the possession of the rooms .. a little word from the receptionist would have been nice to tell us, it would have explained that our rooms were 2 floors apart while we had booked two months ago on the same Reservation). Very good bedding but medium finishes (rooms start to age) and rooms are cramped (bathroom, even worse...). Beautiful sea view that compensates everything!
No welcome attention in the room with the loyalty card.
Housekeeping friendly, discreet and very efficient.
Breakfast in room-service and quality room. Mercure standards are respected and the place is nice, the Breakfast staff is just as nice. Quality cheeses, several fruit juices, madeleines, pancakes, etc...
Welcome drink at the bar in the image of the arrival, quite lunar! With a certain nonchalance you are told that it is service at the bar because "there is no bartender". All right, we take the card and go straight to order (we had the table right next to the reception - which served as a bar -). The receptionist (whom I will not call bartender) tells me that he will put the glasses on the counter and that I must come to collect them (1.5m from the table...). There's nobody at the bar, nobody at the front desk. We laugh at it and we do it. Not very classy service level.
The worst being that a few minutes later, the next two tables were allowed a table service, with a few little things to snack on! This difference in treatment is difficult to understand.
Easy, professional check-out without any difficulty!
The Inn is very well located, facing the sea, about ten minutes walk from the historic center. The location makes it an ideal Pension! A small improvement in the services and behavior of some employees is to be reviewed for a perfect experience! A little too bad!

Hotel is in an excellent location and the staff was friendly and helpful. The staff we interacted with spoke acceptable English. We needed a triple and this was one of the few options that was anywhere near the walled city area.
The hotel has elevator service for all but the top floor...which is where the two triple rooms are located. So, please keep in mind that you will need to haul luggage up a flite of stairs. Also, pay attention to the skylight. that's you're only view of the water. As long as the weather is acceptable, make sure you open it up and get some air and you can look through it.
We enjoyed our stay, but I probably wouldn't wish to stay in the room for more than 2-3 nights.

We didn’t expect anything very luxurious but at least a clean room with good location.
The location was great - 5 minute walk from the center, however there was mold around the windows, hair on the bed and a water bottle from the guest who slept there before. When checking out we mentioned it and were given a small discount….however this should really not happen.
Also, if you are not a fan of really hard beds don’t expect to sleep well.
