Our first stay at this Ibis Hotel which almost sits in the car park of the large out of town Madeleine Shopping complex. Given the location it is very easy to find and it is well signed if needed.
We had an early morning ferry crossing and switched to this hotel, simply because it was at €45, considerably cheaper than our usual hotel. The journey to the harbour took less than 10 minutes and again, was very well signposted.
For a trip like ours, or say a shopping trip, this hotel's position is perfect. However if you plan to explore the old walled city area and dine out there, you may be better staying closer, as parking can be an issue by the ramparts. In summary it is a long walk to the main tourist sights.
The hotel and room was both clean and quiet. The welcome we received in English was very friendly. There is no room safe, but they do have in room tea making facilities and adequate WiFi.
If you have time to kill ahead of the ferry crossing and are English speaking, the in room TV covers both French and British T. V., unlike our usual hotel. A chance to catch up on "Match of the Day", or even Strictly.
We did not eat at the hotel, but did have a drink at their small bar. Nearby is a
ubiquitous Buffalo Grill, where IBIS guests get a complimentary drink upon arrival. It is very popular, so be prepared to queue.
There was plenty of well lit free parking at the hotel which felt safe.
In summary, this hotel will probably become our hotel of choice for future trips.

At the start of the Covid-19 lock down, we stayed overnight here on our drive from Tenerife to the UK. We were supposed to be crossing to Portsmouth by ferry but the ferry was cancelled but that’s another story! The night we stayed was the night before the hotel closed at noon the following day. Although the hotel’s restaurant was closed the hotel was able to provide us with good quality ready made hot food which we ate in our room. We were grateful for this after a day’s drive. Breakfast was also collected from reception and eaten in our room. Breakfast amply set us up for our early start on the road to Calais. We were very thankful to the hotel staff and wish them well when they get back to work.

It was great! the room was comfortable and clean. The personal was friendly and helped us a lot. They also applied all the new regulations for COVID and we felt secure. It is also good that we found supermarkets, bakeries and bus station in just 5 min

I used the fast check in/out service where a credit card guarantee is given to be able to leave without a delay. My final bill was emailed to me overnight and on checking it quickly before departing I found that I had been charged for one breakfast (we were 2 in the room) at 10.50 euros whereas we had had no breakfasts. I complained to the receptionist who simply opened the till and gave me 10.50 euros in cash! This seemed odd to me. Furthermore, I asked to have a room on the ground floor facing the carpark and not the noisy roundabout. I was given first floor on the roundabout side. This is a hotel that does not seem to care about its guests and I will avoid.

I have always thought of Ibis Hotels as being quite basic and not somewhere we would want to stay but due to a late ferry this hotel seemed a good location for one night. I stand corrected this hotel exceeded my expectations. Axel on reception could not do enough for us and made checking in and and settling in with a drink extremely easy, despite the fact he had a lot of other guests checking in at the same time. He is a credit to Ibis for his efficiency and good humour. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed for a night's stay. Breakfast was plentiful and good value for money with smiling helpful staff. We will most certainly stay here again.

The room was clean and well prepared. It was far away from the city centre but it provided free parking which was secured. No comments for breakfast as it was not provided. Faced some problems with the magnetic key card - I had to go to reception every time to have the key reprogrammed. Stuff helpful and polite! Would recommend it for a nice, economic accommodation for a family.

I was very disappointed by the customer service I received at this branch of the Ibis chain. On arrival I asked if I could use an alternative card to the credit card I had used to secure the reservation. I was told it was not possible but confirmation from the manager after my stay confirmed that it was possible. I got the impression that the receptionist either didn’t know how to deal with my request or couldn’t be bothered. Her attitude didn’t really confirm the former! Then when my complaint was made to the manager no attempt to answer this or my other questions was made. I guess the receptionist takes her cue from the manager. Avoid this hotel until re training has taken place.

Very pleasant stay. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Staff very friendly and happy to serve drinks until quite late. Breakfast was plentiful with a large choice of breakfast items. We weren't the earliest down and the staff did not rush us in any way.

If you're looking for a cheap but comfortable overnight stay on the way to somewhere else, this place is excellent.
The room was a little small and quite basic, but it had a decent shower.
The breakfast was good, with enough options to suit everyone.
The staff were all friendly and spoke good English.
This hotel has good parking and is situated at the side of a small retail park, which is why I made the comment about it being suitable to stay on the way somewhere. It's not somewhere you'd stay if you wanted to be near the beach and the old town.

We needed a ferry stop over and this hotel delivered well. In the right place for easy access to the motorways and away from the walled city. Ample parking outside which felt safe. We arrived even later than expected after a delayed boat, and the staff had waited up for us. Check in smooth and a good nights sleep - thanks to excellent sound proofing. We were right next to the car park and didn’t hear a thing. I watched a car drive out right outside our window, without a sound. 10/10. Breakfast good too and all a reasonable price. Only two small suggestions for improvement: better showers and some electric car chargers in the carpark.
