Detailed Reviews
We stayed for one night mid-week whilst passing through St Malo, opting for this very central hotel within the ramparts to maximise our limited time. We booked a standard double room. The room was small as expected, but clean, comfortable and modern. Our only issue was that the bedroom was a little hot (no air con) so we had to open our window - the bar across the road was noisy which did disturb us. As we only stayed one night I can’t comment if this is normal.
The hotel staff were polite and the reception modern and inviting.
My only constructive comment for the hotel (aside from a polite word with the bar across the road) would be to replace the corridor carpets which have a lot of stains.
Overall, I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

+1
We stayed at this hotel last summer and returned again this summer, which I suppose is a form of recommendation in its own right.
The location of the hotel is extremely convenient. It is right in the middle of the Intra-Muros district, with a Carrefour supermarket, a bakery and a range of bars and restaurants all in easy walking distance. It is also close to the bus stop, the port (a 10ish minute walk), the tourist information centre and a number of attractions.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful and friendly. They are able to give discount vouchers for a range of local attractions, including the aquarium and the micro-zoo. Check in and check out were both quick and easy.
The rooms have been recently renovated and all seem to be nicely decorated with comfy beds. There is quite a lot of variation between the rooms in terms of size, with some being much, much bigger than others. On this most recent occasion, we had reserved three rooms and one was considerably smaller than the other two. The other two were very, very spacious indeed, so there is an element of luck of the draw here. There is also some variation in facilities, with some rooms having a ‘fancy’ rainfall shower and others a much more basic shower. Some have Juliet balconies and others do not have a balcony at all. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, which can lead to them becoming a little stuffy on a particularly hot day. Night life seems to run fairly late in Saint-Malo, but the soundproofing on the rooms is surprisingly good and with the windows closed you hear very little noise from the street. If it is a hot night and it is necessary to have the windows open, it is likely that you will hear some noise from the surrounding streets.

The rooms are large and comfortable (bedding, shower, lighting, etc.). However, it is better to ask for a room at the back, the two streets are noisy, you have to close the windows even if it is hot. The closing of the bedroom doors is very loud.
The breakfast is very good (scrambled eggs, fruit salad, good muesli, good honey and jams, etc.). Only the bread really leaves something to be desired, the baguette probably reheated, it's a shame, there are delicious bakeries in St Malo, notably the one in the cathedral.
The staff is helpful and smiling, at reception and at breakfast.
Note that the hotel receives many large groups. The wait at the single elevator, picturesque but tiny, can then be long!
A good address within the walls.

Lovely hotel in the old town of St Malo. Room was bright and clean. Good sized bathroom with plenty space for storage. Room had safe & tea/coffee making facilities. My only complaint was the mattress was a little hard for my liking. It also makes sense that if you provide teabags in rooms then you also provide guests with cups bigger than those for espresso! Staff sorted that without fuss tho. Staff were all very nice & friendly & the breakfast was good. I would recommend.

Good location hotel, comfortable, clean, price/quality ok!
This time I got the smallest room, with all the comfort and very quiet (located at the rear, with a view from the parking lot).
The mattress on the bed was very bad, narrow size (140cm?) very hard and curved, so that you rolled to the side, so you did not sleep very well.
We miss a boiled egg for breakfast, which was previously available!, now a scrambled egg is available in a bowl, but is beaten too frothy!
Croissants, chocolate cakes and brown baguette almost every day! Good coffee!
A freshly prepared egg on request would be advisable...

We have stayed at this lovely little hotel 3 times this year, travelling to and from Guernsey. It is extremely conveniently located in the heart of the touristy part of the old town, within the city walls (intra muros). The room rates are reasonable, the staff are very helpful, the rooms clean and breakfast adequate.
The only slight negatives are that the rooms are very snug, meaning you do end up tripping over your luggage. Also the trade off for the central location is that there is a lot of street noise at night - bring your earplugs! Finally there is no air conditioning which means that in warm weather the rooms can feel a bit stuffy.
All things considered however, we love this hotel and will continue to stay here whenever we are passing through.

After a long ferry trip from Poole, via Jersey, we arrived at Hotel des Marins at 11pm and had a very friendly welcome before retiring to very comfortable rooms. The hotel had recently been redecorated and everything was new and in good order. All facilities were provided, rooms cleaned each day and staff always friendly. We did not eat in so cannot comment on food. Very hot while we were there, no air-con and streets quite noisy if windows were left open. Otherwise a lovely stay and would come back to Hotel des Marins.

Hotel is centrally located; although there was no in-house parking , there was a public parking nearby (free from 7 pm). Room small, modern furnishings , very clean . Volume according to the central location sounds of passers-by , barely perceptible when the window is closed; breakfast good choice at the buffet

We have stayed at this hotel many times when it was the de Louvre and were looking forward to staying after its refurbishment.
We booked a Large Double. We had to ask for extra towels as there was only 1 small hand towel and 1 small bath towel. There was only 1 tissue in the tissue box. The room Safe was Low Battery and the staff couldn’t fix it. There was only 1 mirror, and that was in the bathroom and the English tv channels were unavailable as work was in progress. These were all small problems, but overall were disappointing.

Hotel very well located in intra-muros.all the touristic activities can be reach by foot. staff is kind.
Nevertheless, the room at the last floor (the 5 th) was small, no window in the salle de bains, lack of documentation in the room, the breakfast is composed of too much manufactured products.
